This issue is getting out of control! I thought that it was business as usual just like after every season or new major update we have this problem. I figured it would be fixed a week or so after the season release. However weeks later this is still a problem. I get kicked anywhere from 5 mins of playing to 30mins 2-3 times an hour. What the heck is the problem get this fixed ASAP!
Just before the servers went down I got extremely basd lagging and prayed I could compete cracked core because at the rate the servers are going I was in no mood to start it all again on advanced from the start where you have to take on 3 warships and 9 frigates without support..Also to mention when i started that battle I entered the system and started with the first three ships and was lagging like mad then got thrown so far ahead I though ok I am still with those three until I realised that it was the second group of three ships and had the first 3 also gunning me down..So basically the lag put me in a screwy place in the middle of 6 ships....
It really is sad that yet another patch day has come without a mention of this problem. Even STO youtubers have it happening on their videos. This isn't a "let's hope it will work itself out" kind of issue. This needs to get resolved. My patience is certainly wearing thin, I know you guys feel the same way...

Some guy on another thread calling a majority of players or rather all that are having server related issues, ignorant seems to think we are all a bunch of fools for blaming the CRYPTIC SERVER and he like CRYPTIC support says its our ISP's..
Back to the server issues, well yeah its becoming a real pain..Got DCd while playing a long mission on elite twice and had to start over..And now SNR's are hapening at 0%-2% during map transfers..Alpha quad has become laggy as hell in sector space..Missions are a different story..

That's because he's a vulgar narcissist and his only reason to be here is to be obnoxious and rude to compensate for his lack of dangly bits. Just ignore him and move on. Not worth the effort or the time.

True that and actually he doesnt have any recent posts that I can see in this network section..
I do believe that STO is running on older Pentium 2 servers, they just seem to be running at max capacity all the time!
We know that our player abillities and boff abillities require lots of calculations to be made by the servers and all Cryptics games are using the same network wich might also be under a lot of stress!
Then again it might just be an issue with the gamesoftware on their end!
We might see an improvement once the console release is done, so we'll have to wait a few months!

Well, for the moment, the last 2 patches seems to have cleared up whatever connection issues I was having. I get a maybe 2-3 SNR's per day for about 8-10 sec., no DC's. A big step up from DC's every 5-10 minutes.
Not played that much since the last patch maybe an hour or two since it patched so cant really comment on DC's but SNR's still happen but a tad bit quicker at 0-2%

Lol of course he is, meanwhile my wife can load another MMO in the other room, playing on the same ISP/modem/router setup and play for hrs per day for days on end and never get a burp.

It's just the same old deny everything bs.
That guy claims he isn't stupid, yet, his stomp-your-feet-like-a-child mentality screams otherwise.
His willful ignorance just amuses me. In all the time I've been playing this game (since beta, with breaks here and there), I'd never previously had SNR's or disconnection issues until that one particular patch on June 16th. Come the July 27th patch, the problem is more or less gone (for me, at least).
Nothing on my end changed. Same system, same internet, same network hardware and setup. Yeah, I must be imagining that it was an issue with that particular update. /sarcasm
I'm going to jump on this thread about my week of disconnects. (No reason to start anyone right?) This week it started on map transfers. About one a night for a few days straight. Then about mid week it picked up the pace, two a night if not more, I cannot even make it through a mission without a disconnect. Today Saturday July 30th 2016, I'm on #6 in the last 3 hours. I don't get disconnected when playing other F2P MMO's. Come on network guys, please fix this.
I come back and play STO every few months. The constant SNRs and disconnects are one reason why I can't stick with it. It hasn't improved since launch (in my experience), it was the exact same during the Legacy of Romulus arc, the Delta Recruit arc, now Agents of Yesterday. Every time I come back and play this game, it's always the same story: constant SNRs during mission loading screens (often reaching 30 seconds or more before it finally kicks over), and constant rubberbanding and SNRs during general play during the weekends.
As someone who has played this game on and off since launch, I can say it hasn't changed. It felt cobbled together from bits and pieces of the City of Heroes engine in the beginning, and piling more stuff on top of it hasn't changed what it is: an aging MMO built on the bones of a decade-old, third-rate engine.
The tech guy at Centurylink mentioned the term virtual servers, and suggested that they are the cause of the all the latency. lag, and throttling issues we are experiencing. The more the server host over sells/uses the virtual servers, or over loads the main server with excessive virtual servers, the worse thing will get for those trying to connect to those servers. Their test showed that the STO servers were very connection problematic with high latency issues.
What happened to those unique forum ranks I paid for?
I have yet to have a disconnection from this game lately. However, I do have the very occasional server-not-responding scenario... but not very often at all though. They have always solved themselves and only happen during map loading.
I've been getting the odd crash as well, and today everything is so slow, laggy, and all around frustrating, could play fine yesterday, but today is terrible, even affecting dilithium mining.
I've had a professional network admin look at the various tracert's people have been posting, and from what he's learned, this is neither a connection, nor a routing issue. The connections are routing just fine. This is something specific to the server that was initiated by the June 16th maintenance, as the problem started after that update (at least for me). Whatever it was that they did is causing these disconnections and it would be nice if they would at very least acknowledge the problem so we know they're looking into it, as the lack of communication is what's so infuriating. It's getting pretty ridiculous being DC'd every five minutes to every hour.
Hey--about those disconnects: I'm in (sort of) Central Florida--west of Daytona--and every Sunday from about 3PM-3:30PM I lose my connection to Cryptic. Every. Darned. Game. (But, for the sake of needless enumeration: STO, NW, CO.) The disconnects don't seem to happen at the same time, though. STO is usually first, between 3:05 and 3:10, and NW is last, around 3:30. I haven't checked CO because I don't play it that often, but I have tried to get in during the outage window and I can't, so I'm assuming it's in the middle. (Famous last words, probably.)
IIRC Cogent actually hosts the Cryptic servers, so my take is that it's something inside the Cogent server farm that's undergoing a scheduled maintenance restart, because it's stupid bloody regular. Traces appear to get from here to there, but connections on the actual game ports just die. Maybe it's an LB restart?
The intermittent drops that everyone sees could be due to simple overloads on the same hardware that gets tripped every Sunday.
I can't posit that what I see is the same for everyone since I start out inside Brighthouse and go up through (I think) Level3, and eventually within Cogent. I've not seen anyone say they see exactly the same thing as I see because even though I share the region with a couple of folks, we're not all on the same providers. At the same time, all routes run to Cogent--so does it make sense to conclude that it's just one part of the hardware behind the LB that fails under load? They could be losing entire VMs but I don't know how they're set up internally, so speculation gets me nowhere.
As a network engineer, I'm a hell of a programmer--I only do Sys Admin stuff as a sideline because no one else wants to do it at my facility, and they don't let me into the network room at all. I'm just trying to surmise using 30 years of experience with computers as a programmer and dealing with customers who said the connection issues were on our side of the equation.

