Sorry to say . YES I like the beta. Although I will not be purchasing STO afterall and getting my pre-order payment back from gamestop. I feel. That after spending almost 60$ and having to pay a 14.95 a mo fee to play this game and with no single player option to run missions. and a option to select multiplayer "omline" option and subsacribe for that section. needs to be implemented. I played a game back in 2000 called "Motor city online" From EA. Same basis online racing cars tweakin ya rides. and payin a 9.95$ mo subscription and no single player all online based.. sound familiar? Well I fell in love with the game. day n night i played it. then EA pull the servers Left us with a shiny cd and no more ability to play no sale of single player offline patch cd nothing . I would hate to go throught his again with another game on the same basis and NO single player in case Cryptic / atari decides to close the servers and leaves us with nothing. Sorry these are my reasonings. and I think they are valid.

    Its funny funny......

You have alot of different people not really knowing what this game is all about.

Even for the ppl who know what a MMO is they still try to equate the ships in Eva or WoW terms....what ship is the "TANK" , which one is the "Healer"..... lol.

This is Star Trek! There really is NO comparison out there. Not saying its better that the ones mentioned...just different.

You like WoW, Eve, Conan, Everquest.....go back to them....This game is NOT those nor (because of the nature of the game) could it be.

Cryptic has done a great job keeping to the 'Star Trek" canon and code. Thx guys and gals and keep it up!

    I have a lifetime membership!

Im not sure about all that, but I DO agree that it would be good to have a single player version available if the servers get pulled.

I don't think that you are going to have to worry about the servers getting pulled on STO. A suprisingly low number of subscribers can keep an MMO alive, and many MMOs that people pronounced dead (ages ago) are still alive and kicking.
Second, there really isn't ANY way to have a 'single-player' version of an MMORPG, me thinks that you miss a salient point of MMOs. They are meant to be played with LOTS of other people, and IF you played off line it would be; a waste of time... it couldn't be on your toon... any progress would not refelct in the on line game... it just wouldn't work.
Also, this is NOTHING like Motor City On Line. One, that game was a major failure. Two, it was NOT an MMOanything. Last, how the heck are you comparing STO with a fail from 10+ years past? Rest assured, IF you decided to buy the game the servers will be there for years to come, and the way that Cryptic is setting this game up it is going to have a nice revenue stream. One more than adequate to provide funding for additonal content, in the near future. Heck, I would be willing to bet that they have an expasion by this time next year, adding new areas and new 'playable' races.

I disagree, Cruiser's are tanks, Escorts are DPS and Science vessels are Support. You can flame me if you want, but that is the damn truth.

I'll have to try tanking in my cruiser, my science vessel held up pretty good... the escort is a paper doll, but man can they beat them down... a thing of beauty to fire so much ordnance...

Yea escorts are like suicide bombers, science vessels can actually hold out quite a bit better than escorts but the cruiser is the 'tank' right now.

Welcome, to Star Trek Offline. You will spend your time posting on the forums about how the server is down, or calling those who do qq'ing whiner noobs.

Cause the one thing you WON'T be doing, is playing.

Too quote Red Dwarf - The STO server "is about as stable as an Itailian taxi driver, stuck behind two old priests in a skoda"

Dudes, it's not even go live day yet, Head start is nothing more than Open Beta that you get to keep your progress from.
I totally expect that there are going to be server ups and downs and reboots right up until Feb 2nd....of course Im not inclined to be as forgiving AFTER Feb. 2nd.

Thats what popped in my head every day I come look at forums and game always seems be down.

Game looks more and more like alpha testing then a release, barely coming out of alpha testing with all down times and crashes

Alpha Testing, means bare bones of game where mostly developers are designing and testing the game before it goes beta. This usually last for a year or so sometimes few months

Beta Testing, means final testing of game before official launch, where players play and test out bugs. Usually this takes months of testing.

Launch of official means out of bug/crashing/glitches, you don't even have one stable server, let alone any others, how is this even have gone out of beta? I think because all spending of advertisements and your so called ultimatum with saying dead line to everyone on when game comes out.

OK LISTEN UP CRYPTIC you all yet again brought down the servers w/o ANY FREAKING WARNING every day since headstart launch you have been pulling this BS and if you this much to do THEN YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE LAUNCHED A HEAD START. I was in the middle of an away mission its gonna reset the progress with in that part of the mission BECAUSE YOU COULDN"T let us know that you where bringing down the server. If the continues after launch of all this server down time i will demand my money back or i will sue I DO NOT PAY TO NOT PLAY YOUR GAME! If you can't manage the game then u should have never launched and if you continue this YOU WILL have to refund everyone's money and scrub the game. You have 2 games under your belt SO wtf is the problem if u need more then server THEN GET another server i have had enough of having a good time relaxing and enjoying myself and u just kill the server w/o any warning STOP IT!

Scene: Bridge of a Kilngon Bird of prey.

    Act 1:
We see a close up of a computer screen where someone is playing startrek online.
The user is flying a Kilngon Bird of Prey and blowing up federation ships.
We can hear the user laugh in a low gruff voice.

Then we zoom out and see that its a real ! Kilngon using a bridge computer to play the game.

Next we see the Captain angrily shooting the officer/user and saying one word....Ptach
(Sorry not good with my Klingon, I meant to say that Klingon word used for filthy Humans)

    What do you think ?

    any other ideas ??

    Captain's Log, U.S.S. Thor's Hammer:
I sit here in the ten forward of the Space dock Shatner and watch the refit of my old cruiser getting a refit after lying in statsis for 32 years. She was great in her day but with the custom fittings available now that Starfleet has a parts arrangement with StarMart Federation I can see how cool she will look when finished on stardat 0203.10 (Cable gettng installed for no lag issues!) So my membership is paid up for a year, my pre-order is keyed in...just need the cable to get installed and I will board my vessel with a new and great crew to boldy go where NO man, woman, Andorian, Klingon, Romulan, Ex-Congressmen...have gone before. Just as my living in Paragon City, RI has shown it is always good to allow the frantic 15 year olds comb the beta world first and allow the adults into the pool after the major bugs have been resolved and as a true 1st GEN Trekker (10 years old in '66...you do the math) I am going to enjoy living out my second childhood fantasy since COH fiolled in the first one.."Wouldn't it be cool to have a real life Trek experience?"....etc...LOL...okay so now here comes the server (I call 'em waitresses) with my third Margarita with real Blue Agave and real salt...see you guys around the galaxy and I am open to all hails for assisting...
Logan Mercury...formerly of Starfleet Command 1, 2,(yeah even stinky old 3!)

I pre ordered and played the open beta and tried to play in the headstart.
Constant log queue issues and server down time made it where there shouldn't have been a headstart at all

Now the retail version is out and I am unable to log in (cannot authenticate messages) and cannot add my retail key because the server is not available???

So I can't play the game, cannot unlock my preorder special add ons, but i can complain. Since that is all I'm left to do.
I've opened three tickets about my issues and the Cryptic team have either ignored them or no one is home.

I like to think that they are all working hard to correct the worst release day in history of MMOs or Star Trek for that matter but they are probably using the money I (and many others) paid for the game to buy drinks or something.
