Hey guys, so I just paid for the life-time sub and have been playing for more than half a year. Never had a single problem before, but today when I tried to log on I can't get passed the character selection screen, sometimes can't even get to there.

I have unstalled and reinstalled the game and it didn't fix it. Any ideas?

Also, my Klingon toon was in a mission when I logged him out.

Good Luck They don't care I have had a ticket open for nearly a week because the game client has crashed consistently since the new patch and got no responce. I went to their live chat and asked that all lost time be rolled over because it was due to the patch that I have been unable to play the game I pay monthly for and this has happened in other MMORPGs and they have given me those days. They responded that they would not as its a violation of TOS and to just cancel my subscription and submit a ticket (At this point my technical Ticket had been unanswered for over 4 days)

I replied back I felt it was beyond sad that they cared so little for customer service and even blamed me in their wording as if its my fault for subscribing in the first place and told them that I felt they were just robbing my bank account by not just giving me the days which I have and continue to be unable to play the game which is reasonable. They saw otherwise and will not budge, I informed them I would be going above their heads about this and they closed the ticket and said this issue is resolved even if I was not satisfied.

I've played a lot of MMORPGs but I have never been treated so poorly nor with such lack of care for the customer.

I am having the same issue. Was running fine, then since the patch it keeps crashing on me, yet other people I know don't have this problem

Have you tried to disable the Postprocessing effect in-game options? Because if its turned on everything looks red.
    Hope it helps, greetings ;)

None of these suggestions solve the issue I am having with playing Star Trek Online. I was a Beta tester and then played for like two weeks after launch. There were so many bugs I got frustrated and left. I came back and low and behold -I am still having issues. I played through the starting area and was about to go the the star base. It goes to the loading screen, and poof at 34% through I am getting "Server not Responding" and then I am shown the door! This is not inspiring me to stay around. I have sent two tickets and have had no reply to either. I cannot even find a company phone number anywhere to call and talk to someone about this. Please help me. I have tried to make it through with two different characters and the same result happens.

Has anyone seen this error before? Is this a sign I need to re-install the game?

    Fatal error decompressing data.
Technical Details: Error decompressing data. Verifying files in the launcher may fix this issue:
    Texture_Library/Costumes/Avatars/Armor/F_uniform_Armor_04_S.Wt ex:

This happens on any character for holodeck but not on Tribble. I have a support ticket opened up but not sure how long it will take for them to get around to it. I have done the forced verify option and the safe mode option from the launcher with no success. Any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks in advance for any suggestions

best bet is to delete the textures.hoggs files in the /live/piggs folder.
and have the launcher download new ones. (you may need to turn off your antivirus program during the update as some programs will corrupt the files on download like panda 2011)

Cryptic most of this info is completely useless. Just seems like youre pretending to resolve issues. You've seen corruption of all types? Yeah well so have I actually. Downloading straight from the source (YOU cryptic) multiple times. And boy have I done everything in my power to fix this wreckage of a game. The Fatal errors are YOUR fault cryptic NOT ours (most of the time). So if those fatal errors are down to faulty ram sticks (which the error report reported once to me) then FINE. I remove the faulty ones and it works for a short while before TRIBBLE up a decomp of a texture crashing me to desktop. Now like i said in a another post 15 mins ago my 2 remaining sticks are faultless. So unless you can pin it on something else get your act together please and stop feeding us TRIBBLE. There's so much info that on the out look of things its obvious youre just dressing up useless info with colours and organization (table of cont) etc. Yeah that's all very quaint but ONE locked thread where you actually go through this fatal error problem with the other devs (so we can all see) what the hell is causing these failing decompression errors. (As you can see I've had this problem for more than long enough) I SIMPLY want to play this game you have made and that i have paid for WITHOUT something at the back of my head telling me not to rage when it crashs to desktop eventually. I shouldn't have to think like that when I'm trying to enjoy myself. Do you understand cryptic?

If you can not find your technical support solution on the forums, or in the support FAQs, please feel free to contact us.

You can do so here: https://support.perfectworld.com/ If you want to send us a ticket, you may have to create a PWE account and/or associate your Cryptic account to a PWE account.

