hi
don't know if i post prematurely (I'm still patching), but after each patch, i have to restart my iMac (OS X 10.7.6) bc I'm stuck at Loading screen with the star trek symbol.
I have disabled "UseGLSL". then activated it again and still same problem. any suggestions? but i will see what happens if i finish patching...
hm.. i think the game patched, bc when i open launcher, there is a patch icon, but it jumps almost immediately to full.
i tried to run a "test run (debug mode)" i got 2 logs. i think with the x11.log is smith wrong. thats what i got in the end of the log: (i have to add: i have no idea what this log said, but i just see that there is a loading error...). maybe smby can help?

UseGLSL is for graphics issues... once in game, nothing to do with logging in or patching.
Right after patching that loading screen can take a very very long time (literally sometimes like 10 minutes), and I'm not sure exactly why. It normally only does it one time after patching. All patching is done well before that screen though... so I don't totally understand what your saying.

it should try to auto patch every time you launch it... but if a patch isn't available, when it gets done checking, it of course jumps to done and the game is ready to play.... I'm not really following what your explaining about what your seeing on the screen though.

thats all fine and expected. Its kind of an erroneous error... the xorg-server is made for many different platforms, and the way WineskinX11 is running, that is actually an expected message... I didn't feel it necessary to change all the output messages, as i try to do as little modification as needed for the X server code.... the main people that work on it are much better at it than I... I just make my modifications needed for Wineskin.
ok, ty for your quick response
now this is whats happening (i try to be a bit clearer):
i start the launcher => i get a "verify?" message. i click "yes" and it verifies to the end so i can start the game.
before loading screen even appears now (don't know why i hadn't this problem before), i get the CrypticError: Oops! - Message.
thats where I'm stuck now.
my iMac:
OS X 10.7.2
2011 iMac
Display: Nvidia GeForce 9400
i hope you can help somehow
=> you can remove this post. it was messed up bc i changed smith in the game-options (Advanced => tools => config utility).
ok, thats what it was: long loading screen. guys mentioned it before. I'm sorry, i feel stupid. it worked, game loaded, but then another problem:
i got to a screen where i could read in the top 3 lines: barely visible, slightly visible and clearly visible. and there was a bar with a number indicator (1.00). and i could move the STO cursor but couldn't click anything.
there i got stuck. i waited 10 mins at that screen (there was also music playing) and nothing.
then when i tried again, it crashed my iMac (grey screen with asking to restart computer).
from reading up on forums i think I'm in the starting screen (though i don't know, bc i never saw the inside of the game with my own eyes). i should be able to type in my account name and password i guess, but there is no field for that.
maybe my screen setting is off. anybody knows exactly how settings have to be for an iMac os x 10.7.2, 21" screen, 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz RAM?
OK after not playing STO for 4 months i came back to it a couple of days ago. Downloaded the 1.3.2 and patched the game and played no problem! Awesome! I've left the default video resolution and only changed the graphics quality. On the 2nd lowest setting i don't crash at ESD, i haven't tried any higher simply for faster FPS play.

On first start up... I think it asks for setting gamma correction like that. Best to just click past it because it won't work anyways. Is there an ok button in the bottom right of the center area... or can you press Enter and get passed it or anything? I haven't done a fresh install in a LOOOONG time.

Now can you do this for SWTOR? :P
I'd like to, but currently there are some Networking issues in Wine causing SWTOR to not work... its a bit beyond me at the moment, so I'm pretty much just waiting til it gets fixed in Wine. SWTOR is an awesome game though...

yea, you're right. i think too that that's the screen. but i can't click anything. i can't see no button or anything. and enter doesn't work. i tried pressing "tab" etc and nothing.... i'll try to catch the button or smith... its just frustrating that the developers don't think about the mac-people...
Thank you very much for your patience and help doh123!
I'm stuck at the gamma-correction screen after first loading and can't get past it.
I GIVE UP!!!
i would loved to play the game but it seems that if i don't buy my self a windows pc i won't play it (at that won't happen).
its a shame that they didn't make a mac version. if there was, i would have started to play month ago. i would have payed for it... their loss... and mine...

