Ok nice people don't worry you don't have to use a tier 6 ship your tier 5 will be as good as a tier 6.
If that were true, then there wouldn't be a need for a "tier 6" at all; the new ships could just be T5.
They are saying that we will be able to upgrade our T5 ships. But until we know how, and until we know whether or not it's even worth it to do so, we're going to stay worried -- and rightly so.
Yay new missions... Story driven level increase from 50 to 60 means at least 10 more mission available to all factions.. THATS A GOOD THING FINALLY
i dont care if my ship is vice admiral now and then it "wont compete" i play STFs in a COnnie now just for fun and still survive.. so i guess the T5.5 ships WILL hold just fine in the story driven lvl 60 missions... jeeez people calm down.
i was rather more upset with the EC sink and the R&D reset and the patch that didnt allow us to slot multiple projects...than with the season 10 announcement.
aye there will probably a method to get your ships to lvl 60... i guess most lockbox ships will eventually auto level up anyways. fleetships also
if an aegis set can autoupdate to mk xii... a ship can also. the only ships that needed to be updatet manually will most probably be the Z ships.. and yeah.. okay then i give 1000 zen.. and its lvl 60 who cares? if its really 1000 thats okay with me... if its 2500... its not.
the gear question is more serious as every rep gear item is mk xii and i dont think they will be updating every gear piece.
You're not alone at all bud.
I am sure my high end ships will continue to work just fine, especially in the existing content. They've also said they will put a mechanism in place so that these ships aren't just suddenly defunct, I'll judge this mechanism once we actually know what it is (my money is on something within the new crafting system, wasn't there mention of an upgrades school recently? Maybe this is what that is, a method of upgrading MK XIIs to XIIIs and beyond?). End of the day though, MORE CONTENT TO PLAY etc!!! In my own time, with no rush, which is why what some call grind I just call play.
they don't want to invalidate all the purchases of the last 5 years, ya i would hope. like seriously, they need to be comparative with a new tier, or convertible to FULL tier 6, or they are invalidated
Meh, again they are unable to announce things on their official website. And I don't need precognition to tell that they will break the game again, with an incredibly badly thought out and worse-tested update.

Cardassians as either a playable species or as their own faction is "inevitable", but nothing on the table for Delta Rising.
...okay, that's actually awesome news (both that they're coming eventually, and that Delta Rising won't be featuring them (so the devs can put all their energy into Delta Quadrant stuff)).
The rank increase to Fleet Admiral will not allow us to control multiple starships. It's still very much a "something Geko really wants in the game at some point" feature.
This absolutely MUST be the topic of the first Dev Blog....outside of the obligatory announcement blog of course.
The controversy here is entirely predictable.
I assume that, as he already said he'd been preoccupied with planning for STLV, that our illustrious CM has information and articles ready and raring to go.....
And ships with 2 hangar bays. Let's not forget fused equipment.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.
you guys do realize that level 60 will be admiral... not fleet admiral..
level 40-50 was rear admiral.. so the next rank is admiral, only then after admiral will be fleet admiral with a 5 rank pip. and i dont think this is gonna happen now.
so level 60 will be admirals .. no fleet thing no ships to command exept yours

Al said during the presentation that the level 60 rank will be Fleet Admiral. He may have misspoken.

Holy TRIBBLE, I didn't even notice the "most". Wow. Really worried now.
Darn it Was really hoping for that.
Good to know. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.
My guess is 'Most' probably means the ships CBS said 'No' to, as in you can't get a T6 Miranda or Centaur or Connie, etc.

Besides, in canon, admirals below Fleet Admiral were commanding fleets all the time. In TOS, a commodore (equivalent to STO's Rear Admiral, Lower Half) could command a squadron of ships. In the TNG era, even a captain could do it under special circumstances.
We don't want what the Feds have. We want the equivalent. We want fairer treatment. Concern, desire, greed to some extent, and passionate belief that the enough people would buy KDF items to make it worth Cryptic's while.

any minute now......
The sooner they start pushing those puppies out the better for the community's collective blood pressure.
Ok, watching the live stream I hear one thing loud out: "You will be able to make your T5 ship competitive"...
Now, everyone should know now what this actually means. You can fly your paid expensive T5 ships at 60 and beyond, but they won't be that effective. It is like flying a T4 ship at Vice Admiral level...sure you can do this and it is competitive and you can punch through stuff with it...but it is not the same as having a T5 ship....
We won't be able to "upgrade T5 into T6 via crafting" according to Gecko. So, I'd say missed opportunity here imho.
I am officially stopping spending a single dime for gear, C-Store and Dilithium as of right now since it will be utterly obolete in 2 months.
Otherwise, I am eager to read more precise information and am excited.
Like XII Omega set + 1000 omega marks + 10 neural processors + 15k Dil = Omega set XIV ?
Or something like that for fleet gear, ships and such?
I am really afraid I'll have to buy Vulnerability locator XIVs at 200k fleet credit per console....
Nothing has been specifically mentioned about HOW we'd be making tier 5 ships closer to tier 6 ships, and nothing at all about the possibility of upgrading gear.

There we go. Some good/relevant news at last.
Still doesn't really answer the question, but at least one fear is quelled.

Those weren't T5 ships to begin with, though. We're talking specifically about upgrading T5 to T6.

Well, I may have made a little teasing comment about a tier 5 Connie. But nothing serious.

THIS!!! This has totally my vote! It would make sense, still efforts some playing and gives the players something in reward for it.

Ah, that is somewhat worrysome, then. Maybe they mean specifics like the Odyssey, Scimitar, Bortaqs'qu, etc?
(And don't get me wrong, a T6 Connie would be epic, lol.)
