I'm still trying to figure out why they gave us 2 weapon slots if we're not supposed to use them. Can you answer that for us ajac. It seems to me that if I have 2 places to hold weapons I should be able to use 2 weapons. If there is only 1 special for each weapon why would I EVER have to switch to the weapon in the other slot cryptic gave me? Why don't we all just have 1 slot then?
Depending on enemy placement and types, you might want to have a single target heavy hit like a sniper shot, as opposed to a less damaging cone attack.
to switch between them if one isnt working to well.. but ask the devs their hte ones that nerfed it lol you werent ment to be able to to do 2 massive attacks one right after another.. ur ment to switch weapons to choose one with a diffrent energy type or attack type or special type.
But that is an exploit according to your previous posts: "You shouldn't be able to use 2 specials in a row". I don't think anyone here told you to use two rifles and swap for duplicate specials that was something you brought to the thread. From what I saw people were telling you to Expose with one weapon special then Exploit with the other, which you claimed as an exploit.

yes its an exploit and obvious the devs agree if they nerfered it.. I didnt say use 2 specail attacks I said switching weapons becasue of type I mean you do know thiers more then one type right? Disruptor phasers polarn plasma ect ect some enemies have diffrent defense against different weapons thats why you switch an enemy is taking your phaser fire like nothing so you switched to disruptor wow doing more damage now.
no switching weapon so u dont have a cool down is aka you use your special attack and then switch to a different weapon use its special attack which of course is ready. sorry I feel that an exploit of the game mechanics defeats the purpose of cool downs. You shouldnt be able to use your special switch weapon and use its special dont like it sorry.
Maybe it's just me but you've since changed you stance for "2 specials" to "2 massive damage attacks". The former is what you originally called an exploit on page 3 of this thread. You're right they're fixing the double Exploit usage. But no one here (except YOU) has brought that up. Most in THIS thread were trying to tell you to use an Expose then an Exploit and you suddenly changed your stance from 'specials' to 'massive damage'. So which is the exploit?

huh'? you make no sense.. switching between 2 weapons to use both their specials to do massive damage did you even read the threads? guess not but dunno why anyone aruging about it the devs agreed and its gone so no point in beating a dead horse go whine to the devs if you got an issue with it.

Yes I did read the thread. From the start where you couldn't understand the Expose/Exploit system to the point where you realized it and started calling it an exploit in the game mechanics. As I showed you doing. In the first post I quoted you said AND I QUOTE AGAIN IN CASE YOU'VE FORGOTTEN:
You shouldnt be able to use your special switch weapon and use its special dont like it sorry.
Where in THAT sentence did you say ANYTHING about "Massive Damage"? All I see is "special" and absolutely NO backup as to WHAT special it is.
The dev's agreed to fix the Exploit/Exploit system, NOT THE 2 SPECIALS SYSTEM. Did you even read the thread? Cause I've even listed the page numbers of your own quotes that you seem to have forgotten.

yup they fixed it by properly putting the cool down between the 2 did you read the patch notes? then again you seem to busy yelling at someone over the computer.. ah well must suck not having a llife ah well dont bother replying your getting boring.

I'm not yelling at anyone I'm trying to bring attention to the parts of my posts which you seem intent on ignoring for the benefit of your position. No they did not nerf the 2 specials. They nerfed using 2 Exploits.
It's unintended that players would be able to fire two sniper shots back to back. We're considering a couple different fixes.
That is using two Exploit attacks. Not 1 Expose then 1 Exploit. 1 is massive damage (which is what you changed your argument to after you posted the link) and the other is using specials (which was your original "exploit").
special attack <> massive damage
special attack != massive damage
Your original "exploit" was:
You shouldnt be able to use your special switch weapon and use its special dont like it sorry.
That is NOT what they are "considering fixes" for. Or do you still not understand the combat system?
Zexks Just stop he won't listen to reason been down this route before, everyone on the game understands firing two sniper shots in a row was wrong but none of us ever said we did that.
I always used Expose fire then Exploit fire like for example Stun beam + Wide Beam.
He obviously doesn't understand and is confused enough to think the developer thread where they mentioned it refers to what he's saying. He's wrong we both know that, hell I think everyone knows.
I just find it funny we are still arguing with a guy that didn't understand the Expose Exploit system and he claimed to be in the CB lol

hmm states in English cool down when you switch weapons works properly now.... doesn't say anything about sniper x 2 or any thing beyond that.. but I am assuming you don't read English or have a life "shrug" go figure I guess
I had problems with sword masters like for the first two days. After that I never have a problem with him. Make sure your BO have good armor and shields. Have a healer in your away team. Before you attack a group of Klingons see if there is a sword master in the group. If there is one set all your BO to attack him first.

