Either need a nerf or something its kind of annoying that in away missions even if thier the ony one left they bascially attempt to TRIBBLE the player and almost completely ignores your away mission team. and usually its a one or 2 hit kill when they use thier melee weapon... only tip I can give to any new players use your away team as sacrificial lambs get behind him and use a special attack.. but I hate having to do that.. lol

Swordmasters are definitely overpowered compared to their counterparts. However, the rest are manageable if you direct your Away Team correctly.

What I do is target the most difficult enemy before combat starts. I then direct my Away Team to fight them first. I then do NOT immediately attack that enemy. I either target another weak enemy or wait a few seconds before attacking the strong one. This reduces the chance it will run right at me.

With concentrated fire even the swordmasters die fast.

I've never had a problem with them. Use your rifle butt to bash them on their butts.
And get better weapons for everyone. Did you know that you can give away weapons to your away team??

They are the only glimmer of challenge in the ground game. If you are having trouble, the good news is you can learn and get better. The rest of the AI and difficulty needs to be increased.

yeah the others are manageable but the sword masters and officers ignore ur away team completely and go for you disabling your shields with disruptor fire then one barely 2 hits with thier melee and ur dead. no matter how often I roll to avoid damage or run. So usually when I see them I sent the away team in first get around and attack wtih a special attack from behind .

their not really a challenge just an announce. If they actually use tactics beyond being over powered it would be a challenge but hell anyone can just overwhelm someone with using the same most powerful attack over and over with no cool down through objects that suppose to be cover. Id rather the AI be able to be smart enough to go around cover instead of firing through it and be like a star trek episode of people taking cover.. not the AI simply ignoring the rules and doing overwhelming because its programing sucks

    It's not trolling, it's advice.

I'm Lt. 6 atm and i dont have any problems at all, even with Swordmaster and several Officers around.
You need to learn to use your BOs, your skills, position, cover etc. efficiently.
Exposed, any NPC dies in one shot, use that ... flanking, DoT skills, AoE, Shields etc etc ... there is tons of stuff

I died only once so far in ground cmbt, due to stupid BO pulling full room of npcis (app 20)

So yes, they are fine. Learn to play

Strong NPCs do not die in one shot when Exposed unless they are below 100% health and have no shields. At least this is true at the Lt Cmdr levels. At lower levels it is possible to one shot SOME strong NPCs but not all of them.

In any case, you cant rely on Expose for Swordmasters etc. Definitely try to get it to happen, but it is not a high percentage chance. It is better to make sure your general combat tactics are sound.

its trolling if you read the rules of trolling its their and been reported also flamming as well.. and flanking and exposes dont work to wel when the enemy automatically faces you when u barely look in their direction main reason I sent in the npcs first can get at least one shot off before they turn,

Never had any problem with ground combat. I give my whole away team expose weapons, and keep the exploit weapons to myself (I always save the cooldown for an expose). They do not really take advantage of the expose (we need better AI). Anyways, the expose quite often so even a sword master will go down pretty quick with a couple of good exploits. Haven't had any issues so far.

I agree w/ Necto. No NPCs need to be nerfed so far but a few could be toughened up some. The officer's and swordmasters coming for you is just smart AI. Take out the officer in charge and send the enemy into disorganized chaos. Smart tactics breed a fun and challenging game experience.

How to deal with tougher enemies:
1 - Give your away team Expose type weapons.
2 - Hold your Exploit attack, don't just toss it around.
    3 - Focus your away team's fire.
4 - Don't fire on the Swordmaster yet, shoot some of the Warriors.
5 - As soon as you see the Expose indicator, press "G" to target the exposed victim.
    6 - Exploit.
7 - Knock them on the ground with a rifle butt/palm strike.
8 - Don't forget to use your special abilities, especially those that expose or kill resistances.

Incidentally: Make sure you have a science officer with healing capabilities on your away team. While an Engineer can repair shields, certain weapons will cause much greater damage through shields (plasma and melee, primarily).
Take cover if you are under heavy fire. This gives your shields a chance to repair on their own. (Don't get hit for a time, and they recharge.)

He's right tho - since you know those guys are dangerous why don't you
    -expose/exploit them ?
    -rifle butt them ?
-advise your team to focus fire?
-move back so they receive flank damage if they follow ?
If you die to any of those guys you seriously need to rethink your tactics,

    l2p :)

Make sure you have a sci officer with heal! If you are struggling in away missions just get 2 healing sci officers and its impossible to die.

Yes, they can be a challenge but they are in no way overpowered. Learn to use the skills available to you and try using some tactics. Make sure you use your away team to their full potential.

If you're dying in ground combat, you're doing something wrong.

If you see a swordmaster coming for you, back up, knock him down and unload your special on him. If you get scared, tell your away team to gang up on him.

My trick for these guys is to find them in the crowd and then tell my entire team to attack that one target first. With the knockback weapons I have on my BO, often the NPC will never get in melee range of anyone. If there is another officer just rinse and repeat.

Another trick is to position your officers on either side of a door and then pull the group into the crossfire. Make sure and position your officers so that the NPCs can't hit them from in the room or they will not come out.

I just wish we could assign officer targeting to hotkeys, instead of having to mouse over to the officer controls. Any ideas for that?

yeh hot keys and auto firing for normal attack would be nice .. devs dont listen welll though just tell them how awesome the game is then mention that and they will listen.

They are totally fine every time one get's near me I just use Leg sweep and then roll back fire again. They aren't OP at all in fact I've not died from a sword master even fighting him 1v1 with Melee only.

    that is you

I have been one shot by them several times and I am using 12% kinetic defense mark II shields and still get one cut by them. Love how people say learn to play when they hit you once and u die.. think thats a bit over powered and their on my level.. so yeah their over powered or something in their programing cause them to TRIBBLE up once in awhile. Was with a gorup each person got one cut by him so something is wrong doesnt happen all the time but it does happen just becasue your not effected by it doesnt mean it doesn't happen. I 've heard of people not getting mission rewards hasn't happened to me yet but I know it happens.

    My sentiments exactly.

To the OP: You're describing the same tactics to defeat them as I use without any trouble, yet you can't seem to handle them. Dunno what to tell you.

No idea what you're doing wrong. I don't find it hard at all, and neither does anyone else that I know in real life that's currently playing the game.
