Poll: Should the Liberated Borg be added to the C-store?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Seeing how Cryptic's definition of "exclusive" means "early access," I figured that eventually, Cryptic will acquiesce to the players' demand. It's obvious that the Galaxy-X Cruiser will be available via C-Store soon.

Applause to many of those who confidently told me that they refused to participate in the referral program because they knew Cryptic would eventually introduce the ship via C-Store at a fraction of its "cost!"

Hence, it's only fair that the remaining "super exclusive" should be available via C-Store as well for everyone;

Pre-Order Lifetime Liberated Borg

I think it would be ridiculous if Galaxy-X would be available in C-Store before the Liberated Borg becomes accessible. After all, Liberated Borg was introduced way before Galaxy-X became available and those venerable Pre-Order lifetime subscribers reaped enough joy and benefits out of it for a while now!

So what do you guys think? Should the Liberated Borg be available through C-Store?

Should the Liberated Borg be added to the C-store?

After you vote, feel free to share your thoughts :D

As one of the people with it already. Sure, why not? it was a bonus, not the reason for getting a lifer sub at the cheap rate.

I am not one to get upset if my pre-order stuff ends up in the c-store. Only reason I would vote no for the liberated Borg is so there wouldn't be 1000's of them running around. Seems even the amount given out for pre-order LTS might have been too much. I don't want to see Starfleet become mostly liberated Borg.

I vote no for the liberated Borg captain, but for aesthetic reasons only.

However, if they do, I really hope they finally allow the liberated Borg option to include all races and as well as the alien creator so there is a wider variety to them.

I agree, but oh well. I feel the same for the pretty Galaxy-X Cruiser, but I would like to get my hand on liberated borg as well if Cryptic decides to make Galaxy-X Cruiser available via C-Store!

Seeing as they put the Mirror Universe uniforms on the C-Store, I do not see anything wrong with it at this point. But the Captains Table should remain as a part of the Highest point in Veterans perks, just to keep it a spam free place for Veteran long term players to cool their heels and socialize.

It should not be avaliable to anyone else.

I agree, but hey! It's Cryptic! We beg hard enough, and Cryptic will make any wish come true!

I voted Yes as well. I didn't buy a lifetime membership to get access to the Borg, though it's a fun and nice bonus. I'm okay with everybody getting access to it, though preferably for at least 500 CP. :p

I think that sooner or later they'll be added in the c-store.

I voted yes, regardless of the snide, whiny tone to this thread.

But that's because I understand the worth of virtual items. Nothing.

Then why even bother purchasing items from C-Store? After all, these are all worthless goods to you.

    Disposable income.

    That, and free C-Store points.

I fail to see the difference. So instead of treating yourself and your girlfriend for a dinner at Joel Robuchon or Fat Duck, you decided to spend your disposable income on worthless pixels? Obviously you attached higher values for C-Store items over physical goods that you decided to give up.

It doesn't make any sense for you to claim that certain ingame items are "worthless" while you use your disposable income to purchase items from C-Store.

Sure, put them in the C-Store. I didn't even realize they were an exclusive for the version of the game I bought. Doesn't matter to me if everyone else has them as well.

I don't like flying cruisers so the Galaxy X doesn't hold much interest for me, but for the folks that do covet it, I wish you the best of luck being able to obtain it. Wish they offered an escort or science vessel on the referral program as well as a Klingon reward.

Even though I still vote no (again for aesthetic reasons not selfish ones), my reasons are purely personal so I certainly will not lose any sleep over it if they do offer it in the c-store, and would even be happy for those who want it.

One point I want to make for the devs. It is very hard to obtain the Galaxy-X since it is difficult to find 5 people to refer. This type of challenge is something the game does not yet have. Items that are very hard to obtain in game. For example: via an epic quest line which ends in an STF/ grinding for a ultra rare drop/ achieving multiple hard to accomplish accolades.... ect.... Give us some rewards that take a ton of work and time to obtain.

Your argument falls at the first hurdle. You imply an either/or choice, projecting your own value system onto another. You also assume that the monetary cost of C-Store points is equivalent to a meal at an exclusive restaurant.

And then you wonder why the 'keep it exclusive' argument has failed. Instead of venting your ire towards the people who've made the decision to sell them, you attack your equals.

Incidentally, I went out for a lovely steak dinner at a posh restaurant last week. Obviously, I can afford both. But then again I didn't waste my disposable income on multiple copies of the same game.

To be honest, I am adamant about some items remaining exclusive. Although I am one of the unfortunate ones who didn't get the liberated Borg, I think it's fair that it still remains exclusive to the Pre-Order Lifetime Subscribers who took "enormous risks" to pay for a game that they haven't even touched. It was sort of like taking a "leap of faith."

I already got the ship so I am happy, but most likely, it won't last long since tends to play the role of Santa Claus and hands out everything for fraction of the original costs via C-Store.

You said it's difficult to get 5 referrals. At least the option is still open for everyone. As for the Liberated Borg, in order to get it, it requires a higher price tag and it's not even available anymore. So I think it would be fair for the liberated borg to be sold via C-Store if Galaxy-X becomes accessible.

If they put the Galaxy X in the C-Store why would I, or anyone else for that matter, bother to try and get five referrals?

I don't want to play as a liberated brog. To me the brog in STO are like dragons in WoW. "Look, mommie, I got a tartan dragon mount now. I must be really special to get that"

I suppose it's ok for the Liberated Borg to be accessible via Vet reward then?

I'll agree to this, after, say, Revo's suggestion of 16 months?

ive said yes to just about everything else turning up so again i would go for this

would prefer a veteran award. after 16 months the monthers have paid as much money as the lifers, so id add it around then, or maybe a little later somewhere up to the 2 year mark

Not the first thread about this, not the last. I don't think it should be in the store, at least not for a long while. Regardless of whether it does eventually end up in the store or not I would not at all be satisfied with that unless everyone who purchases lifetime gets it for free. I pre-ordered lifetime so I paid cheaper and got all the bonuses and what not but if someones going to pay more than I did for a lifetime and not get those things that doesn't really sit right with me. I know it was a limited promotion but I don't see the harm in giving them the playable species free. After that I don't care if it ends up in the store, go for it.

Take every single one of the posts made by this poster thus far in this thread....

and put my vote on it. I have the same mindset about money, exclusives, etc.

No, I don't think any of the items, things, that were offered at the onset of the game for participating in whatever the requirements were should be made available to the general population.

It waters down the effect these promotions have for the next time they're offered. Why do the extra required to get them at the beginning of the game when you can wait a couple of months and get them for next to nothing?

I've got no problems with it being put in the C-Store, or used in some other fashion by Cryptic. I bought the lifetime sub because I liked the game enough to know I was going to be playing it for a long time. The bonus playable Borg was just icing on the cake.

If you have all this disposable income why do you always vote for everything to be on the cstore surely a rich guy like you can afford to buy things

I vote no, for technical reasons,

    1. This is the only limited time offer and Actual "Exclusive" within this title.

    2. All others were listed Preorder/Vendor Exclusives that are all still available through their respective vendors.

    3. Any other specific Item at best was only labeled "unique" by type, not exclusivity

    Thank you.