I'm not sure how to make the game think its already done that... as a guess, it may be the pref files...? If you put some in place that are ready to go, maybe it won't ask that on start up?
Try putting the two files in the download zip below in...

hi
funny... bc i gave up i deleted everything. now i thought i give it a last try, and everything (really everything) worked from the start. didn't even had to add your files.... i don't get this... thats typical windows it does what it wants
Before i played in Mac OS X windows mode, so i could easily multi-task. Now however, even if i'm in windows mode, i see the [x] and expand buttons at the top right but behind the active game window is only a black screen. So it's not really in windows mode...it's just the EXE window on top of a black screen now. Any suggestions?
Hi I just downloaded a copy of STO and I have your wineskin for the Mac. I installed the game via the wineskin and I got logged in and got past the cryptic loading screen with the grey loading bar. After that up comes the Star Trek logo and the word loading across the screen After a few minutes I hear Star Trek music and the screen starts to flicker but does not load up the game itself.
I am running on a Mac which has 10.6.8 with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 16 gigs of ram.
I am running the game in Rootless (Windowed Mode) in virtual desktop with a resolution of 1280x800. I have the Installer option left at default for Force Normal Windows. All other screen settings are at default.
I cannot get past the loading screen without problems.
you have to get that yourself... I cannot legally make it available. You need to either have the disc for STO, or do the torrent download of it from http://startrekonline.com/download. You must use the torrent, the other installer/downloader will not work. If you've never downloaded a torrent before, you need some type of torrent program like bittorrent, utorrent, transmission, etc... Once you downloaded the whole game, then you'll have the setup.exe and everything it needs to install.
Where do I get the torrent? O can't find in anywhere.

Thanks.
Try a few times and let it load after patches for a long time... if it hasn't had a new patch, this loading goes a lot quicker.

well it used to be on the download page, but it appears they no longer are making it available.
I'd say you can try to find the client elsewhere you can download, torrent or otherwise (the actual client, not the client downloader program), or use the downloader program in Windows (even in a virtual machine if needed) then copy it over from Windows...
The game doesn't have any new patches. I've tried booting it up more than once and cannot get past the Star Trek Logo loading screen after the cryptic logo loading screen is done. The first time I tried it, it started to get past the Trek loading screen only to go to screens with colored blocks of pixels and nothing else. Second time the game had an error and crashed and I was asked to report the crash and what I was doing which was trying to get the game to load. The last time I tried the game, the same problem I stated to you above happened only this time no Trek Music and the entire computer screen started flickering and then everything froze of sorts. I could still move my mouse around, but I could not click on anything in my dock on my mac since the game is in windowed mode. I tried to do it in fullscreen mode but the game did the pixel thing again after the Trek Logo loading screen again.
I cannot get past the Trek Logo Loading screen what so ever.

Before you log in try running it in Safe Mode, that should help to determine if it's a graphics driver issue or game issue.
Ok the game runs fine in safe mode. I guess I'll just have to play it in safe mode. Thanks a lot that helped a great deal!
You can test how far you can set your settings by then going from Safe Mode to the lowest graphics/display resolution, and if that runs fine bump it up until you get the error. Then you know the safe threshold you can play at.
The instructions for the Dropbox installation instructions say something about a setup.exe file that I need for the installation on WineSkin, but I don't have that. What does it suppose to mean anyway?!
How long does it take to load from the blue STO logo screen?......
Damn first it started to play music then, but nothing was happening so I quit. Now when I start STO it's just a black screen
So I checked the Cryptic folder, every time I open the game it creates
CrypticError.exe and dbghelp.dll
I have this same issue, only after a while of sitting at the STO logo, it will actually pop up a "This Cryptic application has crashed!" dialog and allow me to submit the error or cancel before it dies completely. I've looked through the wineskin app package but I don't see any useful log info.
edit: Trying it again after the crash, I get a dialog at the launcher that says "An error was detected by the game. Would you like to verify all the files?" The files all seem to verify okay and the problem repeats when verification is finished.

Well that's because it wasn't an answer, my STO still doesn't work.....
