So is this a normal issue for this game? I started playing a few days ago and I really enjoy the game. However, most of yesterday and now again today I am getting the launcher error. If this is a regular occurrence I will go ahead and save me the headache and uninstall it now.
Same thing as yesterday now is happening again today. For me and few others at least. To be honest, this is getting a lil old.
The launcher is refusing to launch, trying to connect 3 times and then Patch server error. It is not on my end, now please fix it.
Same here I reinstalled the game yesterday after hours of waiting on them to fix it...after that it worked untill about a half hour ago I did reinstall but its not working for me thistime..... Damn this sucks please fix it...
Worked once now once again the launcher is broken.
Tries to connect twice then times out as per usual. I see Cryptic have removed the message that this is their top property even although they have not actually fixed the problem.
The issues may or may not be on Cryptic's end. We have no way of knowing one way or the other. Though I do suspect this connection issue has something to do with the storm currently over much of the Midwestern area of the United States. Branflakes has already posted an update about the situation and we already know Cryptic is looking into the problem. There is no reason we can't do something for an hour while they look into the problem. It's not like this happens on a weekly basis.
Daily basis, it was happening before the patch, and it happened for 10+ hours yesterday.
260+ pages on this fault and all we get is a "we are investigating".
Maybe the word "sorry" doesn't exist in STO's dictionary.
Sigh... again.. south central U.S..... was working fine all day. made the mistake of turning it off when I left for a little while, now the launcher is botched again... sigh.. c'mon people this seriously wasn't resolved yesterday?..as in ok this happened now lets make sure it doesn't happen again kinda way.
This is Cryptic being Cryptic... bad company, bad solutions....
Better still, they try to silence people by shoving them down into the depths of the forum and pretending their is not a problem. Its funny how desperate they are to try and keep this problem under wraps.

This is ludicrous. Why isn't this fixed. It's been on and off for two days now. Just got this game. Do not say it's our end....my connection....which is Fios, is awesome. My computer....is awesome and can run any game out on the market. It's Cryptics end. Why you people keep sending tracerts????? IT's CRYPTIC!
I would rather have just a patch. My fios will download it in 10 minutes.
I just checked in with the team and they are running some tests with our external routing vendor to try and identify where the cause of yesterday's issues lies. If you're having receiving an error, please try again in a few minutes while they complete their tests.
Right, Cryptic start doing tests and everything breaks like it did yesterday.
Its totally not Cryptic's fault things broke yesterday even though their tests produce the same breaking result without any prior notice ahead of time of the tests. I find it more likely Cryptic broke something, tried something else and it is still broke but they are spinning the PR wheel into saying it was an intentional test.
Oh but the breaks happened before the patch - Uh huh, so what exactly was Cryptic doing BEFORE that patch, huh ?
Whether you want to admit it or not, you're intentionally looking at only what you want to see.
Every PWE game failed, and actually some customers of internap that are near PWE complained too that they had some network issues. These problems started a number of hours before the patch was even released.
Because of the way routing works, successful paths are given priority for a certain amount of time. The effect of the down hardware was never going to be experienced by an entire single group at any given time - it was widespread in limited patches all over the world.
This particular problem was resolved last night, and everything was fine until about an hour ago. Now, I defend cryptic/pwe in this specific issue simply from personal experience. It is impossible to appease anyone when this happens, as its entirely out of their hands. They are forced to rely on people that are neither in their employ nor in their control - and, most likely, aren't even slightly regionally associated. Turning that kind of situation around and digging out of that mud on your face is not easy at all, and there really is nothing that can be said or done to make people happy.
That being said, right now is a different issue. It is STILL NOT RELATED TO THE PATCH.
The web server that reports back whenever you change maps, load the launcher, download patches, etc is refusing connections. It has, for all intensive purposes, been turned off. It wasn't a failure, it wasn't patching... it was literally turned off. This was done for testing purposes.
Most of us have no idea that it happened, and have only found out about it because we dug through the 7 pages since last night regarding the new issues.
So is this a normal issue for this game? I started playing a few days ago and I really enjoy the game. However, most of yesterday and now again today I am getting the launcher error. If this is a regular occurrence I will go ahead and save me the headache and uninstall it now.
not to my knowledge its only happened today and yesterday

It's not cryptic, as other routes work fine, it's the route your ISP sends you through to get to their servers, it's a network issue from an upstream provider.

Oh, and just to check - I ran Champions Online and ran into the same error.
Agreed, at the very least they should do something like that. Esp for those of us stupid enought to remain Gold.