I find it happens far more random. Like yesterday, I went nearly 6 hours without issue, then a bunch of 8-10sec. SNR's back to back every few minutes for about 20 minutes after midnight (Eastern time). The day before, it happened a few times during midday. Before the last couple of patches, it was all over the place.
I turned off on-demand patching and I'm not getting SNR's on map tranfers as often, but it still happens with fleet bases.
But, as you said, it could intermittent overloads. That's what my network admin suggested. As to the cause, no way to know.
Yeah i'm having rampant disconnect issues as well, about every 5 minutes I get booted, whereas I have no issues at all with any other online games or services that I use.
lol these missions are like getting teeth pulled, rubberband all over ships, and why for the life of me you seem to DC more in "missions" where it is "the" most annoying place to do so is beyond me.
Just like after DR when it launched, every button click is a 3+ second delay, space and ground deaths due to lag and not knowing what your current status is.
20 second lapses in mission dialouge, then massive rubberbanding, honestly, fire ppl and hire ppl who are qualified to get this TRIBBLE sorted out.
Doing the delta arc atm and it's just horrible, simply surviving with lagged responses is a skill in itself.
Today it is downright oppresive, you do more fighting just rubberebanding and relogging through missions than killing the enemy.
Maybe if they spent some of the money they've made shilling people for lifetime subs on servers that aren't 15-year-old City of Heroes beta servers, things would improve. But, as that old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" - people are still dropping money on this game, so there's no pressure for the devs to spend money updating the software or hardware. If this issues persist in the console version that's launching soon, console STO is going to be stillborn.

i JUST STARTED DELTA AND i WANT TO GIFT WHOEVER AT CRYPTIC IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SERVERS AN ARMED NEUTRONIC TORPEDO!!
The lagging is horrible and the SNR's come with a vengeance at times
But the DC's arent really that much now shockingly.. I bet this is a new expansion..STO: THE VENGEANCE OF CRYPTIC SERVERS..
Been having this issue since I came back to check out AoY a few weeks ago. I'd say I've been getting booted once an hour maybe more. This morning I logged in for the first time today and immediately got the eternal loading screen. It's happening mostly when I change instances/ maps.
Well so far so good in terms of DC's since the last patch..Not one DC till today since the last patch.SNR's and sudden lags well there is enough to go around especially in the delta quad..
EDIT: I spoke too soon!!! Got a sudden disconnect in the middle of a delta grind mission..

Well, that's another problem entirely. Are you able to run the game in safe-mode?

Rubberbanding at will today, just dcd from a mission, must be my isp.
Anyone who thinks this company will ever get it together and maintain a quality product is fooling themselves.
PWE has the money to fix everything wrong with this game, they just wont, too cheap.
The code in this game is a mess, a new server needs to be bought the entire game code downloaded and fixed.
New ISP providers need to be contracted to clean up all these hops.
I dont care what anyone thinks, none of this will ever happen.
People will rubberband, snr, dc and deal with an infestation of bugs until the day it shuts down.
