Logically one would think something called "Star Trek Online" would always be such.
But for "you" it is different, is it not? It is not the same product, similar yes, but same no. You = whoever
I thoroughly enjoy playing this game, for the sake of argument. I really enjoy my main character, a liberated Borg captain. Since I enjoy my version of the game so much, I want others to share in its fun. They can't, they have no Borg...
Now some folks split to "fair", others say "logic". I say "equality".
I want to play the whole game, not just parts of it. Why limit what parts I can play? I don't want to limit your parts. <--Appeal to emotion, take as you wish.
EDIT (To repair and add)
Remember, "you" is for anyone since most of us have different "exclusive" and "unique" and "insert third thing" items.
If they put the Galaxy X in the C-Store why would I, or anyone else for that matter, bother to try and get five referrals?
Because you can buy one bonus in the store you're asking why anyone would try and get the following for free by just offering people referrals: two titles, a different type of bridge officer, 400 Cryptic Points (about 5USD) per subscriber, and a ship?
Why do almost nothing and get stuff free, and get "money" besides on top of that, when you can instead forgo that money and spend your own to get one of the aforementioned things?
I should think the reason would be obvious. It's not like we're talking about back breaking physical labour, or selling your soul or auctioning yourself into slavery. We're talking about sending codes to people you know, or maybe handing them out in a forum for the game.
I understand the point your making, I don't see the relevance of doing something that would undermine the prelaunch investment offer to be out of fairness for putting other things in the C-Store.
I do not find that line of thinking illogical, merely emotional.
So it is fine to undermine the prelaunch investment for one game to satisfy one's desires when it isn't fine to do the same for a second? You may call my arguments emotional, but I find yours illogical.

No it is not fine to undermine a prelaunch investment, after reviewing the facts I do not believe The CO LTS was undermined, Unless something that I am unaware of was actually labeled as "exclusive" ended up in the C-Store. I hope these quotes clarify the facts for all.

Hey folks, I wanted to hop in here to clear up a few things.
The original tone of the news post that started this thread was very STO-specific because we thought we should emphasize what we thought would be most exciting to STO fans. Once we read the thread and realized some of you had concerns about that messaging, we changed it to showcase the entire Champions Online subscription offer and make the overall post more informative. If you check the post on the Champions Site, youll notice the offers are the same. (Exclusive used to emphasize)
In regard to questions specifically about the Mirror Universe costume set, I dont have an answer for you on its future availability, because we just dont know yet. But thank you for your posts on this issue, as your opinion will definitely help shape the future of our offers.
As far as the STO beta, the vast majority of our beta testers will be selected by conventional means, meaning well draw from a pool of people who sign up for beta via our website. This is how we did it for Champions and we were extremely happy with our testers and our test process.
And just to reiterate: Were cross-promoting both titles, and we plan to do so with all the games we make in the future. We want fans of our games to be fans of all our games, and we want to engage people who choose to play more than one; its just good business. Did you know, for instance, that your login here will also work on the Champions site, as is?
I really do appreciate the feedback youre posting in regard to this issue, and people from every level of the company are reading it.

Hurry more people feel the need of entitlement! This is the only MMO I have ever played where exclusive doesn't mean exclusive. What I do know and what I have seen with the packaging that came with my game is that it says that my borg bridge officer for amazon is exclusive only to that pre-order, and that my tng/d9s/voy uniforms are exclusive to the CE edition I bought. For these reasons I am making contact with the BBB to file a complaint for this issue.

Agreed.
Maybe it's the Star Trek itself that makes everyone thinks they are entitled to equal share of everything. After all, the United Federation of Planets itself is a socialism gone utopia.
Putting jokes aside, yea, so much for purchasing the borg bridge officer for $80 off Ebay, when I could've waited for only 5 months or so, and the item would've been available at C-Store for pretty much... nothing!
And thinking about driving around Target, Gamestop, and etc, to purchase different editions to collect those unique ingame items.... oh man... it's been a great waste of time and money.
As a collector myself, I've purchased possibly every collector's edition/promotional items related to LOTRO, WoW, Warhammer, and etc, and none of them "re-introduced" those special ingame items via other venues.
When major MMO titles introduced "exclusive" items, they usually meant "exclusive" as in "unique" and "not available afterward or through other means." As Cryptic seemed like an established company, I saw no reason to do any research regarding Cryptic's "definition of exclusives." Oh boy... I was wrong.
Cryptic... everything they do is cryptic to me.
P.S. Oh by the way, for those who think it was foolish of me to collect ingame pixels, I do collect other collectibles including ancient antiques, art works, cars, books, and etc. Everyone values things differently, so don't criticize my obsession with collecting!

