I'm afraid of level cap raise. Delta rising wasn't a pleasant experience.
The issue with delta was not specifically the level cap raise, but was more the shift in the stfs, and the increase int he hull/shield-points of the enemies.
Still escapes me why Jem Hadar "faction". What happened with the Dominion?
They're around (see. the 2800 arc, Midnight, and Sylla and Charybdis), but our Jem'Hadar may not be affiliated with the Dominion. Odo could be gifting us to the Alliance or we're coming into the STO universe from the perspective of the True Way. We'll just have to see.

Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
old level cap was 50... T5 ships. Delta bumped it up to 60 so T6. This expan bumps level to 65... so still T6. years after this expan... new xpan will bump level cap to 70 and you will see T7 ships.
There's a major difference, you are describing real world devices that are gradually improved by new technological advances. Ships in STO are digital items that have their capabilities determined by variables on a spreadsheet, not by limitations of technology.
So you mean like a new version of an operating system (or other wholly digital good with graded versions), same difference. Regardless of the base, it's still planned obsolescence and proceeds along the same lines. With STO ship tiers it's a question of design and player motivation, in addition to the cost of development, since this content has to function in the psychological context of a game.
New operating systems are released to both take advantage of new technology, and to provide new capabilities to content creators. Mobile operating system updates are also free, and while the cost of future Windows versions is unknown Windows 10 was a free update for at least a year. I despise Apple (I really wish my work would give me something other than a POS iPhone 7) so idk what type of pricing OSX has these days. Programs like photoshop have also moved to a subscription model rather than charging a full purchase price every time a new version comes out.
I'm so ready for this all my toons are at level 60 and there rep systems are also fully completed. think I might as well make a new toon for this new faction
Star Trek Online is incredibly proud to announce our fourth major expansion, Victory is Life. Paying homage to fan-favorite Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, this brand-new expansion will bring Captains to the Gamma Quadrant and beyond, in a new story kicked off by the invasion of the mysterious Hur’q. You’ll be able to play as a brand new faction, the Jem’Hadar; experience six new episodes in the Star Trek Online story; and interact with ten of the original cast members from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. We’re so excited to announce four of those actors for you here today, with more coming in next few weeks.

Most of the complaints about DR were made up overblown whining dramatics that had zero actual basis.
You do seem to have a tendency to quickly dismiss things with overblown dramatic statements with zero actual basis yourself
To engage further in a thread about a 2018 expansion is probably getting close to pushing things with respect to being off topic. If you and others enjoyed DR and are of the opinion that it added positively to the game and it's player base that's great, I'm glad you liked it. Perhaps the Victory of Life expansion will be the best yet.
So, per the Twitch Q&A they just did, six episodes is a good estimate of what will launch with the expansion. Also sounds like (but was not directly said) Jem'Hadar won't be getting any exclusive missions.
I would just like to mention that with Odo and Kira coming into STO, while I think they will make the upcoming story interesting, I think the most important character to add is Sisko, and here's why (spoiler in last episode of DS9):
Sisko, after fighting Gul Dukat in an ancient Bajoran temple, joins with the Bajoran Orbs or enters some sort of afterlife. Either way,
his wife gets one last chance to speak to him, and he says that he will return.
If any of you have ventured into the office on DS9's "bridge", you might have noticed a baseball encased in glass (below, I took and edited that screenshot for a montly contest years ago, won 2nd place), which is symbolic throughout DS9 of Sisko. I think it is imperative to show the return of Sisko eventually in STO.
Edit: Ok actually I didn't read the entire post about the expansion, but I still hope you can get Sisko in!!!!
Also, one more thing to note (another spoiler about DS9's plot):
Actually hoping that we see more than just Jem'hadar as an option in the new faction, though by making it a Jem'hadar faction they get around the fact of the dominion ships. Since the Jem'hadar could be from any background like alpha quad jems, rebel jem'hadar in the delta quad that the Har'q might ave done something too, or even that Odo might have worked towards to some degree change how the Founders treated an looked at the races in the Dominion (like the Vorta, and Jem'hadar.).