yup just go straight for him.. but be prepared for the later away missions when theirs 3.. a bit of over kill I think personally when your facing 3 at one time.

If you had read the developer thread properly you would have understood that it was to stop people in PvP using two sniper shots in a row.
And I wouldn't make remarks about other peoples English language skills if I were you.

I love how you quote release notes and then don't even bother go check out what it means ingame, You can still switch between Expose and Exploit attacks without a cool down. Just shows what you know.
Swordmasters make me crazy because they spam that knockdown of theirs which also does a ton of damage. Spending the whole time disabled isn't very fun. Some of those Gorn bites need looking at too. You get some where it chains "holds" on you one after the other. Its find that they can do these things, I just don't think its good for them to be able to chain stuns on you so easily.

And don't expect me to lower myself to your level
lol if you reread 99% of your posts your way beyond that lol

yeah agreed they and their melee attack cuts through you like a hot knife threw butte. Best to keep everyone on them but when their are groups of them its hard to do that.
A few types of NPC are nasty, I was doing a exploration mission last night and had to fight some random NPCS and they was extremely hard, the entire instance took me nearly an hour and there was only 4 groups of mobs to kill, but each set had a commander and his pistol spray attack was crazy, this was in the Eridian Belt.
lol keep your QQing to yourself, ground combat is fairly balanced, they do NOT need a nerf, holy **** balls..... learn how to play.
I push all my skills (90%) to space combat, and I do just fine. Get some better gear, focus fire him down, aoe or w/e... just stop the QQ and learn to play lol.
1 thing I noticed about the video you posted OP, your constantly running around while firing and wondering why your not doing very much damage?....
I usually crouch and shoot for the dmg bonus...if I see a swordmaster running towards me he's usually dead before he even reaches me...and if he does I just butt him in the face and roll backwards and keep shooting till he's dead....the only times I ever start to worry about dying is when I'm being flanked..

well you run and jump to avoid damage lol since they do ALOT

Dude, I need you to read this, I mean really read it. In yellow text under weapon and skill descriptions are the words Expose and Exploit. When you use an expose attack it has a chance to paint a target with a flashing icon, and if you use an exploit attack it will do massive damage. Maybe you picked this up from what people have said in this thread, but early on in the thread you clearly didn't know this.
Go to your hotkey menu and find the "Attack my target" command, set it to a button within easy reach. Take a science and tac officer with expose attacks with you (look at their skill descriptions). Target something, hit the "Attack my target" button, you should roman numerals pop up on the mob indicating that your away team members are targeting them. They will then attempt to use their expose attacks, leaving you to use an exploit when it procs. Now you can partake in the fundamental mechanic of expose/exploit without switching weapons as you so irrationally object to.
Watching your vid, the lack of use of "Attack my target" is the single biggest flaw in your playstyle. You are the captain and you direct the aggro of your away team. Otherwise it is every man for himself.
Is there evidence that running and jumping somehow imrove your chance to dodge things or reduce the damage taken? I have some hazy memory that rolling might, but can't be sure.
Reading through the 20+ pages so far, I am glad for the first time that in game toons are marked with account handles.
mob = bad guy
proc = happen
key binds are under options
roman numerals = I, II, III, IV, V
Hi, just wanted to say THANK YOU to all you folks who took the time to explain things in this thread.
I was having a massive problem with Swordmasters, but like a complete burke I had totally missed the whole Expose/Exploit thing! A quick change of weapons and an alternative Away Team choice has totally changed the whole thing.
My Science Officer main character is handling them pretty well with a combo of Tricorder Scan and Sniper Shot!
