There's a bunch of "most people..." talk going on all over the place, PvP and PvE - when folks can't really speak for anybody else without linking where somebody else said what they said, yadda-yadda-yadda.
Would be a simpler world (forum world, that is) if folks were just to speak for themselves outside of linking what somebody else has actually said sort of thing...
Or at least muddle it up with more vague words referencing the quantities of folks involved so that it could be taken multiple ways, eh?

There are worse combo-s in PVP that ionic turbulence
1.) Neutronic torpedo with TS3+viral always kills my faeht
After last nerf to failsafe scrambler my faeht is more at respawn than fighting ,before with failsafe scrambler i died mostly 2-3 times on a match.
Now my ship become a liability, even if I bought meantime, some MKIV armor consoles ,sci consoles etc
2.)There is OSS3 that melts everything in his way if it is used by fed cruiser's (having the other fed ship mastership's )
3.)There are 2 FED only ship mastery traits (the one that gives defense and the tactical reduction ) that together make that almost 90% of each PVP team is fed or fed romulan.
I havent seen a single Matha or Qib in PVP for some time
As a kdf romulan I have only 2 traits available to my char (dont start with other traits rewarded by specialization tree -because with last nerfs that are far far away) so I in this moment I cant find any way to make my char more effective in PVP

Look guys pvp here is pretty much finished, find a new game for pvp ED EVE tanks mwo whatever sto is done for pvp, if youre happy to fly around in your trek ship and mess about do that get your trek kicks sure but pvp is defeated they have no interest to repair it or even try someone hit the nail on the head earlier "profits rising" thats the aim here at all costs now so dont expect improvement- id love to be proved wrong but i really cant see it changing now

i wanted to start a discussion on ionic only, not on the usual pvp/pve/hen/egg whatever complexes. we all have our opinions on that one (while i personally rate some much nearer to the truth than others).
i tank surgical strikes on certain ships, i not got vaped a single time by neutronic-torps yet and so on. no one xcpets a faeht to stand certain attacks nowadays. just yesterday i fought a qib in c&h on my transphasics-faeht and we both had a blast (i only brought ionic after being hit by it that match). that guy tried to get me with surgical on and on, still he failed... i managed to kill him with 1% health left, after about 10mins of him or me . next match we couldn't get a final scratch on each other while i flew a cruiser and i got hit by ionics, sometimes 3 times in a row (while not bringing it myself)... and yep, it "killed" when hit by the third and someone was there lulz.
long story short: lots of bs one could make a thread about its impacts on pvp. i'd like to see those threads, due to i think myself there's a whole lotta more bs goin on (i don't even talk about 60+ outdated ships it can't reclaim if deleted once, all the unique ones included).
but the disable-part on ionic is kinda different imo! it reminds me on gamebreaking bugs like the jem shield, first release of "the poo" and so on...
so i don't want to become this thread into one of the usual forum-victims. i'd like to see a discussion about ionic in pvp!
the direction of opinions from most people who know what they're talking about seems the very same to me (while they got a span in itselves of course), so now imo it is about to raise their attention (as much as they don't care or not) and get them to sort it out.
i don't wanna leave, i want to spend money, but cryptic really makes it hard to me to judge any cent to myself.

that subspace console out of the elachi lock box that used to disable skills just like this got adjusted so it just disabled weapons, but that was a bit redundant because you couldn't see anyone anyway, but also increased its explosion damage so it was actually buffed for pve. did the devs forget this compromise that worked for everyone on the subjects of disables? or do they just not care anymore?
on top of that, they introduce a new placating trait that only other players in pvp can properly experience, a blinding white screen of death that cant be described any other way then offensive, and thats not even includeing how it can effect game play every time it goes off. it basically prevented your death when your dead to rights, and gives you the perfect opportunity to counterattack helpless blind targets with your near maxed out GDF. its offensive at every level, and the fixed visual is only a slight improvement. there are also those delta rep pol weapons with the most powerful and frequent on hit placate the game has ever had, good thing no one cares enough anymore to bother building themselves a new weapon set. it should not be lost on anyone that placates do next to nothing in pve, thats why they basically went away before, again did the devs forget this compromise that worked for everyone? or do they just not care anymore?
and the neutronic can 1 shot you, 3 part torp console set has a clicky that deals a ton of kinetic damage right through shields, 2 intel ships have awesome no drama lances of doom, all the rest of the intel skills, the gigantic, costly, impossible grind to get back to the same level of competitiveness you were at pre DR, etc. DR couldn't feel like a more forced pvpers plz go, if they tried.