I am starting to believe that they were originally going to do a Cardassian faction but players were expecting them to do a dominion faction so they eventually changed their minds, and decided to give them any new Cardassian ship designs they thought up.
LoR was a good time for the game whereas DR had huge XP gaps
Depends on your preferences, personally I enjoyed the story to DR more than LoR (which I felt was a little perfunctory). Tip for commentary: don't try to speak for anyone but yourself or use perceptions of a forum as a proxy for the reaction of the entire community (that way, madness lies. We're a vocal minority and threads have an inherent confirmation bias.)
I enjoyed DR as it was, and it was people afraid of effort that complained the most. They should never have changed it, especially the patrol side-missions.
[Ie. new end-game missions, not just new faction missions (just like AOY).
Yes, which exist beyond the 6 missions the new Jem'Hadar faction will get.
Direct quote again:
"This brand-new expansion will bring Captains to the Gamma Quadrant and beyond, in a new story kicked off by the invasion of the mysterious Hur’q. You’ll be able to play as a brand new faction, the Jem’Hadar; experience six new episodes in the Star Trek Online story; and interact with ten of the original cast members from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."
The six new episodes are not listed as being for the Jem'Hadar (any more than the ten cameos...oi.) At present, we do not have any information on what the Jem'Hadar faction will actually entail.
Sounds interesting but the Jem'Hadar will fade after its initial story line and then follow the fed point of view in generic missions that is exactly the same for all factions, just like the Romulans and the KDF. So I am not sure what the point is in investing in a another faction. Just my opinion. I am just hoping they do not repeat the same mistake they made before.
When the went to tier six ships they, pissed allot people off, who invested in picking up all tier five ships, as a result people did not buy in to the tier six like they had for the tier five ships. I hope they do not up the tier of ships to tier seven, I would rather keep the ships at the current tier of six.
They already point blank confirmed there wont be T7s.
They never said we will not get a ship upgrade. The new Dominion ships will probably come with an extra console slot like the Miracle worker. Maybe whole bundles of ships with this extra slot. Don't you think if this happens others eventually will want to upgrade their ships to this new tier? So sell all the new shinnies - with the expansion - then announce the sale of an upgrade token EQUALS = $$$$$$$ - don't tell me that Cryptic and PWE will pass up an opportunity to get $$$$$

My whole point on this topic has been that this 'expansion' will be the smallest yet when it comes to episodes.

Not opposed to bringing back Sisko. Am opposed to doing what the novels did with him and reducing him to just another Starfleet hero captain. I think as far as his relationship with the Prophets, they kinda need to leave well enough alone and deal with him as Sisko the Spiritualist rather than Sisko the Starfleet Officer.

I saw a only a portion of my original comment buried in your post so will add some context.
To be clear and complete, I'm not complaining about DR and am definitely not afraid of a little effort. I actually enjoyed the higher difficulty enemies and the challenge they provided at the time.
However for a significant number of people who were more casual players the xp gaps and enemy difficulty increase caused them enough frustration to leave the game. I'm not the first person to state this by a long shot. As a member of many fleets and leader of a couple I find it more than just a coincidence that many roster last in-game dates appear to correlate with the release of DR. This is most likely why they fixed those xp gaps.
Criticizing the game or it's designers seems to draw a fair bit of flack here but don't take it the wrong way. It's quite possible that sometimes criticism stems from caring for the game and it's future and hoping past missteps aren't repeated. Another DR wouldn't be healthy for the game.

welll, the DID release this:
Reminds me of the USS Altair:
looks more like a high-detail gul vystan with wider wings to me
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
Passion and Serenity are one.
I gain power by understanding both.
In the chaos of their battle, I bring order.
I am a shadow, darkness born from light.
The Force is united within me.