Don't let it bother you I always just laugh it off as jealousy because we had what they wanted and they feel entitle to it. Reminds of a kid I grew up with he was an only child every kid on the block was jealous he always had the greatest toys etc. same thing here except here cryptic = parent, some players = equal jealous kids the difference is our parents knew how to say no when we cried for something just because we wanted it and thought we were entitled to it.
Just remember, Cryptic pays to be a member of the BBB club. So why would this really make a difference? All Cryptic would do is stop paying to be a member, which is incentive enough for the BBB to say only nice things...is it not?
This just in: Ive just received confirmation that there are solid plans to add the Galaxy-X to the C-Store in the very near future. If you are purchasing the Steam sale solely for the Galaxy-X referral rewards, youll get a better deal if you wait for this item to hit the C-Store. Also, for those who already purchased several copies of STO just to get the Galaxy ship, well be gifting you $50 worth of CP as a special thank you.
(At least I hope it is. Sorry Picard, you know I still have uber respect for ya )
(As I have respect for you) The wording of the referral program said "special ship" not "exclusive" but that does not surprise me. can you provide the link that GM destra confirms this?
In another thread asking Cryptic if this would happen. I already predicted that they would put the galaxy x in the c-store due to the wording used in the advertisement.
(As I have respect for you) The wording of the referral program said "special ship" not "exclusive" but that does not surprise me. can you provide the link that GM destra confirms this?
Well we have conformation on the Galaxy X, the Borg not so much (At least I have not seen it.)
I have the Captain Borg, and it is really fun to play. I hope you ALL get the chance to try it out!
You are too generous.
If i had a liberated borg, I would keep it out of sight from everyone. I would wash its uniforms and give a clean haircut every week. I would never allow anyone to play liberated borg and would never vouch that it should be available to the general populous. I would feel that I am entitled to the liberated borg indefinitely, but not others since I purchased Pre-Order lifetime subscription.
Confirmed. Gm destra comments are falling right in line with my prediction, my next prediction will be if the Liberated Borg Captain does resurface, even though I doubt that it will, it would be tied to a LTS offer.
Q recently said no on the matter however of the LTS Borg Captain resurfacing.
However I agree with Cryptic decision with the galaxy x, due to many of us requesting its presence in STO in 10/2008.
The labels "generous" and "selfish" are meant to divide, where as "we" are "us" unites.
(There is that perfect world fallacy again )
I don't judge anyone for what they are, I only judge actions. And who am I to decide what is the "Right way" and "wrong way". So I just aim for the "fun way" and "interesting way".
Alrighty, I am done with the mumbo jumbo I need a cig.
Haven't you realized by now that Cryptic will do anything for extra cash-flow for their quarterly report?
Cryptic took away exclusivity of everything that I've collected related to STO.
I want a share in the loot fest as well. I want my liberated borg now.
I hope your analysis of situation is inaccurate, due to an emotional response.
I do not feel Cryptic will violate the PRE-LAUNCH LTS OFFER the approval rating does not support it. The likely hood would be much higher for them to attach it to the current LTS offer and not to the C-Store.

I would refer folks if I had folks to refer. Most of my Trek friends already have come and gone from the game
(I have open spots in my fleet! And I promise I give away nothing to join, and I will give nothing away later an easier way!)
EDIT (To Reply VVVV)
*Puts on his reading glasses, for some upcoming alpha info*
It was explicitly in writing, in the Champs lifetime offer, which said the MU uniform was exclusive, and unique. That is fact.
So it is fine to undermine the prelaunch investment for one game to satisfy one's desires when it isn't fine to do the same for a second? You may call my arguments emotional, but I find yours illogical.
I answered this already. I have the CO LTS advertisement....no it did not.

Cryptic should sell the LIberated borg for $3.50, like the MU uniform.
I find this laughable at best if anything is done with bringing the Liberated Borg Captain back it will be attached to the LTS.
This is however not supported by any documentation, all Champions exclusives are still "exclusive"
As are the STO "exclusive"
The MU set was a bonus incentive along with Beta access the two hardly compare.
I do no see Champions offering there limited lifetime "exclusives" to Champions players currently.
Why should STO.......
Unless Cryptic is a member of the Better Business Bureau it will do no good...
Oh yeah, I forgot I gave up in here...

39% for, there is no way this is going anywhere with such a poor approval rating.
I am also opposed

17% opposed......motion carried!
