Why are people acting shocked that they is a zen cost to upgrade ships i new in my heart they would be as soon as they said u could upgrade ur older ships. Sto runs on selling ships if they dont sell then they cant buy food for the server tribbles.
Only downside I see to the tier 5 upgrade is theirs a lot of people with the level progression ships who havnt bought the Cstore upgrades or prefer the progression ships seating over the Cstore version that wont be able to upgrade
An example here the Assault Cruiser for the Federation cant be upgraded but the Cstore Refit version can. Though personally I prefer the seating on the normal ship.
So in fairness all T5 ships should be able to be upgraded to T5-U and not just the Cstore/Fleet ones.
I do agree that for bundle ships there should be a one time upgrade fee for all ships in that bundle.

Sorry if this has already been asked and answered, but are all the T6 ships going to be C-Store only or will we get one free T6 ship like we did when the T5s came out?

I suspect there will be a free one for a few months.

It has neither been asked nor answered.
That info probably won't come out until they start showing off the ships outside of fleeting glimpses in trailers.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
What is to stop Cryptic from eventually making T6 ships obsolete? If Cryptic is will to make the T5, 5.5, and Fleet ships obsolete, I would not put it pass them to eventually make the T6 ships obsolete.
I now see "Star Trek: Online" as a very risky investment.
We could be having this same conversation within a few months or years.
Why bother?
BINGO! And we probably will, beacose soon after (or maybe at the same time) they are going to relese a new lockbox witha 6.5 tier ship that is going to make all T6 ships obsolete. And a month later that Tier 6.5 ships is going to be obsolete with a new lockbox ship..
So, like you ask, why bother?
I am going to stay with my T5 Vesta and T5 Sove, and I am going to do PVP with them.. lol
What a load of ... you serious telling us a T4 ship with a higher shield modifier and higher would be better that a T5 ship? ARE YOU?
An 11th console slot rather than a 13th bridge officer ability is comparable. Klingon Raiders make this trade and have since Season 6 with the release of the fleet system. In some ways a console slot is more useful than an extra bridge officer ability, but it depends on your build.
I think as PvPers we all just need to be honest with ourselves.
Who cares about T5 upgrades.
All I care about are lockbox upgrades cause seriously who PvPs with anything less.
Sure now and then I'll fly something else and pve in it.... and for that I could care less about upgrades ect ect.
All I want to know and all I give a rats behind about... is what new lockbox we are getting... and if the NEW lockbox ships are going to be full on T6.
If they are then I'm fine... cause frankly we all seriously move to the latest greatest lockbox ships anyway.
So all I really want to know is when T6 hits in October... is the First Delta Lockbox and everyone after going to have T6+ lockboxe ships in them.
The xindi escort had a great ride for a few months... but I won't bother upgrading it if there is some T6+ lockbox scort to grab instead.... the Pallisade and Wells sure great bored of them anyway Give me a T6+ Sci lockbox... Healer ya the tholian carrier is cute, whats next.
Serious PvPers don't fly defiants or BOPS or Fleet Sabers or Deep Space Science ships... they fly lockbox ships. They also upgrade everytime a new lockbox drops as needed. So like all the boxes before the new ones are likely going to have must haves. Nothing new here. Nothing to see... move along.
To me... it's not entirely true. In most part yes though.
However, serious PvPers don't have to move to lockbox ships otherwise they suck. Tempest, Avenger, Mogh, Scimitar, Multi-Mission Explorers: they all make great ships.
I only have the Mobius with TIF on a tac that falls in the category of freely upgradable. Seriously, what does a Nicor have more, compared to a Tempest? To be honest, nothing. Actually it's the opposite.
Try to tell mini that serious PvPers don't fly BoPs though :P
Seriously people, road to October is long. I did some maths as well, in worst case I can make 10k before DR launches with 5 toons. More than enough to upgrade my ships and buy one or two of those T6s
And that's just with my normal gameplay, not shriving for it.
Why are people acting shocked that they is a zen cost to upgrade ships i new in my heart they would be as soon as they said u could upgrade ur older ships. Sto runs on selling ships if they dont sell then they cant buy food for the server tribbles.
So it's okay for them to rip us off so they could put food on their tables and keep STO running?
You realize what just happened? We now went from buying 2000-2500 Zen ships to 3500-4000 Zen PER SHIP! Ships that are INFERIOR to Tier 6 Ships! Which some expect to be sold for $30.
So if you are a Trek fan who loves a certain canonical Tier 5 ship, forget it!
The current "standard" for ships is 10 consoles, so to the player base "an additional console slot" means that T6 will have 11. If this isn't true that that blog needs to be changed immediately to make it perfectly clear that T6 ships only have 10 consoles.
Oh, rats, I've been making the same assumption....and we're both wrong.
The standard, as in actual meaning of the word, is nine consoles.
Ten console ships are better than standard.
I've got so used to them, I'd lost sight of that.
so, T6 ships will be ten consoles as standard, a T5U ship that began with ten consoles becomes eleven consoles?

