I understand the concern, so I want to assure you we aren't planning on never making another Romulan or Jem'hadar ship. I was just chatting with our concept artist, Hector, about designs for those guys. That being said, with everything that we're putting together for Age of Discovery in the fall, and the Anniversary in 2019, I wouldn't expect to see those ships right away. As always, we'll keep you updated.
I wanted the New Orleans for a while, I'm extremely satisfied that it's finally making its appearance in STO.
The New Orleans took a wrong turn at the Wormhole. But it did make it after taking a few short cuts. Instead of 75 years, it only took 31 years game years to get to STO.
So, with Romulans (and Jem'hadar too) now being able to fly all of their allied ships, that means no future romulan designs? Sadtimes.
Now we know the real reason they gave the roms and jems access to the allies ships, less work they have to do designing ships, welcome to the future. Rom and Jem ships are going to be much rarer now.
New home of the Romulan Republic.
I have an idea for what Season 11 should be; Season 11: The Big Bug Fix.
I have not been able to read my bug tickets in over a year, not even the tickets about not being able to see my tickets.
I find the drama of your signature proof of your immaturity, this means you, DR whiners.
I'm interested, but i'd like to know more about the stats first.
Probably pilot or miracle worker specialization.

One question I do have, is the Lafayette going to have the traditional Nawlins as an alt skin? (Never been a fan of the Andromeda, I don't like the square nacelles.

It became very clear that not nearly as many new Romulan ships would be made in the future when they allowed Romulan captains to fly their respective ally's endgame ships. I'm not the least bit surprised.
Can't wait to see the in-game model of the New Orleans class. That's definitely the model I'm going to use.
these look good, not shocked at the lack of a warbird, but disappointed none the less... Still I might just whip out the $$ for these, always like ships that are in that gray zone between cruiser and escort.

Yeah, this was pretty much firmly telegraphed that from that point on, Romulans were getting short-sticked.
You want to surprise me, come out with a set where the Federation gets the short end of the stick and we see Romulan, Klingon, and Jem'hadar, but no Fed.
You say short-shafted. I'm surprised it took them this long to slow development on new Rom ships. Hell for that matter I'm shocked we have as many KDF ships as we have. Reason why is the culture-we see the Federation pumping out new ships like Chevy does new models of Corvettes. Meanwhile, we have the KDF still using ship designs that have been flying in space for a century or more, and the Romulans, who seem to operate under the philosphy of "If it works, why move from it" with only like 2 major ship designs that we've seen on the series, with Shinzon's Scimitar being a loose third. Not a ton of room to operate there, and I'm pleasantly shocked Cryptic has been able to do what they have with them. But with limited material to work off of, inspiration can only take you so far before you begin to shift so far from designs that ships no longer look proper. I would bring the Romulan pilot ships as evidence of this, tbh. Some of those to me look more Klingon in nature, not Romulan. Doesn't shock me that things would start slowing down as the pool dries up. Besides, as it sits now, by technicality the Jems and Roms now have more ship selection than Feds do (operating under the assumption that most would choose to ally with the Federation DUE to ship selection now), so while I see that it's disappointing that they're not getting unique ships anymore, I see no basis for complaint either.
That's just my two cents anyway. Really can't complain with getting the entire backlog of Federation ships to fly, as silly as I think that is in STO's canon. "Hey Roms, and Jem'Hadar captains who aided Odo in pretty much plunging the Alpha Quadrant into a war with the Hur'q, we see that you need more ships, so yeah, let's put aside our issues and let you command a Federation starship, how's that sound?"
Roms I can SORT OF get (even though I have NEVER heard of an ally willingly giving another nation the privilege of commanding their craft before-some things you wouldn't even trust an ally with, after all. You ever hear of the US Navy giving the British the permissions to be able to command a prototype destroyer before?), they've been a close ally of the Federation for a while now, but the Jem'Hadar? Seems a bit impractical from the standpoint of canon (STO canon that is) that we would willingly allow someone who nearly destroyed the Federation not even a century ago and forcibly plunged us into a war with a race that we otherwise would not have been fighting yet OUR FREAKING TECHNOLOGY.
My Romulan captain is disappointed however she understands that you may be short staffed in relation to everything going with the development of STO. That being said, WHERE IS MY T6 VULCAN SHIP (and I don't mean that weird TRIBBLE design)!

