I must also point out that Cryptic didn't want to release the game until April or May of this year. ATARI is ordering the game to be released before it's ready because the executives want money. They would rather get their money now and release a bugged up POS game rather than letting the Cryptic dev team get everything working like it's suppose to.
yes very true, that being said we should understand the fact that its still literly a work in progress. but then again what active MMO isnt? Everyone just be patient, for old WoW'rs like me, remember their launch? Were just spoliled by seasoned MMO's.
And now the servers are down. Hmmm MAYBE THEY GOT OUR MESSAGE! I hope. I agree with all these problems its turning into a headache. What im wondering is whats going to happen on launch day? We alll saw what happened during launch of headstart. Was a nightmare to try and log in. All i say is they better patch the critical problems or were going to see hell on launch day.
Comments thoughts?
I agree it will be hell on launch day to log-in if they dont fix it

Wait, wait. Are you telling us that Corporate hotshots are more interested in getting their money than in releasing a quality product? I am shocked. <Sarcasmatron set to stun>
Server on the ground, server on the ground, Looking like a fool with your server on the ground.
Say you don't happen to be the person on WoW Ghostlands who caps that in trade chat everyday are you?
Also same thing. Was doing awsome mission with awsome drops and me and 2 friends got kicked at the exact same time.
Just an idea Cryptic. If you need more time to figure things out or work on a patch why not reactivate some of your other games. say a free week for aion or Champions. Wouldn't hurt much while you figure this mess out. That or when this problem is fixed let the pre orders get their bonus items and such for pre ordering before the real launch.
If all else fails give us an extra week of game time. I have a list of other ideas if you want it.
Also *not sure* but your game is starting to eat a rather big amount of memory from what i see. 100-700mb a patch is a little extream. Eh Not to worried.
at least a GAME should be playable when its released. but to get stuck in login is just poor
.maybe the next game will be released after the login screen is already finished, because customers can be satisfied with only watching this for a while...
First off, I agree with everyone else that being stuck on this screen is annoying. But, everyone who expected no downtime or bugs during the headstart weekend has, at the very least, a minor mental deficiency. I agree that at this stage I cannot see how they can manage to get everything under wraps by the 2nd, however I am not paying for anything until then so there is no use complaining about it now. And, to all the posts complaining about the lack of a cancel button.. yeah it would be nice but if you really have that big of an issue with hitting the minimise button and waiting for the timeout that you need to rant about it, maybe whoever stole your blankie really needs to give it back.. =]
i cant even get that far lol i get to connecting to account database, wish they wud just let us know the server is is stuffed an not waste our time trying to get back in:mad::mad:
anyone know the real number of ppl playing atm ? just a guess would be fine .
cause if we have atm problem with lets say 100.000 ppl then i dont want to know what happends when the real start is going live
i realy hope they get all fixed even too i feel still used as betaplayer but well thats the way of new onlinegames

You are hereby promoted to CAPTAIN OBVIOUS..........
We all know what you said.......just no one needed to say it.....
I think most are speaking ideally here......and Capt. we have paid for it, it comes with the price of the game, part of the preorder incentive was to get in early.....their incentive, to get our money and an early idea of total sales.......(also obvious but since you insist.)

Yes yes, but it *IS* interesting, don't you think, that every MMO has this problem (including World of Warcraft). It makes me wonder something... either there is some algorithm out there for determining the amount of load upon a release date that is just WRONG, and someone needs to revise it... OR, every programmer working for a major company is overly optimistic... OR, every QA person is overly lazy... OR, every beta-tester is overtly un-stereotypical...
It's confusing to me. This stuff happens all the time, yes we all expect it... The question I really have is, why don't the developers expect it? I can't imagine that stress testing a login server is too terribly difficult... but what the eff do I know. Maybe they bought a few crappy switches or routers or something, or their ISP did.. beh, I dunno. I don't understand why this happens because the only response I ever see is something like,
"We are working diligently to solve the problem, and it will be up some time in the future."
Which, really, doesn't tell me what the problem ever is, was, etc. BUT, it's not like cryptic doesn't have experience programming other MMOs... or am I missing something...

Well buddy, I hope you don't mind if I promote you to Captain Awesome. I know you love speaking for everybody, but when you say "we have paid for it", I'm a little confused in regards to the identity of this almighty "we" because by saying that, you assume we have all paid for it, however with EB games (who I preordered through) I don't have to pay for the game until the 8th of February. So, Capt. Awesome, Commander of the U.S.S SpeaksForEveryone, Please research before being a smartass.. =] ( A little smiley for you being so awesome)

Oh, and a little side note, in addition to not having to pay for the game until the 8th of February, I have already received 3 of my preorder goodies (U.S.S Enterprise, Two Borg BO's). So far I'm feeling relatively well treated by the game seeing as it isn't released for another few days.
Issue most likely the server farm they have running the game can't handle the traffic that is being put on it. Adding more servers to the server farm to spread the load out might solve the issue. However I am not sure how they have things set up... it maybe the instance servers causing issues... who knows :P

That means progress, right?
I guess we can only hope it doesn't turn into another Conan and Warhammer.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
So what's a typical server outage last? 20 minutes? 30? 525,600?
