he really has nothing better to do then come to out containment board and weave wild tales, bluster incoherently, generalize and most of all PROJECT.

what a vivid, ego centric recounting of that pvp experience you had! careful, pretty sure you got hooked by that pvp ego rush. don't feel the need to brag too much, it might make you look insecure! but most of all, try not to throw insults and criticisms on flaws that are so on the nose for your own personal self, that kind of irony REALLY guts your arguments.

well... just let him. it's the internet. be smarter ;). those last posts before has shown the real core of the pew-community and said it better than i ever could (grouphugs :D:))...

now plz, to align with and to support scora (yep really!):

let's talk about... ionic? disable? and maybe what we'll all drink together after the next matches :).

edit: i know how hard it is not to get totally embittered by all cryptic did to pvp, even more in sight of all the broken promises. though we all are still here and most of us passionally love the trek-skinned pew. so... lets be smart and unite for the cause,
as much we all may disagree with each other in this or that. doesn't matter, because we all still want it to stay and evolve in a "good"(whatever that is) way.

btw: my sig and avatar (tour-symbol of nofxs' mons-tour) are resuslts of my own personal embitterment after all they done to us. and i want them to see what they done, so i choose it to be the way it is now. though, after 3 years, i'm still here. no matter how hard it is to stay from time to time. but that's just a lil sidenote.

Oh this guy, ha ha, this guy......YES! This is ONE OF THESE PVPERS OF WHICH I SPEAK! Encountered him one day, about a month after scimitar released. He was on ESD trying to troll challenge people to 1 on 1's in his bugship like a real pvp hero. I fought him in my scimitar, and though i only killed him once, he couldnt kill me and i kept reducing him to like 10% hull, eventually he nerdraged and left saying he couldn't play against people that cheat using things like CLOAKING. Lol what? Yeah....

However he was happy enough to vapourise all comers mere moments before in his OP ship with no thought. Soon as the boot was on the other foot, he cried foul play like a little girl. Then i find he is a regular player in the illustrious PVP community. Shock horror. Seen him posting on threads a few times whining. Can't actually believe he as the brass balls to pipe up to be honest.

See this is one of those experiences of which i referred to that i have come across over the years, that just shows me what insecure people actually play pvp. Im glad this douche actually commented as its just provided the perfect proof as i am sure some of you know him and know what i speak is most likely true.

As for the shimmerminge or whatever your name is, just keep going kid. You went from stupid words like carebears and hugbox, to challenges to fights like the schoolyard at lunchtime.

Ha ha, what a PVP HERO! You aren't kidding. I don't play pvp, i told you, because i don't like playing ego centric nobheads. If the cap fits wear it. PVP HERO.

And people really cant read this thread and see my point?

I've almost spilled my drink over my keyboard and had to chuckle when I read ur reply seems like I have hit a nerve with my response to you :D

Listen closely my whining mountain troll companion:
I have never fought you in a duel, the scimitar has been released in july 2013, I got my first JHAS in september that year and went on holiday a couple of days after i got it without dueling anybody. Effectively I did 1v1 challenges in october with it, first off. Before running the bugship i used to run romulan warbirds such as the dhelan or the hafeh for that reason I've absolutely had no motive to complain about somebody using his integrated cloak during combat. That said, It was technically impossible that we've ever faced each other in an encounter in your described constellation. You must have battled another guy whose name was "Hannibal". Do you actually believe I would be the only one out there ? I have known at least 2 other pvp players with the same char name that pvped a while back, one of them was running a JHAS too. So I can conclude: You can claim alot of fabulous things if you are unable to back up your statements. Screenie or it didnt happen.

As far as I remember I have never lost to any scimitar with the romulan bug in that game, so you can bring it on. My fed bug is warmed up for you.

I am always up for a challenge you can contact me ingame any time you want, then you can have your desired match

so, whatever comes next... smile, chuckle and just leave it. it's not worth it ;).

i'll take this as an advice to myself (noted lol) and hopefully won't comment anymore on if u guys, both sides, still don't get it

I was just about done with this thread but it's funny just how quickly you picked up on the exact same thing I was thinking, muffin. He claims he hates overt bragging (which itself is generally frowned upon in our small community) and yet in his own words he apparently has quite the illustrious PvP history, I suppose he only shared in response to some past grievance or such. His potty mouth and insult-flinging, well, he's just reacting to all of us in kind, you see.

Makes a lot of sense. Perhaps he's like the inquisitor who's only so familiar with the dark arts that he may more efficiently purge them.

It's a shame he won't at least take me up on the PvE offer though. I suppose I musn't meet his lofty standards or some such. That's the thing with us PvPers, we naturally love a challenge, and I think it'd be great to take a crack against a player to whom target calling and duelling are easy peasy no matter what the venue, I'm sure I'd have a lot to learn. Bit disappointed but ah well, boards PvP will have to do.

Cool story. Yeah of course, can't believe i didn't see it before. Of course it must have been another guy called Hannibal, in a bugship called USS Hannibal, who whined whenever something didn't go his way. Wow, what are the odds there are two of you?

