Go and purchase a
Subspace Party Nullifier, available from
Greelan on Drozana Station, or
Woadie in Quark's Bar on DS9, for the affordable price of only 100 GPL.
Yes, this information should be stickied somewhere or included with an already existing sticky. Yes, the functionality of this should be standard. Yes, it will eat up an inventory slot. However, that is the price Cryptic demands you pay to make yourself immune to the disco balls.

Why? Everyone that wants one has the ability to get one themselves. It's not like they have to run a reputation project or craft one.
If true, thank you for the added tip.
If troll, well played.
Because some people are happy to spend the extra miniscule amount of GPL and the little bit of time it takes to pick these up, to support people they play with, I guess.
"let's dance around, antagonize, and point fingers and laugh while people get anrgy"
It's really straight forward.
But hey, trolls are people too...
Morning is something for families and friends.
There is nothing for us to morn in the passing of Leonard Nimoy. I celebrate his life and the accomplishments he has made. His acting touched many, his art many more, his kindness in a world lacking enough of it was inspirational to countless more.
I choose to mark the passing of Mr. Nimoy this afternoon with party poppers and Disco balls. I get the feeling from reading his words and hearing his thoughts... that he would have been a man that would have far more appreciated a public party on his passing then a public morning.
Condolences to his family and all those he counted as personal friends. For the rest of us that only knew him by his public works, and where touched by his wonderful photographic art, and poetry. Let us celebrate the life that was, go boldly Mr. Nimoy may your next life be as fruitful.
Now please stop with the trolling about party busting junk... and going on about respect, and understand people celebrating the life of a respected public figure is not an insult to anyone. Quite the opposite.
Agreed. Grief & mourning are private things, not appropriate for a computer game. Celebrating someone's life is a different matter.
Also - if you hate Subspace Party Amplifiers get yourself a Nullifier. If you choose not to get a Nullifier then it's your own fault. Stop whining about them, folks.
Free Tibet!
I was referred to the sticky Frequently Created Threads, which covers Cryptic's stance on the existence of amplifiers, but does not even mention the nullifiers, let alone elaborate on how to get them.
Hence why I created this thread. Thankfully, the one bit of information I had on them, not even a name but that they could be bought from some vendor on Drozana, was enough for me to find them. With a name for the item in hand I could provide links to the item and to the vendors who sell them.
In short, the existence of the nullifiers is insufficiently documented. Yes, they should be more readily attainable than the amplifier. I suggest making the nullifiers available through the replicator.
They're equally attainable for an equal price.
That's fair.
Free Tibet!
The option to opt-out shouldn't be as demanding as the method to cause involuntary actions in other players.
Rather than trying to spread the word about the nullifiers, just make them readily available to anyone by making them a replicated item that any player can produce at will.
I personally has nothing against those disco-balls, but what happened today on Vulcan is a total disrespect to people who want to join together and repectfully want to remember a person that has some meaning to them. It's a sad sad sad day today, to see that after ages of evolution and education, humanity hasn't yet found some dignity.
Your seriously asking for nullifiers to be free? it is only 100 GPL. That is half a Xmas item!

#1 club/hangout, more then a welcome site
#2 before stf starts, exchange = silly
#3 at a (what some are quite literally consider partaking in) a funeral, if someone stumbled in drunk blowing something off and acting like the village idiot at such a place for someone I knew, I guarantee ya, that guy would hit the floor faster then he could catch his breath.
That's WHY people feel that way about it right now
What's the EC equivalent of 100 GPL, based on the exchange rate available through Dabo? They could attach that as the EC cost for one.
Mr.Spock would say, getting angry at the disco ball crowd would be highly illogical.
Oh come on now... a funeral? Really? You lose all your credibility when you come out with stuff like that. A gathering of characters in a PC game is not and will never be a funeral.
Free Tibet!
no, I DO agree about %90, but some of the others do not.
Anything that stirs people up is probably not a good idea, enough said.
So your "cultural experiences" are that the Westboro Baptist Church has the right idea of how to do a funeral? Because that's really the best comparison. Other people are remembering a life. You and your mob of sh*theads are f*cking with them for laughs.

Even though I'm inclined to agree with you, I can't support trolling other players who aren't grieving in the same way you are, no matter how stuffy and uptight they seem to be.
This is quite unlike the WoW anecdote, which involved the public honoring of a player.
I never played CoH, so no.
Can we add to the list of MMOs where disco lives on?
Much like 12/21/12 just marked the end of any relevance of the Mayan empire (effectively their own form of apocalypse), it seems like MMOs may be the last memorial to disco, and once MMO's move past it, disco will no longer be officially dead, but outright extinct.
Please explain to me how the game is the same as real life? The only funeral that will have the most emotional toll with be the one that Leonard Nimoy will be in attendance. I would not be popping Disco balls at his real funeral, but a bunch of players on a map in a circle saying they haven't stopped crying, had to leave work early b/c they couldn't take the news and my personal favorite I saw, They are going to BURY their copy of WOK in their back yard so they can visit Mr. Spock when they feel down.

Is it? Because you seem to have the exact same level of respect for other people's cultural traditions as they do. You're not earning yourself any points here.

Just one. Is Cryptic even aware of those? Or is it the kind of document they only turn to to find something they can use as an excuse for banning an "exploiter?"
