i own a bug, and i have never wanted to fly anything else since. if you really spec into a toon flying a bug, you will have spent hundreds of millions on tac consoles, dhc, your space doffs, etc. you will probably be a tac and specced into the bug. what temptation could the dread possibly draw me with?
i think they probably did this because because they want the bug to become more valuble... i had doubts in the past, but now i am coming to realise that they want the value of the bug to remain as high as pobbile. they must make a killing when they have them in the box-lottery.

sound market strategy, unfortunately it doesn't work when you make only one thing a bonus for something insanely rare already, it's like adding a penny to the value of the mona lisa.

You mean kinda like exactly what they did? Which was give us JHAS hangars?
What you suggest is let everyone have access to the cool reward, and give JHAS owners a lousy exclusive reward that you won't want, is basically what your suggestion boils down to. Like I said before, no matter what they do, it's the same end result with everyone that is without a JHAS. Unless it's a really lousy reward.
who says I don't want the upgraded ground and space set? those two are far more powerful than the hangar pets, except those you dont need two costly ships to obtain, just the one jemmy bug.

We all have to remember that the Bug ship was the most controversial and highly sought after ship in the game when it was 1st released, it made Cryptic a ton of money.
When it got rereleased in the Gamma Quadrant Duty officer pack awhile back the players did not seem to be going crazy to get one like they were the 1st time around so maybe Cryptic is trying to build a buzz up for the Jem'Hadar Attack ship again by attaching it to the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier so when they offer it up again they might get better revenue returns.
One would also have to wonder why Cryptic just did not add the Attack Ship to this current lock box or perhaps add it to the mini Gama Quadrant Duty Officer pack has a very rare drop?
The long and short of it IMO is that this is just a ploy by Cryptic to boost the Demand for what is already the most sought after lock box ship in STO.
There are only about 5 or so of the Attack Ship on the Exchange and the lowest price on one is 380000000 EC and it would take the average player about 2 years to get that much EC so the only players that can touch them most likely already have one.
It's a good ploy; build up demand for a ship that's in short supply and then hope that extra demand helps recapture some of the buying frenzy that was there when it was 1st released when you release it the next time.
I just can't shake the fact that players who just want the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier and all the options that can only be used with it are getting shafted by this move.

but no seriously, something has to be done about this and soon. hope you're checking in branflakes/taco, pass on the message that the devs need do something about this.
I want to thank all of those from both sides of the fence for helping the community and me make our point more clear. Many of you are right down to the point, stating things like:
How would we fly the Jem'Hadar dread carrier if they own and are fully speced into the bug ship without having to constantly re-spec.
What would be the point of trying to get the bug ship just to have the carrier pets because once you get the bug ship you would want to fly it and not the carrier.
Why not just release some other perk like a console with the bug ship that adds to the other 2 and many other constructive suggestions.
I do hope the Dev's not only release the carrier pet to everyone but also fix all the Jem'Hadar hanger pets as well.
I wanted to know if they had made any announcements concerning this. I don't want the escort i like carriers, i just want the dred with the frigate pets. I just can't shake the fact that NEW players who just want the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier and all the options that can only be used with it are getting shafted by this move.
well the fighters are now synonimous amongst STF players as noobs choice, just freaking usless. BUFF THE DAMN THINGS!!! and GIVE ALL WITH THE DREADNOUGHT ACCESS TO THE DAMN HANGAR ATTACK SHIPS!!!
this thing died down rather quickly, yet the fighters are still below the status of paper airplanes with rubber band guns, and the attack ships are still behind exlusivity.

I have no problem with this. I don't see why so many people complain 500million ec is around a month or grinding for me (without even taking dilithium into account) so i don't see what the big problem is here.
The problem, since math eludes thee, is that there are 5 or 6 ships on the exchange.
There are probably at least several hundred owners of the ships affected.
Please kindly explain how you can buy something that has an infinitesimal drop rate once they're all gone?
Hi I own the jem bug too. i did get both other ships, just because i like to switch up now and then. That said, i have to heartily agree with most people herte, they really should release the real pets to the public, just maybe buff th lil bug a bit more? lol. anyway i also wanted to ask, has anyone considered using the new consoles on the bug ship? i did....they and other new buffs from rep system and such really really boost the firepower, at least thats what i've noticed, perhaps it is just wishful thinking so i was wondering if anyone elses tried this?

Unless they plan on fixing the JHAS pets, there is nothing to cry about. I have the pets, they are awful. I understand people wanting the pets, but right now there is no point in worrying about them. Using them is a huge waste of your hangar slots. Be glad you didnt waste the dil, credits, or money to get them.
This would be the best way to do it. I don't even have a Dreadnought and don't plan on getting one because I have no use for it on any of my characters, but I still think this is a load of fertilizer, and I can see why people are upset. If you want a Tactical Carrier you're better off with a Kar'Fi for KDF or a Recluse for Fed, at least that way you don't have to buy another ship for several hundred million EC just to use a hangar pet that's utter garbage no matter how you look at it.
Hell, even on paper the Kar'Fi outclasses the Dreadnought in almost every respect, pets included. Fer'Jai absolutely put the bugship hangar pet to shame, and the Recluse is arguably the most versatile ship in the game right now with a universal Commander boff slot.
Someone mind explaining the allure of the Dreadnought aside from it being the newest thing? Because I don't see it.
I spent way too much money to get the Dreadnaught than I ever would have liked.
Frankly, its the closest your going to get to an Imperial Star Destroyer in Star Trek.
It turns like a brick and since I usually fly escorts it annoys the hell out of me but it looks cool so... meh.
Jem Hadar Fighters - Cant get them since I dont have the Attack ship but I have seen others running around with them and they really do suck.
I would much rather have Federation equivelent of those ships added. Wether that be something like a Miranda or a Defiant.
Bonus points if Cryptic implemented a way to customise frigate sized pets like you can customise the appearance of your own ship.

yea TRIBBLE sucks horribly to have to have the jem'hadar attack ship for its hangar equivilents
OK well it's official, the fighters suck so hard that not even other fighters get destroyed by them, they are 3x the size of other fighters, borderline the shuttles. Weak, no torps, borderline useless ability.
The fair way to do it would have been to give the JHAS pets free to anyone with a JHAS, and make everyone else pay dil for them. A dil price most would gladly pay (and 60k = $7.50).
But changing it now would upset the people who have already bought them, and since Cryptic doesn't offer refunds of anything, ever, it's not going to change. Further complaining will accomplish nothing.

sooo....knives and napalm then.
That would be nice, or atleast making it an account unlock instead of character.

we need lots more people to speak up. I notice many people complaining in zone chat but no one flocks to the forums.

that is not the problem, why make a ship available, thats incomplete?
yea there would, but there would be absolute apeasment if the attack ships were unlocked.

primarily its tough hull, 4 weapons fore, 3 aft, 4 tac console slots, and the fact it looks epic.
btw a tip for those with it, a good way to cover up he sucky pets.
get the full jem'hadar space sets, dominion beams from "Boldly They Rode" or duals if your heavy on cannons.
does a tremendous ammount of good.