This is massively disheartening to say the least. If you guys didn't actual plan on making new Romulan ships for the better part of a year better communication on the subject would have been appreciated. Furthermore if both the Romulans and the Dominion are going to be left in the wilderness for an extended period of time it'd be nice to at least have an "allied" skin for these ships that better matches the Romulan or Dominion aesthetic and allows for the use of their respective ship skins.
But all in all as someone who really loves the Roms and what STO's made of them this feels like a punch in the gut. And that's to say nothing of how this feels for Dominion players whose faction isn't even a year old and hasn't even gotten a veteran reward ship.

Nice ships! I'm curious of their stats. Will they be Fleet level?
it's sad that there are no Romulan counterpart. I wonder, this will be the norm, from now on…
I hope not.
Canon ship, so no - won't be Fleet Level straight out of the box. There'll be a Fleet variant too.
Actually pretty surprised at this one to be honest - the Vor'Cha is at least a very close contemporary of the New Orleans class.
Is this not a T6 Vor'Cha in all but name?

Or remodeled Nova/Rhode Island or Sabre. Just a ship we've never even seen in one piece onscreen.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Romulans stole it
Please - not "stolen", it was, ah, a "cooperative effort" with their new Vulcan allies. I mean, just because none of the actual personnel in the Vulcan Design Bureau signed off on it...
We're not, not making ships for a faction we pushed as a faction, we're just 12 months out for actually making one of those ships... You know... 'cause ship making is hard. Except all those other times we proved we could make ships in about a month. Excuse those though... we're too hard at work on our next 3-mission update and the singularly anniversary mission to focus on the parity problem WE created. To ease this stress on players we coaxed into this "faction" you can just use the T6 ships of your chosen allies... You know, after telling you that we were committed to making this faction it's own thing which is why we locked you out of their top tier ships to begin with.
I know you're not to blame for this response Kael. I just hate that you have to be the one to say it. It should be the new EP or Ricossa making this response. THEY'RE in charge here.
We don't want what the Feds have. We want the equivalent. We want fairer treatment. Concern, desire, greed to some extent, and passionate belief that the enough people would buy KDF items to make it worth Cryptic's while.

That still doesn't really answer the question of why they aren't any designs for those ships. I mean, you JUST came out with Victory is Life about a month ago and don't have new ships in the works for those guys? And once again, Romulans not getting their own variant isn't anything new.
Whatever, this ship doesn't look that interesting. Another Cruiser-Escort hybrid type ship that I'm sure is gonna come with the same copy-paste 1 Commander, 2 Lt. Commander, 1 Lt. and 1 Ensign stations.

They've said they intend to make a vet ship for Jem'Hadar. It just wasn't ready for ViL release day. With staff working on Age of Discovery stuff, you only have so many resources available for other things, such as these ships. Sounds like they only had time to make Fed and Klingon ships for them, but also sounds like a Romulan one may be on the drawing board.
We gotta consider all possible variables, not just jump to the Worst Case Scenario of "THEY LIED TO US" in regards to still making Romulan ships.
Don't forget they're working on a LOT of new stuff right now, ranging from new missions to new ships and weapon models, and have things in the works at least up to the next Anniversary. AND they gotta do work on at least 3 different platforms. Seeing even two ships now after ViL with all that going on is honestly a surprise.

Yes, it is.
That is some mangled grammar right there.
Better to say that you intend to continue making JH and Rommie ships honestly, unless that's not actually the case?
Can't wait to see the in-game model of the New Orleans class. That's definitely the model I'm going to use.
this is great! I guess it could be better if there were Romulan and Jem'Hadar versions
or...
...if the ship split open and a T6 Nova flew out
I heard the T6 Nova could end world hunger
If this wasn't enough, with the coming ST-D there's still no Romulans anywhere, therefore no content for at least another long while.

Surprised no one has brought THAT up yet.
Klingon one, of course.

Not even a Cardassian Version?!
Yeah so much for when Romulans are allowed to fly affiliated Ships we don't stop making Romulan Ships!
Guess less Ships i might consider to buy if it ain't Romulan no buy for me.