This is where this whole pvp/STO thing becomes so sad... because PVP in STO can be so much fun.... Play against people with the same experience and about the same gear, on somewhat equal footing.. PVP is more fun than anything else to be had in this game.. imo atleast.
Ok, so i get that 90% or much more likely more than that, only play PVE content, for many people thats a challenge in itself.... But I'm still baffled that cryptic wont give pvp even a little love just to keep the small playerbase that actually does PVP an incentive to want to play more..
Also the reason why communitybased programs as PVP bootcamp etc have not worked into getting people to pvp more, is because the game just doesnt have the mechanics to help people get started with pvp. You are basicly being tossed into a pool of hungry sharks as soon as you enter some pvp scenario in STO.. i mean, who would want to pvp when the first thing you experience is getting blown up within seconds, and having that same person being an ******* about it. The whole reason i got hooked with PVP was because in my first fleet we had a few people that used to PVP alot, and they basicly always helped "newbies" to get ready for pvp. I PVP'ed for months against only fleetmates before i even tried to queue up for arena, or enter ker'rat. I was lucky enough to be a part of a fleet that introduced me to PVP and basicly eased me into it. Ofcourse i got roflstomped the first times in arena and in ker'rat, but because of my experience within my fleet with pvp, i kinda sorta understood what was happening, and then i started experimenting.
If PVP is to survive in STO, we really need a mechanic in game on how to ease people into PVP.
Before Delta Rising we had ofcourse the share of overpowered abilitites and some stuff where quite unbalanced.. but with the diversity in this game, most people could manage it given time.. the problem now are skills in the game that cannot be countered without completely devoting your build of doing so... Thinking how hard it was to learn pvp before DR, how would you thnk that someone that is new to pvp would react or think about it now with DR? The first thing that happends to them when they enter a pvp scenario is that their shortcut bars are all greyed out and they can't do anything.. people would think to themselves.. oh f*** this s***... pvp is so broken. etc etc etc..
Thats why this whole thing is so sad... when you think about how much fun PVP can be when you fight against someone of equal skill... its imo the most fun i have had in PVP in any game..
Ionic turbulence, viral torpedo and surgical strikes needs to be looked at. It ruins the fun for everyone, even for the ones that are using the mentioned skills... because whats fun now, wont be that much fun when there will be noone left to use them on...

Yeah.. I came to the same realization. Gotta hand it to Cryptic: They cured me of this addiction to STO by making everything in the game devoid of fun. Well not entirely cured... I still lurk on the forums, only god knows why.
Either Cryptics ppl are incompetent or they deliberatly want to kill STO. Or both. I dunno. The saddest thing about this is: When STO finally goes down, chances are that there won't be a new Star Trek MMO. CBS will probably think Star Trek MMO's are a failure.

