    as you can see I have an excellent connection and associated speeds. Even so I'm not able to access STO. The launcher simply doesn't function correctly.

    In most other situations I'd agree with you, but as far as I am looking so far... the issue seems to be isolated to a network issue at their datacenter. Unless they are colocating, due to the potential for large problems arising from a poor configuration, most datacenters manage the network devices themselves. Unless PWE is being truly dumb and is using software networking tools in this large of an environment, far as I can tell its internap and not PWE's fault.

    That being said, either way, they're not being selective on who can play and who cannot. The way the networking world works is through a large assortment of caching that happens at different intervals that are nearly out of the hands of everyone that receives the information. If someone happened to have a good route into the cages on a working hop... they're getting in. If the hop properly reports the outage, then when the cache times out a new route is selected and you get in.

    Even my texas server is now having problems getting past that device.

    Its not weird at all actually.

    Networks are organic, and they are able to repair themselves rather well. It just takes time. Unfortunately though, some of the automatic solutions only auto correct for a bit and then go back to bad. This is usually because of bad redundancy setups.

    (In response to other posts that are blaming PWE)

    I'm going to have to reiterate though... everyone who is blaming PWE may see the cliche behind pointing fingers, but you would be surprised at how little power even the largest companies have when they're in a datacenter and they don't own the space.

    After reading a bazillion tracert's.... connection always fails after (perfectworldent-4.border11.bsn.pnap.net [216.52.61.78])

    so the device and/or software at or just after that location is failing.

    was hapily playing using the proxy to get on then all of a sudden it went down wth cryptic are you trying to make ppl quit?

    Im about at the end of my rope with this game this is beyond irritating now :mad:

    Continuing to try and connect and then getting frustrated because you think its fixed and you get d/ced isn't actually helping the problem...

    They didn't say it was fixed yet... so whether it is or it isn't... you're trying and announcing it still doesn't work and only continuing to point out the obvious that we already know :)

    It worked for a short window of time, but every single time I zoned it timed out forcing me to restart the game until, now, its back to the way it was this morning. WTF?

    Its not being fixed, you're just repetitively trying to connect and occasionally getting past the network problem.

    You are misunderstanding the false positive of being able to connect. You aren't actually encountering any resolution at all - your network connection is merely taking a working route temporarily and then reverting back to the bad route.

    PWE hasn't fixed or broken anything, I would even go so far as to say its not even patch related and its an unfortunately disastrous coincidental hardware failure.

    Im in central Missouri and have been having the same problem for months. Only get around I could find is using a VPN but then i have issues with lag ingame. Have a good connection to all other mmo's except this one. Talked to my provider Charter cable and they tried to determine the problem while keeping me on the phone for over an hour and nothing worked. Hope you get this fixed soon. The whole laggy connection or no connection really sucks as far as choices go.
