Thanks, White Knight.
I ended up getting the Radeon 4650. Not exactly top of the line, but suitable for my purposes. The most graphically intensive games I plan on getting are STO and Empire: Total War, and like I said, I 'm willing to sacrifice astounding graphics for absolutely smooth gameplay.
Thanks, White Knight.

That was a big one. Unfortunately Intel Graphics just suck. Your GPU is so below minimum system requirements that I don't even thing the game will load. There is nothing you can do but buy a better system.
i can also do store pick up from the local best buy but wasnt shure if they had anything that would fit
thanks for you assistance in advance white knight

I suggest waiting a couple of weeks and let supplies build back up. It Xmas time stocks are low on the good stuff..
ordered it from newegg with the link you gave me hopefully it will get here fast planning on going to pick up the rest of the materials today or early next week so i can have any issues resolved well prior to the open beta
just cuious if i wanted to get everything else up and runing befor i get the fan is that possible or is it requred to put the cpu fan on in the beginning of insallation, ie will the comp not funcion/its super difficlult to install the fan after the motherboard is in the case.
oh and one last question do you know if that model already has thermal gel applied like i saw some do or should i pick some up?

It comes with it tube. If you want better stuff I recommend Arctic Silver 5.
got the new system built but unfortunatly i end up with a blue screen when i boot up normally i can boot up in safe mode fine. so far all i have done was install everything and turn on the system anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with it the only stop error i recive is
0x0000007e, 0xc0000005, 0xb8812756, 0xba4c342c, 0xba4c3128
cant get the cd that came with the motherboard to read i keep getting the error can't execute kernel mode driver service
anyone know what i can do to get the system up and running short of a full blown reformat of the hard drive? i always hate doing that cause i have a lot of stuff on it that i would be unable to save
any help anyone can give me or direct me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

The very first thing you do after installing the OS is to install the chipset drivers. Did you do that? I assume this is Windows 7 64. Also it best to use the most up to date drivers from the MB vender site. And what happen to the CPU fan you order? I hope you are not running it without a fan.

i use windows xp still never upgraded to vista and cant afford 7 atm i have been able to start up in safe mode only and went through all the auto hardware updates other then those i have been unable to set up anything or update anything cause i can only boot in normal safe mode which has eveything disabled and i dont know how to enable my network connections to get up to date items from the net. for whatever reason i get the kernal error like i said when i try to use the dvd rom drive. didnt install the os as all i did was move the HDD from the old computer to the new one and turn it on. is that part of the issue there that i am booting off a hard drive thats looking for a different motherboard and processor?
Since you are using a Graphic Card make sure you disable the Integrated Graphic Chip in the BIOS.
You are going to need the floppy drive to install the SATA Drives.
ASUS website.http://asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=lco8LZWTqWIhdLmv
Download NVIDIA nForce Chipset Package Driver V15.45 for Win XP 32 to your desktop. Extract it and go to \15.45-WinXP32\IDE\WinXP\sata_ide. Copy everything inside sata_ide to the floppy. Do Not copy the folder just whats inside.
This will take several hours.
1. In the BIOS set the DVD to first boot and place the OS disk in the DVD player. Make sure the HDD is set to second boot. Also, have the Floppy with the SATA driver in the floppy drive.
2. Install OS
2a. Watch the bottom of the screen "Press F6 if you want to install a third party Raid or SCSI driver." This is where the floppy come in. Make sure you chose WinXP.
2b. Format the hard drive.
3. Install Chipset drivers - Reboot
4. Install Graphic card (Reboot) and monitor drivers. So you can set the resolution. Makes life easier. And Network drivers
6. Finish installing rest of hardware drivers. Check the Device Manager to make sure thing everything is install. If you are prompted to reboot do so. No Shortcuts. Do not worry about external stuff like printer till later.
7. Run Windows update.
8. Finish.
Now you can install everything else. Printer, software etc...
And what happen to the CPU fan you order? I hope you are not running it without a fan. This will fry your CPU.

