Unfortunately you need to enter a mode of payment when you activate your key. There is no way around it. Otherwise you will not be able to play.
The copy that I have I got for $20. In this I can not acess all of the game. when I installed the game and paid for another mth, but still can't get anywhere.Do I have to pay the $60 for the "other game"?
Sorry guys, I played this until i got to RA then it lost interest.
Combat, combat, combat and no exploration/first contact leaves a bad taste in one's mouth.
when you get it to the point where it's exploration, first contact and beaming down to ANY planet, i'll join back up. Until then, have fun blowing each other up.

I payed for 1 month sub but i believe i wont be goin much after that atm.
Yes, indeed, this STOL MMO is totally AWESOME. I have been with it since Beta - 398.87 days (almost 400 Club - YAY for me) and I have absolutlely enjoyed every minute of it and continue to ENJOY TREMENDOUSLY THE GAME FOREVER AND EVER, AMEN.......
God Bless all the people tha have anything to do with STOL - they are Fantastifc Individuals!!!
Thak you Cryptic, STO developers, writers, programmers, ane everyone else involeved in the project. This is the game that I've been waiting 20 years for the technology to catch up to to our imagingations and I cant get enoujgh of it!! The story contitnuity and cannon detail are above and beyond and add a flare of "I rememeber this from Voy or TNG, DS9, Enterprise, or TOS." The customization options from starships to away teams is awesome and adds a Jena se Qua to the game. Thanks again, and KDF look out for the Pegasus commanded by Captian Robert Perry King!!!
Just want to say that I am an old member on the STO community and have been there since its inception. However; this is my first welcome to STO post, go figure, lol. Just want to give a shout out to the entire STO Community and look forward to hours of gamepley online. like all things, nothing is perfect, but this is the only Star trek MMORPG out there, and I welcome it as it relates to one of my favorite series, "Star Trek."
Hi all this is my first time playing an MMO, and i must say im hooked. As a Star Trek fan im a little bias, but that has nothing to do with how awsome this game is(well maybe just a little ) Keep up the good work Cryptic!!!

An MMO virgin? Your a rare breed.
STO is not the best MMO. I don't think any MMO is necessarily the best.
An MMO is either good enough, or its not.
STO is definately good enough.
I had a blast for over 3 months when I preordered and played when it launched.
Now I am back with F2P and having fun again and at some point I will probably get the itch to spend a little real cash for the added extras.
To me if an MMO is good enough it will hold your interest for a good while and like any MMO at some point you get burned out and take a long vacation. Add to that any MMO is subject to the personal taste of the player, so what is good enough for some is just not what others will ever be interested in.
If it turns out it was good enough you eventually come back for more. If you don't come back for more then it was just not for you in terms of taste, or it was just not good enough.
Like you I am a Star Trek fan, so taste is not the issue. Since I am back it must be good enough. For me at least it is.
Hello, Vic Rattlehead here, just popping in to say hi to everyone and Yes, I am back Cryptic! Good Job on all the improvements to the game; A few glitches here and there, but to be expected and not that bad. Some missions can be done out of order causing the User to have to replay mission, but thats user error so... NBD. I am very impressed with what you have done with the Klingon Faction! Awesome work. Are You still working on adding other factions??
I fly K.D.F. & Federation so look for me ppl! I will help out or team-up, or just guide you.
Sooo.
George of the Universe!!! Watch out for that Rock!!! -HeeHee
P.S. Cryptic - Why am I still a Junior Member??? I Been here a few years....

Ever notice the similiarites between STO now and SWG at launch? Some shining examples:
1) Chat bugs. Both games have had chat channels go down. This is BASIC programming stuff. Only MMOs that I can think ofthat suffered from this, off the top of my head, are SWG and STO.
2) Group Bug. Namely that when a group tried to entered a particular area/zone, some would get in and others couldn't could not. Alternately, and this recently happened to me in STO, some mebers of the group enter one instance of a zone while others enter another. Yeah we tried to regroup into the same instance by using the Change Instance function in the map... didn't work.
3) Random server crashes. I have recently returned to STO after being a little over a year and am dismayed by having the server coming crashing down unexpectedly three times in the last week.
4) Constantly bringing the servers down for "maintenance" and patches. BOTH games seem to suffer from this... now don't get me wrong, I am glad to see that they are trying to fix things but honestly, patching every other day? Why? And why the silence from Cryptic over all this down time? Same thing happened in SWG right after launch. Server would be brought down as much as 6-8 times during prime time play PER DAY. Now STO isn't that bad... yet but I could easily see it getting that bad.
5) SWG was obviously not ready to be launched when it was... the bugs were numerous. Now STO seems to be imitating that. Sure, if all you do is login for DOFF missions and chatting, you're fine. BUT if you actually try and PLAY the game, you will run into some kind of bug every hour, more if you are doing FE or STF. I had to try Second Wave three times before I got credit for completing it. The first two times, It simply sent me all the way back to the beginning.
6) Changing the game to the point of rewriting it. When I came back, after having been gone a year, I noticed that ALL of my skill point for all of my toos and their BOFF were reset. In fact I noticed that many ofthe skills had changed and that a lot of things were very different from the way they had been. Now SWG took this to an extreme and compltely rewrote the game... TWICE. The way things are going with STO, a complete rewrite ofthe code could easily happen. Some of you may be tempted to think of this asa good thing but look at what happened to SWG. It destroyed the game. Multiple server merges... and the game still died.
Ok... I could EASILY list more similarities but I think you get the point. Thankfully, STO hasn't reached teh critical mass that SWG did. Things can still salvaged here. SWG is dead (game went offline for good on Dec. 15th, 2011). Now maybe I am wrong here... but I think its all these bugs that are causing the game to go down so often. To fix this I propose the following:
1) Let's have a Bug Smashing Event. Every player submits as many different bug reports as they can. The guy/gal/it who reports the most gets 100,000 cp. 2nd place 50,000cp and 3rd place 25,000 cp.Yes I know that seems like a lot buts its three accounts out of over 10 million. Small in the scheme of things. But such a huge reward would attract a LOT of partipants. Huge Lottos have the same result. When this event was over, the devs would have a list of bugs that is pretty thorough. They could then see which bugs got reported the most and repair those first, working their way down the list.
2) Suspend new content until at least half of the list was done. Maybe 80% would be even better. The devs should be divided into teams. The team that repairs the most bugs without creating new ones by the dealine (say we went with the 80% mark... 3 months or so would win one extra week of vacation... or at least a free dinner at a nice restaurant (possibly even to recieve a trophy or some other sort of recognition).
3) Repeat the event every year. After three years or so of this, the game should be relatively bug free.
My apologies for the long post. I know its a lot to take in but if you read it all and think about it, I think you will see that I am right. I would really like to see this game improve and become much better than what it is and eliminating the bugs should be top priority.

Yeah, and WoW changes, drastically, every 6 months or so. Another example of a game that just died fast...
I'd like to know when we will start flying our ship's from within the ship and give specific commands to the tact officer via a computer mic and also when will we get a brig and other ammenities especially for gold member's like deck's and a cargo hold to a shuttle bay.

I've actually seen all these issues you've mentioned in other games. I think every game I've played has had every thing you've mentioned. Some multiple times.

I'd say with your all's lack of competence in several categories, it could be put into review for change.
