I just started playing because my friend wanted me to and i heard a dominion box was coming out and i love the dominion. I also love playing games where i have NPC allies so i went tactical (for dps hate tanking) and want to get a carrier(for the other stuff). I was so excited when i heard a tactical carrier was coming out. Now i learn i can't get the pets for my dominion ship to be viable. Looked on the auction house and the ship required for them is 500mil. Thats stupid, i cannot earn that and its dumb to HAVE to spend it on a ship i don't care about. So what the attack ship is so cool, that ship isn't appealing to me in the slightest, the carrier is. They need to have a version available to new players. Its asinine to punish new players because they are new, and like i said, i don't need some super thing but to be required to get a ship i don't care about for 500mil is TRIBBLE. So far not that impressed with the game, especially if they keep doing things like this.

its not punishing new players, hell they treat new players like kings for 10 seconds, but its more on the fact they wanted to give the few with that 500mil ship a bonus, one of which almost 63% (based on the number of jemmy bug owners I was able to find) cannot use because they do not or cannot get the dreadnought.

Calling it the auction house i take it you come from world of ********? or something similar.
With other mmos you have to pay to grind about ?9 a month and to get high end content takes months. With sto you pay 0 a month and takes months to grind high end content.
What do you expect to join, then in a few weeks to have all the high end content?
It's simple either put some cash down get there fast or grind longer.
I have no problem with this. I don't see why so many people complain 500million ec is around a month or grinding for me (without even taking dilithium into account) so i don't see what the big problem is here.
I have the Jem Hadar dreadnought and was kinda disappointed to see that the bug ship pets cannot be used unless you have the JHAS as well.
I do understand that while the JHAS players are getting this as a little perk I think it might have been better to atleast offer people that don't own them the chance to get blue versions.
The sad thing is that the fighters that come with the dreadnought aren't very good and it would be nice to be able to upgrade to something that was in keeping with the theme of the faction rather than having to use klingon shuttle pets.

see the thing is, we already have our jemmy dreadnoughts, and to need both the ships, especially one very rare to find, hard to obtain ship, and very expensive to obtain ship, is rediculous just to unlock one of the only redeeming fetures of the dreadnought, the fighters suck horribly.
not to mention by the end of the month those last 5 (was 7 at the begining of the week) jem hadar attack ships on the exchange would be gone so the grind would be usless. not to mention not all of us can be on 24/7 to grind for a month, nor can we be so lucky to score suckers via the exchange.
On the same account, one toon has the bug ship and another has the carrier. But when I try to get the special jemmie fighters for the second toon they don't show up.
Is that WAD? If so, doesn't it seem wrong? I can see not having having access to the carrier but given the costs and rarity I'd appreciate the perks.
It seems recently there has been a push to replace CBoP with ABoP - this situation would be a perfect candidate.
I may not be a life time subscriber, BUT I do feed the machine with my payment every 3 months. So along side of paying that, spending hundreds on countless ships over the course of my STO career, and this is how they think they are funny. By making a requirement for a pet that I should have ANYWAY just cause I own the carrier.
I do not care what they were trying to do to make the JHAS people happy. I tried and beat my brains out over 200 lockboxes for one before i finally called it quits. Yet I should be penalized for not having the JHAS. That is completely absurd.

personaly I believe all carriers should just be un-armed massive hull machines which use their fighters to do the work, and use abilities to help the team weather it be tactical, healing, or buffing.

I also own the Dread but not the Attack Ship and I think the hangars should be available without the bug ship.
Its just been a horrible cash grab for Perfect World and Cryptic and it has to be toned down a notch.
Making money is the name of the game sure but, you should have added the ability to get the attack ship from the box as well if you were going to try to make it where you have to have a bundle of 2 ships to make frigates available.
I was thinking about this and thought to myself.... They can't sell the Jem Attack Ship for Zen... But, Why not the fighters?
They could just make it where you can purchase it 2 ways... Dread + BugShip combo with Dilithium...

I wouldnt mind paying for a Dreadnought "Hangar Upgrade" package, but then again, the damn ship is able to hold them anyway, so why not just let us fraking have it.

just do not restrict the damn jemmy attack ship hangar pets to those lucky lucky few with both the dread and the bug.

What you suggest is let everyone have access to the cool reward, and give JHAS owners a lousy exclusive reward that you won't want, is basically what your suggestion boils down to. Like I said before, no matter what they do, it's the same end result with everyone that is without a JHAS. Unless it's a really lousy reward.
Until they are fixed there is no reason to use them outside of flying around ESD. I hope everyone gets them, so they can start a new thread about how horrible they are and maybe they fix them in a couple of years.

yea, sadly the devs notice this and soon we can expect the rommie fighters to be nerfed hard for every one of them under the tippy top.
Not sure about this... the bug ship has been OP'd since its 5-tac console upgrade, yet it has never graced the end of a nerf bat.
yea but that is the ship itself, and it needed no massive nerf due to its rarity and specialness.
the rommie fighters however are like the god guns now, they do tremendous damage and make pretty much most other hangar pets usless.