We aren't shocked that they are making profit from new ships, but having already payed for a ship and even upgraded it once for a fleet version (which they've totally messed up unless if they're going to post a dev post about it later explaining changes to it), I have to bring out my wallet for something like this. Let me give you an example... Cruiser Communication abilities, when they rolled that out, it was a free addition to the cruisers, no 5 dollar upgrade for any ship. It's a small thing, but you get the picture. Same with Science Vessels, that I hope at some point will eventually get the skimped secondary deflectors.
An 11th console slot rather than a 13th bridge officer ability is comparable. Klingon Raiders make this trade and have since Season 6 with the release of the fleet system. In some ways a console slot is more useful than an extra bridge officer ability, but it depends on your build.
For instance an additional Ensign bridge officer universal power can be comparable to a Universal console with a clickable power.
If I have the choice between another console slot, or bridge officer ability (provided it's an Ensign slot), I'll go with the console.
Of course, if the additional bridge officer seat is Lt. or higher, or not Universal... well, then the scale tips in favor of the bridge officer seating.
That info probably won't come out until they start showing off the ships outside of fleeting glimpses in trailers.
I've asked twice actually, although you're correct that it hasn't been answered. Personally I'm expecting that there won't be a free level up ship, since they can't charge us for it.
For me, T5-U has too small a subset of features for me to seriously consider any but the lowest end of cost suggestions as good value, especially if you're considering selling packs analogous to the Legacy Pack.
If you gave the T5-U the extra BOFF ability (I assume you're meaning T6 have 13 BOFF abilities), it'd be a far more reasonable value proposition and make me far more likely to open my wallet. Which I'm sure is your goal here.
Huh, I guess it's too early to tell us, but I'll ask anyway - are there plans for some kind of "Fleet T6 ships"? Cause I doubt you'll keep that "13th boff power vs 11 consoles" balance for long.

Depends on where the extra console and boff slot fall. An extra tac or eng console is more useful to me than an extra ensign boff slot, but an extra lieutenant or lieutenant commander boff slot is more useful than a console slot to me, especially since consoles come with diminishing returns.
It's the difference between slotting an extra vulnerability locator or carrying another APB 1 or HE2.

Sooo.... I can't upgrade my Mobius Temporal Destroyer because, even though its a Lobi ship, it's a Mirror ship?
I sincerely hope this was just a minor error in the list and the middle finger it seems to be.
When they say "Mirror" ships they mean the 9-console widely-available ones you can get on the exchange for a few hundred thousand EC. Not the prized temporal destroyer that goes for tens to hundreds of millions of EC.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
Seems to me most people aren't shocked that there is a cost to upgrade.
It's more of the shock of what they are not getting. And I already saw this coming. Still ticked, but not shocked at all.

Indeed... but given that all T6 ships won't have the new BOFF slot (so, I take it they'll only get the extra BOFF power)... the difference seems rather small.
Not totally insignificant, mind you. Just small. Skilled players can easily work around it.
The optimism I felt after the Tier 6 blog has faded somewhat. I don't mind paying to access the upgrade structure for my Oddyssey but, from the information so far posted, it does sound like the gap between the upgrade and the tier 6 will be too large. I do think they should get the extra bridge officer slot as a minimum.
If the starship trait is very specific and only useful in some, predominantly delta rising, settings then I can live with not having it. Same goes for the specialised BOFF powers - but I can't see any logic to the faction flagships, at least, not having access to those.
So, overall, mostly there, but falling short at the point of making it acceptable. Please go a little further towards parity.

Given the Mirror Krenn and Mirror Romulan Temporal Destroyer are on the list for upgrades, I think there is a super-strong possibility that the Mobius will get a free upgrade. I do hope for official confirmation soon, as I fly a Mobius on my main and it is my favorite ship in the game.

Pretty much this for a lot of people, I think. This is Star Trek and people have attachments to certain ships, especially canon ships. Early on Cryptic set in the lore that all the ships in STO are modular and we could swap out and upgrade equipment to keep them viable. Unless there's some massive change in the very basis of how things work with these Tier 6 ships in-universe there should be no reason why I can't equip my Galaxy, Defiant, Voyager or whatever with the same technology and if you can't, well, then they're using lore in an irresponsible way just to wrangle money out of people by forcing them to purchase these new Tier 6 Cryptic-designed ships in order to get a few specials.
The whole tier thing is ridiculous to begin with, IMO. It should be based on equipment and crew skill, not something arbitrary like an imaginary tier system. Sadly, that isn't the way Cryptic decided to design the game.

People not being suckered into this terrible idea, and ensuring that T6 ships and Upgrade Modules have abysmal sales?
A pipe dream, I know.
I agree - you'll still have the fleet mods in place for higher hull (10%) and the +1 console.
An example here the Assault Cruiser for the Federation cant be upgraded but the Cstore Refit version can. Though personally I prefer the seating on the normal ship.

There was an error with your eyes. The Temporal Destroyers are upgradable to T6 for free.