Or, you can send us an email to customerservice@perfectworld.com

If you send us an email, PLEASE include as much information as you can about your problem.

Which game, where in the game, what kind of problem? Installation, download, update, connection, Windows, hardware, software, antivirus, login and similar problems are.

    Thanks!

So... what if we use the STO homepage's support link? That uses a Cryptic account. Will our tickets be seen if we use that, or are we being forced to either email you or create a PWE account?

The Cryptic Support System is being pushed into the PWE system.

Technical support issues should be going to PWE for fastest response, IF you have already SEARCHED the stickies and posts for an answer to your problem first. ;)

K, and if I don't want to make a PWE account, my only recourse is emailing, then? Or are you going to automatically give me a PWE account with the same log in credentials as my Cryptic account, or something (they did this with Atari as well)? And what happens to support tickets filed at the link that is on the main page (http://support.crypticstudios.com/startrekonline)? If those no longer work, you should take that link down.

It still works, but we are trying to work on getting the demand off theirs and go into PWE's until their demand drops then it will be 100% PWE's support system.

For technical support issues, we can answer a little bit faster and are trying to take those types of issues off the Cryptic support team (to lighten their load) so they can work more on CS/GM/Gameplay and some Billing issues.

    Make sense?

Does indeed. But I've just now clicked the support link on STO's main website. I need to make a PWE account to use that support page. I shouldn't have to make a second account to get out-of-game support.

Edit: When Atari had Cryptic, they automagically made us an Atari account with the same log in credentials as our Cryptic account.

Further Edit: What happened to any open tickets I may have had on the Cryptic support page? There was one that had been carried over from Atari to Cryptic, will it make it to PW?

As the support systems are merged, though, making a PWE account will eventually become a requirement.

I noticed something that has happened in the past week.

On one of my PWE accounts that I linked with Cryptic had a 15 character password. This WAS working for STO some last week. Trying to check something out just now for a player, I could no longer sign in to the game with my 15 character password.

If some of you have the same problem, you might need to change your password to 12 or 10 characters.

It frustrated me for a good 10 minutes until I reset and changed my PWE password that was linked with Cryptic.

    The More You Know...

After you get the game updated and get in game, you can uninstall Pando Media Booster or shut it down (PMB.exe in Windows Task Manager) if you start getting unusual lag spikes, system resource problems, bandwidth issues, or other network issues. Info about pando issues: https://support.perfectworld.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4042

I am pushing for alternative download sources to be put on the download page.

If you do a search engine hunt for "star trek online, free to play, download, 2012 " or something similar, you should find the alternative sources that Cryptic has put out there on the web so far.

My initial search so far found:

    http://games.softpedia.com/get/Online-Games-Clients/Star-Trek-Online-Client.shtml
    http://www.fileplanet.com/208701/200000/fileinfo/Star-Trek-Online-Client

Hope that help some of you all :)

Just to throw it out there, the client is also available on Steam. Also, if you're attempting to download the client through Pando and are using a school network, your access to both the Pando website and PMB may be blocked by the network administrator. This is because Pando acts as a P2P client and many universities block access to their network by such programs for legal issues.

If you are at school, study and get awesome grades first! :p

There is Steam, but please note you don't get any fancy integration with Steam. Just the overlay.

    Hi,

I love the game first of all and Star Trek as a whole.

I have been playing PVP today and it is TOTALLY unplayable

    Problems:

    1. Server time outs in the middle of the action
    2. HORRENDOUS rubberbanding, freezing and hesitation of the whole area (Regardless of the Map)
    3. Just got kicked out of the Arena for the 4th time in a row today.

I played fine for most of the day yesterday until about 5pm and the problem got bad.

This is the worst I have seen it and I have been only playing 5 days or so but now its unplayable.

    Any would be appreciated.

    Steps I have taken:

    1. Turning down graphics to lowest settings or off in the game
    2. Defraging my Hard drive
    3. Downloading all of the patches (No Instant patching)
    4. Checking to be sure my connection was working. (I just got kicked out of the Arena and I am typing this immediately after doing so) So yes its working properly.

I really would like to play this game but not if I can't stay connected.

    Thanks