Yes there are. At least I am aware of one more pvp-player whose tac is named "Hannibal" which ran a JHAS. He is a member of Hussar Guardian Forces. Furthermore "Hannibal" is a more common and popular term for people that want to designate a name for their characters in MMO-games. Anyway it doesnt really matter now.
The best way to avoid further misconceptions is to pick out medias such as recorded videos or screenshots of matches from specific timeframes and I have finally found a YT-video in which i particpated in a pvp-match around your stated period of time with the bugship in order to prove the opposite to you:

Would you like to check out and clarify if I was the guy that fought you in the screenshot above?

as for me, i use it on almost every intel build for the res-debuff, but really would smile if they'd remove or nerf the disable part on it.

so.... what u guys think about?

suggestions so far (feel free to point me on certain ones i overread):

    - completely remove the disable part

    - change ionic so it not chases one down but travels to where one is while activated

Both suggestions sound good, but the first would probably be best for adjusting without affecting PvE applications.

Or maybe, if we took it slow, something like disabling only one career type of ability, or only one boff?

Or oh, I had an idea. What if it disabled only console clickies, cloak, set bonuses and captain powers, while leaving boff abilities available? Could make things interesting as the Cheese Shutdown Ability.

TBH, I'm not sure why they added so many disables when the AI is so barely affected by them.

the problems with a troublesome disable were solved a year ago, wile rocking around, remove the station power dissable and just disables weapons fireing, and buff slightly the hull debuff to make the pve'ers happy, wile they cluelessly cry nerf.

Sorry, no 'nerf'. I'm sticking with simply removing the tracking function. Let it simply fly out to the location at release and go boom, like EMP, like the 'grenade' console, etc. As it is a player can simply spam it from any range, no effort. If the travel time MEANT something, as in, gave a target time to evade then great. As it is the travel time just jukes someone into using up evades and immunity. True Troll right there.

    Peace.

as for me, i still see a prob with multiple disables in the current state of the ability, without the chasing-part and when fired by several ships from short distance. may another solution would be to shorten it down to, let's say 3-5 secs max. ngh for a vaper to get the shot.
also a combo of several parts of the suggestions may would make it.

or a random system off for 5-10 secs instead of greyed out powerbar/or viral matrix way (all subs randomly down within a certain time, never more than one)... not has to be exactly the the "black poo" console way...

or how about a immunity for 15-30 secs after hit by the first?

The thing is, Ionic isn't even supposed to disable. It's supposed to 'disable movement', which should be a movement debuff. Instead it's a disable because whoever coded it either made a mistake or wasn't paying attention. It's not supposed to lock you out of everything at all.

    [...]

so it may just is bugged as hell ?! should we better go on with the discussion over there?

Hi guyz! Me again. Here's a quote from a guy that sorta knows how it was SUPPOSED to work.

    Ionic Turbulence
    - Flies toward target Foe's current location (they can get away before it detonates)
    - The "Out Of Control" effect is an unresistable Hold/Repel. It cannot be cleansed or removed while in effect, and resistances will not reduce its duration. The true counter to this, is to navigate out of the hazard cloud.

So anyway. I think that if they removed the bit where it follows you around till it detonates it would be 'working as intended'. Sort of like the spatial charge launcher does.

I TOTALLY get that the tool tip is a bit weak. It does say that it causes the effect at the target's 'current location' and there is no mention of the travel time.

The totally awesome Hank helped me test out that the effect is unavoidable, it will track you down and explode on you, no matter what you do.

EDIT: 'That guy' would be a Developer. And no you can't see the original post. So not sure what changed, but there it is.

thx mate, very appreciated :)! so ur suggestion would actually be a fix as i read it. but that line "unresistable hold/repel" doesn't mean it should do a full disable/lockout of being able to use any ability, right? at least in that words it seems to me so.
how about the subspace integration circuit console (aka "black poo"), did that chased one down as well in its first version? at least it would strengthen the impression we're facing a bad done copy/paste job of its early version i guess.

Honestly not sure on that bit. I 'think' that's what puts the 'out' into 'out of control'.

Not to be flippant, it is very brief. The OTHER effects on your ship are truly dire. But again if a person was able to move away before it detonated a lot of the bad just wouldn't happen.

And also, if a player tractors you, uses a grav well, or does some other combo to get you stuck in this poo, that sort of ranks it up there with warp plasma as a tool that takes effort and practice to use.

As it is currently spammable vundersauce it sort of breaks the game design.

hmm... that "out of control" may also could point on the interchanging hold and repel, the shaking-part i guess. the other ways u mentioned at least give a chance for using counters, while ionic does not give em in such a manner (only for breaks of seconds inbetween, hardly usable).

...however, i have a feeling we're getting closer to the core of the new-poo :D;)... hell, if i just wasn't so tired. not got more than 3 hours of sleep and a full workshift afterwards. i don't think i could manage a single vape in my current state lulz :(.

Yeah, I did some testing in kerrat earlier, and whenever I get hit with the 'out of control' effect that does the 'rocking the boat' animation, my tray/weapons/whatever is disabled for that duration. So I'm guessing that this is a second bug (the first one being that its supposed to target location, not 'follow you forever').

    Hopefully it'll get fixed soon.