ok the 2 dvd drives i have in there are the ones that were listed earlyer with the comps basic specs the ones that came in teh dell.
4 gigs of dell brand memory (only just now noticed the brand on those)
ati radeon hd 4650 vid card
the hard dive is the one off the service tag
(all of the above were in the old computer just did a straight pull and install into the new one no changes made to any of it except maybe swapping the master slave on the dvd drives)
new stuff:
asus m4n78 pro geforce 8300 socket am2+ motherboard
cooler master hyper 212 plus cpu cooler
amd phenom x4 9750 2.4 ghz 4mb processor
corsair tx750w power supply
i also added 1 additional case fan which i have running off of the motherboard as there was an available connector for it other 2 case fans are plugged into the power supply
as far as i know i hooked everythin up right as the comp will start and the stuff dose function just get that blue screen

As White Knight pointed out, you're digging your own grave when you move an install of Windows from one motherboard to another without wiping and installing it from scratch.

Hey, cipher_nemo how do you like my install XP instructions? I haven't done XP since Vista came out. I was using nLite back then.
Hey, cipher_nemo how do you like my install XP instructions? I haven't done XP since Vista came out. I was using nLite back then.
I just used nLite a couple of weeks ago. Great tool for making a stripped down install of XP, and now they have other versions out for Vista (vLite) and hopefully for Windows 7 eventually (7Lite?).
As for your instructions, they look good from a quick glance. Though I normally install only the chipset and network drivers before installing SP-3, then the rest of the drivers after it. But it's just an old habit of mine. Remember when drivers needed to be reinstalled after a major service pack change in Windows 2000? Shouldn't make the same difference with XP and later, but old habits die hard.

No floppy yell. I've used vLite. It just takes too much time to setup. This SP2 problem Vista Service Pack compatibility (error 0x80070002). You need Automated Installation Kit (AIK) for Windows Vista SP1 installed. Just too much work since I could use a CD for raid drivers. Windows 7 USB stick. I'm in heaven.

2) umm dont have a floppy drive on the unit if its truly neccessary i have 2 old computers that have them in it from a good 8+ years ago i can go pull one from one of them and use that but is it possible to run it off a usb stick in wndows xp that would make it a lot easyer for me as my laptop which is the only thing i have an internet connection on right now dosnt have a floppy drive either so getting a the download might be a problum
might be able to get an external usb floppy drive will that work i know i have plenty of old discs laying around from my HS days flash drive would be preferred if that would work though

Why don't you just install a new HDD as our OS drive, then transfer your data from your old hard drive later. Don't make this harder then it needs too.

You need the internal floppy drive! XP does not support USB installs. Only Windows 7 does. Remove a floppy drive from one of the older PC temporary. After the install you can put it back.
Or we can use a program call nLite . It we allow us to make a slipstream disk.
nLite is for slipstreaming drivers or service packs onto a Windows CD. Specifically for RAID or SATA drivers, which are needed during installation of Windows XP (or Windows Server 2003), as compared to other drivers, which can be installed after installation. When the computer has no floppy drive, slipstreaming is the only way to install Windows XP (which was implemented before SATA) on a SATA or RAID drive (for which Microsoft hasn't included drivers on the CD).
Make sure you reading the Manuel and those links.
Only let cipher_nemo or myself advise you on this install. Too many cooks in the kitchen ruin the soup. He's the only other person on this forum I know has has done this. I have learn to trust him.

You can't do that. You must install the OS fresh!!!!!!!!!. Download the most current driver for each piece of hardware.
YES!!!!!!!! That is the reason.
Backup your data. You will lose everything if you are using the same hard drive from your old system.
READ THE MOTHERBOARD MANUEL!!!!!!!!! THEN READ IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!
Make sure you read these links. They will go into greater detail then I will.
