nope, the ships are bland looking and more annoying than anything else.

BTW didn't anyone else notice that all of the ships have intel seating and not command seating

    Battlecruiser has Command seating

    Supremacy trait ?

Did you just gave up on any semblance of balance and went full powercreep/p2win on that box ?

Space trait anchored. Because I'm totally going to give up defense and 25% resistance for a meager damage bonus.

Gound trait sniper. Might be useful for IGE. Otherwise, not so much. It will be difficult to give something that could make the pulsewave/shotgun/melee not the op weapons they are.

If only they were forced by gambling law to post the actual chances per item in the box...

    ...sigh...

not that it would matter much

I would prefer if the items were also available with a flat fee zen price.
At least then I would consider spending my zen.

I know I won't be able to change anything with this post, but why on earth is the APU a tier 5 ship and the Vaadwaur tier 6? On Voyager, the Vaadwaur had been out of commission for centuries, and their technology wasn't quite on par with Voyager's, but the APU ships clearly outmatched them, a fact everyone acknowledged.

So you'd have us believe the Vaadwaur went from a band of some obsolete fighter craft and no home world to having cruisers that are more powerful than even the APU in the time frame that's passed? Really?!

The Vaadwaur technology was augmented by outside influences. One must assume that the APU ships have not, and since the development of the APU units is effectively stagnant it's reasonable to assume that cutting-edge Alliance ships can surpass them.

I think we're overlooking the point of the Anchored trait.

When you get stopped by one of those Vaadwaur Anchor Drones (want!), you're going to be dead in space anyway. Bye, bye Defense bonus. The trait will actually help in that admittedly theoretical circumstance.

EDIT: nevermind, I read that wrong. "Per Stack of Anchored, +5% All Damage Bonus and -5 All Damage Resistance Rating" I guess I don't see the point in it either.

Out of curiosity, don't remember if it was you or askray who posted his Voth ship in PvP forums for help a long time ago.

What's your opinion/thoughts/critiques on the Vaadwaur Escort?

    Wasn't me. I don't own a Voth ship.

Both of those Vaadwaur ships are going to be beasts, especially if you own both and max out the Starship Mastery on both.

Problem is, they're a bit too beasty... i believe they will ruin the already unfortunately precarious balance in pvp now. sad :(

Anyone creating Peter Quill: When you all are lvl 60 and you have your Vaadwaur greatcoats and Starlord masks, come to Nimbus III so that I can see if you created Groot, Drax, Gamora, and maybe even Rocket if you're that good. And maybe call Chris Pratt if you want to roleplay, but if Mr Pratt just joined the game and is creating Starlord as we speak...

Yup, just stack it with plasmonic leech, and BOOM! I wonder if the "small" boost is 1 and it stacks up to +20 power.

P2W trait if I ever saw one.

The rest of the lockbox stuff? Meh. At least they added more R&D doffs into the game, even if they are behind the paywall.

    I'm more interested in the "Lead Foot" trait: +25% turn rate and + 10% speed;

added with the +25% turn rate that I've already earned from completing the Pilot spec tree,

PLUS each of the 3 Fleet Enhanced RCS consoles on my Fleet Avenger at +42.5% (each) ,

PLUS the Tach Converter console +22.9%,

PLUS the "Deft Cannoneer" trait that gives a temp 1% boost every time you use a Cannon (Boff) skill,

PLUS the Hydrodynamics Compensator +23.1% turn rate,

PLUS my Adapted M.A.C.O. Combat Impulse Engines Mk XII (+6.5 Flight Turn Rate) ...

I wonder where the design idea for the Vaaudwar outfits came from....

Cause they certainly didn't mutate from a random Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi game at all.

you're right, they didn't; one of the cryptic devs already said they used WW1 german army uniforms for inspiration - or artillery, i don't recall
Like special weapons from other Star Trek games? Wondering if they can be replicated in STO even a little bit? Check this out: https://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1262277/a-mostly-comprehensive-guide-to-star-trek-videogame-special-weapons-and-their-sto-equivalents

Uh. . . . I think I said something different than you did?

(My interpretation of) What you said was "Cryptic took it's design for Vaadwaur Armor from Fallout Armor."

What I said was "Cryptic took inspiration for the Vaadwaur armor from WWI and WWII German armor. Fallout also took inspiration from the same place."

I sense that many people will be making Star-Lord toons.

For the curious, I made the concepts for the Vaadwaur uniforms before Guardians of the Galaxy came out and before I saw any trailers.

The uniforms were actually heavily influenced by what the Vaadwaur wore in the actual episode...which looked unapologetically influenced by WWII German officer uniforms. I also looked to Darth Vader, Marvel's Red Skull, and many G.I. Joe Cobra uniforms (obviously all also influenced by the same WWII sources).

I was even asked to write a blog about the making of the Vaadwaur characters many months back, but looks like it never went live - at least I couldn't find it searching here. It was pretty short but had quite a few pics and covered everything from making their heads to their weapons.

Glad to see a lot of people digging the uniforms. The Vaadwaur were definitely fun for me to design and make.

    Yeah. I love the work.

The biggest complaints for me? We didn't get their cool cargo pants.

I feel a bit like an evil warlord in the uniform.

Actually... One thing I have suggested if you had fun making these...

DS9 is next in rotation for revamp. I would like to see the Mirror Universe forces get a bit more distinctive look. On the shows, their uniforms (for officers) tended to have very different cuts. I think Mirror Universe MACO uniforms would be a hoot as well, since you could go overboard on the Stormtrooper/Crimson Guard/Hydra vibe there. I imagine mirror MACO would basically be costumed henchmen. I can see quite a few looks that would lend themselves well for Lobi.

For the standard uniforms, I'd probably look at inverting the badge/pip placement, retuning the Odyssey look to be more sinister. You could get by with helmets, Roman style capes, bare midriffs, ceremonial swords (or even nanopulse swords?).

Vaadwaur (like Cardassians and some others) have a bit of a WWII Axis powers in space vibe. But the Terrans strike me as taking that over the edge into Space Pirate TRIBBLE Centurion territory. There's a lot of this you could take FURTHER into screwball quasi-evil mastermind territory there.

I'm still gunning for you guys to get Wil Wheaton to replace Mirror Smiley Jr. with Mirror Wesley, who I figure would be all Hamlet-gone-Bond-villain.

Following Mirror logic, Mirror Picard probably killed Jack and hooked up with Beverly (which various Mirror takes have played with). Making Wesley Hamlet. Meanwhile, Mirror Wesley would have all the natural capability and talent that his regular counterpart had (and which made him a target of scorn among fans) but I picture him taking that genius and that loathing for his step-father and becoming Wesley as Cobra Commander/Doctor Mindbender/Rasputin. This sort of bearded svengali at the side of the throne who conducts illicit experiments and tortures them or something.

Heck, "Doctor Crusher" sounds like a Bond villain in the right context. Get Mirror Wesley a cat and have him go by Doctor Crusher/Professor Crusher and be the mad genius who rules over a starbase full of lumbering genetic augments and cybernetic experiments.