But hey, let's be positive, how about a challenge muffin? You find STO's most super leet PvE mish, whichever you want, and we'll race to speedclear it. I have expected the new powers/abilities of DR gonna break this game, and many of us that have played this game for years should know it would break this game because Cryptic ''NEVER'' gets anything right as long they have ignorant and lazy lead Dev's that does not commnicate with it's community... PvP or PvE otherwise, just look at the Dev Blog alone should tell u alone which is basically 0 post from any Dev's, and i will not bring Community Managers such as Captain Smirk or BranFlakes in this mix because they're not real Dev's, they don't have real inputs what goes into the game's direction like Captain Geko.
I have already stop playing PvP in STO, and many good PvP'ers and friends like Gorn of the Dead have already left. also i thinking of leaving this game as well as long Geko keeps acting stupid with all the stuff he puts in to annoy players... this game was once called the most generous F2P on the MMO market, now this game is just a grinder's game, i was fine just grinding for Rep Marks but now i have to grind for XP for specialized points at the same time aswell just to compete against other players... nah i think i pass, some players called this game Pay 2 Win now which i find incorrect, this game now is nothing more Casino with its Gamble 2 Win mechanics.
I will still play this game for now and even upgrade my ship just incase there's any new upgrades for PvP... which will be never as long Geko is around.
Thank you Captain Geko for destroying the good feeling this game once had... maybe u should learn to keep ur gamble addiction only to Las Vegas and not put it in a video game especially in a MMO... and i hope one day u give PvP a chance like adding new fresh content like adding new maps, battlegrounds, leaderboards, reps. etc. even add good rewards and try to balance some of the overkill abilities thats out now... but in the end all i just said now will be ignored.

Oh this guy, ha ha, this guy......YES! This is ONE OF THESE PVPERS OF WHICH I SPEAK! Encountered him one day, about a month after scimitar released. He was on ESD trying to troll challenge people to 1 on 1's in his bugship like a real pvp hero. I fought him in my scimitar, and though i only killed him once, he couldnt kill me and i kept reducing him to like 10% hull, eventually he nerdraged and left saying he couldn't play against people that cheat using things like CLOAKING. Lol what? Yeah....
However he was happy enough to vapourise all comers mere moments before in his OP ship with no thought. Soon as the boot was on the other foot, he cried foul play like a little girl. Then i find he is a regular player in the illustrious PVP community. Shock horror. Seen him posting on threads a few times whining. Can't actually believe he as the brass balls to pipe up to be honest.

While I can see your point, that some like to gloat and talk trash, and take it too far, and get upset when someone puts them in their place...
But that is honestly not the average pvp you'll meet. That is a small minority.
So stop with the sweeping generalizations please.
In my experience (which has seen quite a lot of pvp - if ships kept scar's, my Vesta would be plasma burned and scorched, dented, dinged and sputtering) most ppl I meet in Ker'rat or the queues are super cool and knowledgeable people. They know STO inside and out, and many have helped me along with great enthusiam.
I really like the regulars who pvp. They're a great group.
Your few bad experiences do not encompass the whole of the pvp community.
And I think you've been holding a grudge towards pvp'ers for a longtime from the sound of it...

Fact. Been PvPing on and off in STO since Feb 2010. Best PvP community I've ever encountered in any game. Period. 80% of the people I have talked to were generally fun to fly against and often helpful individuals.

