There is a memory leak while running the game... I've never claimed this to be a perfect solution :-)
Ok, So I have an 8 gig machine, and never noticed any leak... maybe because I don't play continiously usually but could you describe the leak? for instance in 30 minutes STO occupies xMB of Ram and in 1 hour yMB of ram... Just to get a rough idea.
Somehow my odd X11 issue solved itself. Really wish I knew what happened there, but I guess I'm content for now, even if the resolution problems still persist. STO stuck at 800x600 sure ain't pretty but at least it's consistently stable.
If I knew how to get Windows 7 up and running via Boot Camp on my (supposedly) unsupported Mac Pro 1,1 I'd just pull the trigger on that.

things will slightly slow down over time, then eventually the game will crash with memory errors... I only see this if I had been playing for like 5 or 6 hours.

you really should be able to get higher than 800x600, if Wineskin is set for Override->Fullscreen with the resolution you want to be available in STO selected.
Everything has been working fine for about a month. The Game Worked perfectly until this morning when I was unable to type my login info into the launcher. When I click on the password or username boxes I can't type anything in. Has anyone experienced this before? Does anyone have a solution to this?

I'm Running this on a Macbook Air Mid-2011
I don't know about mac setup but I have seen this happen on the windows side when IE browser has the auto complete(auto form fill ) turned on.

Yep that is definitely the problem! The only thing is that I don't know how to fix it. Internet Explorer is no longer supported on Mac so I can't change anything through the browser. I need a WINESKIN expert to help me on this. Is there someway I can get rid of that AUTOCOMPLETE setting through the package contents?

it shouldn't be set up to allow any type of auto complete.
Your best bet to try first.. download a new copy of the wrapper and just move your installed game over to the new wrapper... see if it still happens. If it does... it may be something wrong with the STO install itself.
hey guys I was just wondering if the port of STO would run on my config.
Intel Core i5 2557m @1.7ghz
4 Gb DDR3 1333 mhz
Intel graphics HD 3000 (I suspect this may be an issue even though it claims to run on windows with this card installed.)
256gb SSD from samsung
if you were wondering, yes I am trying to run it on a july 2011 macbook air 13". normally I would just go straight for my AMD Ultimate Vision laptop but i was curious. thanks for your time!

its a bit buggy, but perfectly playable... I have run it using the HD 3000 for a test on my Macbook Pro 17" and it ran ok.. just have to use lower settings. being your CPU is weaker too, you might have to use much lower settings.
So, here's me trying to play the game, in preparation for it going F2P, but after login, after patching, it gets past the Cryptic Studios, and makes it all the way to the Starfleet Logo... Then the screen flickers for a few seconds, and the computer freezes. I don't know why, and I NEED help.

are you sure its freezing? after patches that screen can stay up a looong time... I timed it after one patch to sit there for 9 minutes, and it seemed to be messed up. It only seems to have super long times on that screen after patching though.
I also have no idea right now if the F2P version will break anything... right now as long as you go in Wineskin.app and choose your resolution you want, and set the game to the same.. it works decently.
Just wondering what the current status of this is (and I can't really tell from the last ~5 pages or the first post); last I knew you had 1 version working without AA and another with corrupted sound. Any further progress?

It appears that you are correct. I feel kinda dumb, but it's nice to have reassurance like this.

in the current one up, AA and sound both work fine... in fact I'd say.. don't turn off AA. On my machine when I have AA turned off there are sometimes some graphical anomalies around the edges of things, depending on backgrounds... but leaving AA at at least 2x should be fine.
I got it installed and it'll let me log in and launch, but I kept getting the cryptic oops screen when it got to the first trek logo after logging in. I disabled/re-enabled UseGLSL and it didn't work; turns out it just didn't like my monitor's weird resolution (it's like 16:8.8). Launched in safe mode, changed it to a 16:10 resolution, it's fine.

So i finally got around to installing the wrapper and the game on my july 2011 macbook air. it actually runs very pleasantly on low - medium graphics settings at a resolution of 1344x840. I was amazed that there was no performance loss from the windows version. this wrapper does a very good job.:)
The only complaint i have is that a message pops up at the launch (after STO login) saying something about insufficient system specs. with three options: use lowered graphics settings, use default graphics settings and quit. ironically it only works if i select the default graphics settings option.
aside from that runs perfectly.:)
It turns out I DO still have the problem of the game freezing my computer up on launch.
I had to turn the Safe Mode on to start the game up without suddenly forcing me into restarting. Which means at base MINIMUM settings for everything, I'm able to run the game fine (until it randomly crashes).
How am I to figure out what settings cause the game to lock my compy up?

I am having basically the same issue. It has a bad time loading in, always re-prompting for video settings (safe mode and not full screen), then once its in it runs fine, but will crash on loading screens randomly.
Any thoughts Mac users?
Btw my question is for a friend, who is legally blind. I am used to PCs, so if there are steps to take, make them baby steps for me to follow.
if you could give information on your system specs. that may prove useful to finding a solution. I hope I can then be of some assistance, unfortunately though, my experience with macs and wine wrappers is also limited.
I had a similar issue with my system (as stated above). The game would only launch once I selected the default/higher graphics settings. Though i haven't noticed any crashing yet, my game also seems to hang at startup (after the cryptic loading screen).
When its "locked" have you hit CMD+Q or used the CMD+Opt+Esc shortcut?
Its very difficult for a Wineskin wrapper to actually cause a machine to lock up... it usually coms down to issues in drivers... but sometimes people think its locked because the game froze, and they just don't know how to get out of the locked in fullscreen mode so they assume their machine is locked up.

It only really locks up after the whole Flicker flest, which I'm not up for testing to see if hitting those shortcuts could solve. What happens is that the screen (the MONITOR) would flicker, and then EVERYTHING would be non-responsive, save for the mouse cursor which does nothing.
Though for what it's worth, I got the game going fine at Windowed Maximized, but otherwise default setting. I'm doing this one step at a time until I figure out what triggers the lock up.

I hope its not your 8600GT.. those are notorious for dying and going out... which is first only seen when your pushing it harder (like a game)... Apple had a recall on those for years and did a lot of swaps, but even the replacements had issues.

I would go through the graphics options and try turning off anything related to dual-core processing and also "keep textures in memory", and manually set your video card ram to whichever yours has (256 or 512, you'll have to check about this mac to be sure).
Also, if the mouse cursor is moving, see if it changes to other things or if you're able to hear it passing over buttons. A few times I've had it where the screen loads but is completely black.

If this is for me, it just seems like it stops loading. I can't give specs as it's not in front of me. All I can say is it tends to load in at about a 50% success rate, and does crash on loading screens some. Other than that it runs majestically.
Thank you so much for this. It runs pretty well, with the occasional crash on my 1 year old Powerbook. However on my newer desktop it loads up just fine but there isn't a cursor. If I mouse around I can eventually get clickable links to respond but still no cursor at all. Any ideas? My desktop has a much better screen & I'd love to be able to use it.

odd issue... you could try turning on the software mouse cursor option in STO settings...?
