I will give SWTOR a shot .. but im stuffed if im making the same mistake & buying a life time sub TRIBBLE that iv been shafted by cryptic .. no other software company will get that opertunity again.
Cryptic has dug themselves a hole, NWN will be met with a lot of Resistance and from what we've seen they can't even begin to compete with the games coming out like SWTOR, Guild Wars 2, Black Prophecy, DC Online, and many others.
One must also recognize that without myth and idolotry, science would have never come to fruition. One species may go a more superstition method of learning true science value and meaning than say another.
It just depends on the evolution of percieved civility.....which the Klingons don't have. The Federation in all its travels have based their reactions to others under the guise of understanding the species as what they are. This under the Federations own charter is purely judgemental....not civil.
As stated in ST VI it is a homosapiens only club. Lest we not forget that no matter which road is taken in ones understanding of the universe. A Klingon in all his simplicity is a more pure represntation of balance save the aggresive nature and self destructive behavior. This latter mention is the only thing keeping the Klingons from wearing bunny slippers and sipping tea.
Klingons are the black and white of understanding. No middle ground with them. The Feds operate in a huge grey area for the purpose of their own agenda. Remind you of any current day governments?
I would rather explain the meaning of life to a Klingon than attend a Federation diplomatic get together.
With a Klingon you know where you stand regardless if his beliefs mirror the same progession in universal understanding. thats what makes them so lovable.
I agree with most everything you're saying. But as much as I understand how annoying it is to see the feds get all the c-store stuff, I think the KDF is better off without c-store mudflation. Having to "buy" your way to the new excelsior or nebula is really going to start to suck for the federation. Here's to hoping the new KDF ships if/when they ever get here ... aren't part of that process.
Remember we are not to be offended by the arogance of the Feds. Thats a no-no.:p
The bad thing is I'm tired of the selfish arrogance of the Feds demading we are only monster players and wanting everything for their faction. That post put up the crown for me.
Just read what was posted last night and just getting thropugh it.

I'm still torn. I mean, yeah, they keep getting ships added. At 15 bucks a pop. That gets expensive after the first couple.

It burns my blood as well- but its not the feds we have to bring to our side and convince - The Dev's we have to convince. So when you see such a post , ignore and remember they are (for the most part) just feds and they don't know how to open thier minds to different viewpoints. Pity them and then kill them.
Except for the ones among them who are mature enough to be civilized and talk like adults. They need all those types of players they can get. Ther are a few among them who are good peopel.

but if there using the numbers playing now and the ones that have played to see is it worth developing that side as much as feds what chance do we have, all mmos with 2 sides have the good guys and the bad guys, kdf are obviously the bad guys and we like that, were evil and killers.
to this end people want to play kdf for this reason and the fact we have the coolest ships and races, with the numbers there using only going on what is being played now and the average st fan that they see.
that ignores the fed players who really want to play kdf but cant stand the grind, the people who want to play kdf but saw no content at launch and left the game till its fixed, the kdf that are on a break between patches, the people who want the game for kdf but refuse to buy it because kdf is lacking and the ones that look in and see one side left to rot and think whats the point, then the floating mmo players who are put off by the negative stuff produced from the fact kdf gets little love.
so are we in a catch 22 or what.

The sad reality is that this is a battle that was lost a while ago, and a good few people (myself included) didn't want to see it.
Cryptic can add new weekly episodes, but each will be used up in a day by the playerbase leaving people wanting more (again) and only a weak and unchanging end game to keep people satisfied in between. Not to mention that at best we'll get just over 20 new episodes by the anniversary of the game's release next Feb.
Cryptic can add new ships, but they're saying one thing and making it seem like they're doing another (namely with the Excelsior and Nebula, which have had work continued on them despite the Dev's saying that the Klingons need more.....everything). Not to mention that they've been making things unbalanced for a while now.
Cryptic can add UGC, but that doesn't effect everybody, and it doesn't help the lack of things to do in between (i.e. the lacking endgame here again).
Cryptic can focus on bug fixes, but it doesn't introduce anything new to the game.
I could keep going, but it's depressing just writing this....
Bottom line, this game was released with way way WAY to little; so little that it can't be recovered from in a year to be made up to where it could/should have been. I don't blame Jack (though CoH having less content on release is not a good excuse), and I certainly don't blame Dstahl; I blame the idiot that said this game has to be out in a year and a half (whoever that was, I really don't know).
This game will continue to move forward for the foreseeable future because Trek fans will keep paying for it just because it's the Star Trek IP just like the Star Wars fans did with SWG. On the flip side though, the Trek IP will likely be picked up in five to seven years by a company willing to put in the time and effort to make the game right, just as Bioware seems to be doing with The Old Republic.
In all fairness, the weeklies are a step up from older MMO models in terms of expanding content.
Yeah, people burn through it that day.
But 7 days later, there's another one.
Raid content in older MMOs would get burned through pretty quickly. So quickly the devs put them out broken and closed just to artifcially give themselves more time to finish content catch ups (AQ 40, this means you!).
The weekly does indeed get burned through fast. But ... you come back to a new one each week. And as they expand to new story arcs, I'm guessing more dailies will get added?
So in theory, it's a great idea for this type of game. Smaller chunks, put out faster. New content evolves.
The hitch is ...
It's a weekly deadline. That's a tough schedule. One bug and ka-blam, the whole thing gets thrown off the tracks.

I was merely expressing that the odd fed player who goads us over our wanting more content is nothing for us to be concerned with, as it is the developers that need to be convinced of the need of the KDF to grow some more in content in order to expand the game towards it fullest potential.

I have been pushing fleeties to get on their klingon alts and level them daily. We have been using the daily aid the deferi and the weekly missions to assist the alts in getting higher and higher...Still, it does get burned through very very quickly.

all KDF content is burned through quickly though, thats part of the problem. Even with the new missions there is very little that gives a sense of accoplishment and story to a klingon player character. A sense of having survived "x" amount of time grinding the same thing day in day is just boring.
can we take a second for a minuite of silence for the fallen kdf players who got flame baited into reacting to feds and subsequently have been silenced, dirty tricks by feds they are but we will stay on and hold the torch.

Just add things to one faction and leave the other one behind. Sure klingons are outnumbered in playerbase if u look in todays statistic ingame. At beginning we were 100 s in fleet, now we are 1 or 2.

Another fancy costume pack for federation added in C-store, where is the Klingon version ?
Its getting more and more obvious that this is Federation online. It must be their plan to NOT flesh out Klingons instead flush out the klingons.:mad::mad::mad:

I have some choice klingon words for the dishonrable tactics used to bait people into bans and the like. The tactic plays off of the inability of certain moderators to see the forest through the trees and it uses the same tactic that keeps getting hung on KDF-centric posters.
It's just ... interesting to see how the bias plays out in the forums that way. Moderators should moderate. But the way things go sometimes, it looks as though they choose sides.

That's the worst part of this attempt at communication. The heavy handed moderation of the feedback and criticism.
It suggests a very slanted and disturbing amount of bias.
Basically ... only talk about happy stuff. That's not cool. That won't help the game either.
Thats part of Cryptic's problem they think things are fine even when they admitted they don't make good games but they want to try and get better.
Best of Luck with that Cryptic.

As a Klingon player its fun to remind the Feddies that they should of spent that money on PVP lessons
I love those Defiants/Galaxy X's that decloak 2km from my rear just to get a Tricobalt to the face.
That is a classic WTF moment for the feddies aint it?...lol Even better if you have a science-type vessel with CPB and such...lol Yes...