on top of that, they introduce a new placating trait that only other players in pvp can properly experience, a blinding white screen of death that cant be described any other way then offensive, and thats not even includeing how it can effect game play every time it goes off. it basically prevented your death when your dead to rights, and gives you the perfect opportunity to counterattack helpless blind targets with your near maxed out GDF. its offensive at every level, and the fixed visual is only a slight improvement. there are also those delta rep pol weapons with the most powerful and frequent on hit placate the game has ever had, good thing no one cares enough anymore to bother building themselves a new weapon set. it should not be lost on anyone that placates do next to nothing in pve, thats why they basically went away before, again did the devs forget this compromise that worked for everyone? or do they just not care anymore?
and the neutronic can 1 shot you, 3 part torp console set has a clicky that deals a ton of kinetic damage right through shields, 2 intel ships have awesome no drama lances of doom, all the rest of the intel skills, the gigantic, costly, impossible grind to get back to the same level of competitiveness you were at pre DR, etc. DR couldn't feel like a more forced pvpers plz go, if they tried.
Ok, so i get that 90% or much more likely more than that, only play PVE content, for many people thats a challenge in itself.... But I'm still baffled that cryptic wont give pvp even a little love just to keep the small playerbase that actually does PVP an incentive to want to play more..
Also the reason why communitybased programs as PVP bootcamp etc have not worked into getting people to pvp more, is because the game just doesnt have the mechanics to help people get started with pvp. You are basicly being tossed into a pool of hungry sharks as soon as you enter some pvp scenario in STO.. i mean, who would want to pvp when the first thing you experience is getting blown up within seconds, and having that same person being an ******* about it. The whole reason i got hooked with PVP was because in my first fleet we had a few people that used to PVP alot, and they basicly always helped "newbies" to get ready for pvp. I PVP'ed for months against only fleetmates before i even tried to queue up for arena, or enter ker'rat. I was lucky enough to be a part of a fleet that introduced me to PVP and basicly eased me into it. Ofcourse i got roflstomped the first times in arena and in ker'rat, but because of my experience within my fleet with pvp, i kinda sorta understood what was happening, and then i started experimenting.
If PVP is to survive in STO, we really need a mechanic in game on how to ease people into PVP.
Before Delta Rising we had ofcourse the share of overpowered abilitites and some stuff where quite unbalanced.. but with the diversity in this game, most people could manage it given time.. the problem now are skills in the game that cannot be countered without completely devoting your build of doing so... Thinking how hard it was to learn pvp before DR, how would you thnk that someone that is new to pvp would react or think about it now with DR? The first thing that happends to them when they enter a pvp scenario is that their shortcut bars are all greyed out and they can't do anything.. people would think to themselves.. oh f*** this s***... pvp is so broken. etc etc etc..
Thats why this whole thing is so sad... when you think about how much fun PVP can be when you fight against someone of equal skill... its imo the most fun i have had in PVP in any game..
Ionic turbulence, viral torpedo and surgical strikes needs to be looked at. It ruins the fun for everyone, even for the ones that are using the mentioned skills... because whats fun now, wont be that much fun when there will be noone left to use them on...

Yeah.. I came to the same realization. Gotta hand it to Cryptic: They cured me of this addiction to STO by making everything in the game devoid of fun. Well not entirely cured... I still lurk on the forums, only god knows why.
Either Cryptics ppl are incompetent or they deliberatly want to kill STO. Or both. I dunno. The saddest thing about this is: When STO finally goes down, chances are that there won't be a new Star Trek MMO. CBS will probably think Star Trek MMO's are a failure.
Anyway, enough with this doom because ...

Evasive + Reckless Abandon (from pilot tree) to escape the cloud, then Haz Emitters to clear the debuff. Simple.

Yes Virus, i have brought out a bunch of opinions, but its opinion based on 2 years of playing STO and getting a feel of what people think about pvp. Randoms, guildies, friends. Im not defending Cryptic Antonio, im just saying its not all their fault.

I seem to have hit a nerve which shows some of you know im right. As for failing at pvp, tell yourself whatever makes you happy. Lol. i never really tried. I just met lots of dickheads at infrequent times whenever i did any pvp so wrote it off. Many other people no doubt had similar experiences.
PVP in just about any other MMO takes more skill, but carry on believing you are awesome. A lot of you seem good at that. I mean this shimmerless scrub? Is he serious with that signature? Haaaa ha ha. Whatever. These kids.

I would just second everything Drunk's already said, your attempts at slinging abuse about are small fries compared to some of the threads that accidentally get moved here. I saw comments about STO's PvP from someone who started an innocuous thread on Reddit that had me rolling on my sides. If you want to look at treating others respectfully you folks sure have a lot to tend to in your own homes.
But hey, let's be positive, how about a challenge muffin? You find STO's most super leet PvE mish, whichever you want, and we'll race to speedclear it. Afterwards, a friendly 5 v. 5 arena, no holds barred, bring whatever you like. Or a simple duel if you'd prefer? Should be a doddle for such an awe-inspiring PvP/PvE wizard like yourself, right?

