Wow, sure am glad I have 2 Rommy toons! Otherwise I might feel neglected. So is it going to be like this everytime? Last 2 give aways the Roms get screwed and again this time. Why did you guys bother to create the Rom playable faction? They can't stand on their own as Romulans they have to "Align" with Fed or KDF, and they get screwed over and/or forgotten when you introduce something new or give something away. What a waste. Shame too.
It would be nice, since you like to give away bridge packs, if you guys would come up with a bridge pack for one of the largest and most popular ships in the game...Jem Hadar Dreadnaught, it's a large ship with a single room bridge that's no bigger than a Temporal Destroyer bridge. I know I know....wishful thinking.

I have to say, giving away free(!) upgradeable ships is a classy move. Even if not everyone may like them (which is neither here nor there), it's still a nice gesture. Well played, Cryptic.
It would have made sense if instead of the Ambassador, they used the D'Kyr. I haven't seen anyone use one in over a year. I'm sure people buy more Ambassadors at this point than D'Kyrs. It would save a lot of confusion as to why the KDF isn't getting their 3 year anniversary ship.

It might have something to do with the last giveaway they gave out a KDF Cruiser, and a Fed SCI ship, and now this time it's a Fed Cruiser, and KDF science ship..Also they never sold a Ambassador Class unless you count the fleet version.

Do my klingons need to be at level 40 to get the Varanus?
You only need 1 KDF character that is at least the proper level to use to ship in order to be able to claim it during the giveaway. The same goes when buying c-store ships. But once it's unlocked in the c-store all current and future characters of that faction of the proper level can claim it for free. You can even reclaim it for free if you ever discharged it.

I'm pretty sure this is the free T5 Ambassador that was available for a limited time during the 3rd year anniversary. The only alternate skin for it is the Yamaguchi skin and it's only available on the fleet version. The only T5 Ambassador we have currently is the fleet version. The free version they gave away a long time ago was never added to the c-store before. So it's a safe bet the giveaway is the free T5 we got a long time ago.

All fine and dandy, but something's gone horribly wrong with my client. It doesn't make it past Cryptic and says it cannot connect to the patch server. What gives? I'm working 12 hours shifts this week and don't have all the time in the world to get these freebies.

That's because the T5/L40 Ambassador was originally an Anniversary Event ship; our Federation characters are getting access to a ship that hasn't been available for a year and a half, as a permanent account-wide unlock. Compared to the Varanus, which has the stats of the free Deep Space Science Vessel (with a lower shield mod and higher crew), I'm quite pleased with the Ambassador even though I have one from said Anniversary Event already. She's a nice ship, and performs just as well as her Klingon equivalent Kamarang, which is more than can be said of the old Varanus.
I'd definitely say our Federation captains got the better giveaway items

I'm very pleased to see the Ambassador coming back as an account-wide unlock, this is really cool and a nice opportunity for those that weren't playing during the third year anniversary to get a neat and iconic ship with an interesting play-style. That being said... Why was it paired up with the Varanus?
Don't get me wrong, the Varanus is a great ship. I've had mine for years and I love it. Plus this is a great chance for all those KDF science captains on a budget to get a true science ship. But the KDF has a counterpart to the Ambassador, the Kamarag, and it's a great ship that's also been unavailable since that anniversary. I love the Kamarag too, before I got my Mogh it was the only battlecruiser my main would ever fly (I'm lookin' at you, Bortas) and it rocked.
I'm not knocking the choice on either side, but wouldn't a pairing of Ambassador and Kamarag or Varanus and Nebula have made more sense?

Ok, first off I have to say thanks for giving us free stuff, it is something that you don't have to do and it is a great gesture on your part. We all love free things, that being said I have to point out the negatives about the givaway:
First off, the Fed ship being givien away this year was already given away last year in 2 different versions, it in NOT available in the C-store, and Romulan's CANNOT use it.
The KDF ship is a decent ship and its nice because it gives sci captains another option for a ship, however it is a sci ship not a cruiser like the fed ship, and Romulan/Reman players CANNOT use it.
The uniforms are always nice it gives players more options, HOWEVER do the KDF or Rom/Reman players get any....NO
Do the Romulan/Remans get a new bridge option....NO
So lets recap:
Feds get a ship that was given away last year(although this years its a VA-T5 version) and it IS NOT EVEN in the C-store & they get 2 uniforms & a bridge, KDF get a decent ship a bridge and NO uniforms, Romulan/Reman get NO ship and NO uniforms.
So again the Romulan/Reman players get totally screwed again and this year there is ZERO excuse for it because you can not claim they are 'too new' anymore. It is not our fault that there is not 'enough' Romulan ships/items, we have been asking for them.
Giving out free things is great but when you completely and intentionally exclude your newest 'faction/race', give out things already given out and favor one faction/race over another it is HIGHLY insulting, I have been, as i'm sure many other have been also, waiting since last year for the romulans to get something in this years giveaway, but instead they get completely forgotten & excluded, where is all the 'new' items we were told they going to get???
How is this in any way what so ever even remotely fair or balanced?? Oh my bad, it is NOT.
Dont get me wrong, Getting free stuff is great and appreciated, but if your going to do it make it as absolutely fair/balanced as possible, if you cant then simply do not do it..
I know there are those of you who will 'hate' on this but it is true and needs to be said, the only way the 3 factions/races will get treated fairly is if WE the players say enough is enough..

O'well, don't really need the account unlock anyway as the ONLY way they're getting the T5 Kamarag out of my klink toons hands is if their servers crash and they 'accidentially' wipe my toons. Heck, the fleet Kamarag is such a tiny improvement over the original free ship not worth the 2K zen price- they nailed it with the free version, it's PERFECT. Keep it exclusive.

I have to say I'm quite appalled by the entitled ******** going on in this thread. This stuff is being given away for free. Cryptic didn't have to give away anything. Seriously, what is wrong with you people?
I am unable to get on, whenever I get to the Cryptic screen, it crashes as it can't connect to the patch server for ondemand patching, switching it off doesn't help .Will anything be done for me, and other people who can not log onto the game? I really hope you can do something.