I have expected the new powers/abilities of DR gonna break this game, and many of us that have played this game for years should know it would break this game because Cryptic ''NEVER'' gets anything right as long they have ignorant and lazy lead Dev's that does not commnicate with it's community... PvP or PvE otherwise, just look at the Dev Blog alone should tell u alone which is basically 0 post from any Dev's, and i will not bring Community Managers such as Captain Smirk or BranFlakes in this mix because they're not real Dev's, they don't have real inputs what goes into the game's direction like Captain Geko.
I have already stop playing PvP in STO, and many good PvP'ers and friends like Gorn of the Dead have already left. also i thinking of leaving this game as well as long Geko keeps acting stupid with all the stuff he puts in to annoy players... this game was once called the most generous F2P on the MMO market, now this game is just a grinder's game, i was fine just grinding for Rep Marks but now i have to grind for XP for specialized points at the same time aswell just to compete against other players... nah i think i pass, some players called this game Pay 2 Win now which i find incorrect, this game now is nothing more Casino with its Gamble 2 Win mechanics.
I will still play this game for now and even upgrade my ship just incase there's any new upgrades for PvP... which will be never as long Geko is around.
Thank you Captain Geko for destroying the good feeling this game once had... maybe u should learn to keep ur gamble addiction only to Las Vegas and not put it in a video game especially in a MMO... and i hope one day u give PvP a chance like adding new fresh content like adding new maps, battlegrounds, leaderboards, reps. etc. even add good rewards and try to balance some of the overkill abilities thats out now... but in the end all i just said now will be ignored.
If this game had the right Dev that knows what He/She is doing, this game could be one of the better MMO's out there, someone that can do a healthy balance of both PvE and PvP, no bias towards a single faction, and someone that does not blame their player base why things failed but rather blamed themselfs for not listening what thier base wants.

Oh this guy, ha ha, this guy......YES! This is ONE OF THESE PVPERS OF WHICH I SPEAK! Encountered him one day, about a month after scimitar released. He was on ESD trying to troll challenge people to 1 on 1's in his bugship like a real pvp hero. I fought him in my scimitar, and though i only killed him once, he couldnt kill me and i kept reducing him to like 10% hull, eventually he nerdraged and left saying he couldn't play against people that cheat using things like CLOAKING. Lol what? Yeah....
However he was happy enough to vapourise all comers mere moments before in his OP ship with no thought. Soon as the boot was on the other foot, he cried foul play like a little girl. Then i find he is a regular player in the illustrious PVP community. Shock horror. Seen him posting on threads a few times whining. Can't actually believe he as the brass balls to pipe up to be honest.
See this is one of those experiences of which i referred to that i have come across over the years, that just shows me what insecure people actually play pvp. Im glad this douche actually commented as its just provided the perfect proof as i am sure some of you know him and know what i speak is most likely true.

In my experience (which has seen quite a lot of pvp - if ships kept scar's, my Vesta would be plasma burned and scorched, dented, dinged and sputtering) most ppl I meet in Ker'rat or the queues are super cool and knowledgeable people. They know STO inside and out, and many have helped me along with great enthusiam.
I really like the regulars who pvp. They're a great group.
Your few bad experiences do not encompass the whole of the pvp community.
And I think you've been holding a grudge towards pvp'ers for a longtime from the sound of it...

Fact. Been PvPing on and off in STO since Feb 2010. Best PvP community I've ever encountered in any game. Period. 80% of the people I have talked to were generally fun to fly against and often helpful individuals.
Fact. People tend to reap what they sow....
Conclusion. Think about it.
Moreover, it's PvP, sumbuddy has to die.... and trashtalk for many is just part of the fun. Butthurt posting in PvP forums is missing the point entirely. Think abouddit as well, and in any event help yourself and stop nerd raging in this thread.
