Now while I admit I have been waiting for a SV with 4 fore and 2 aft weapons to go along with the 5/2 Kumari and the 5/3 Avenger, making more tac heavy ships doesn't actually fix the other ships we already have. Science powers, and the whole science vessel lineup needs to be looked at.
Besides, where's our secondary deflectors?
I am intrigued by the notion t5 ships won't be inferior, or we will be able to improve them. Crafted ships anyone?
Speaking of crafting, can we get the good stuff gecko promised us last time he spoke with priority one: Choosing mods, upgrading rep gear, etc.

Yeah it's gonna cost a lot of money or energy credits to upgrade our ships and again for those put in lot off effort to get a ship or something else.

I still don't like this. My mk XII equipment is being rendered obsolete by one arbitrary decision. Not happy.
There willl be a way to keep tier 5 ships from being obsolete; perhaps a similar method will exist to keep our existing gear from being obsolete as well.
This. I'm not getting any more ships until I know exactly how they will be upgradeable.
I'd like to think it will be along the lines of the Tholian gear trade in. Remember the purple requisition boxes? The unique gear inside can be traded for the formerly-lobi gear. Kind of a slap in the face to those of us who paid money for keys to open enough boxes to get the upgradedset, but whatever.
That, or as I entioned, it will be like the Galaxy and you'll have to rebuy it.

Q&A: science ships not competitive, especially when not in fleet. Crafting is for that. New tac heavy Sci ships coming

sci ships dominate in a 5v5 environment, against targets who's effectiveness is totally dependent on 12 station powers. pve pits you against 100 npcs that have little or no station powers. they are to simple for debuffs to effect them, and to numerous to control in a useful way. if you think sci ships aren't the dominate class in game, your not playing enough pvp. if criptic wants to buff sci ships, make NPCs 10 times as complex, more like a player ship, and MUCH less numerous. then the game stops being DEEPS online

It is still interesting to see people complain about sci ships when they are in the best place they have ever been. I have no idea what people are doing wrong but my science ships are my best pve and pvp ships right now. New SA is the craziest thing the devs have ever given us. Seriously I'm parsing anywhere from 20-35k DPS STFs in my science ships... and the STFs end faster in general cause my 6 stacks of SA on gates ect is increasing the team dps and dropping them in seconds.
I wonder sometimes if people are playing the same game.

You know, reading the update, I feel like this expansion is just another LoR in the style of Voyager. A lot of the same things are happening -- New rep, new planets, new species (good and bad) and new ships you can only get as part of the Zen Store bundle. I can't be the only person who feels this way.
You are not. Good or bad, don't expect Cryptic to think "out-side of the box" anymore. They seem to have a track now and they will just keep repeating it until they run out of Trek things to plug into it.

We don't need more ships, better gear, and a cap increase... It's ridiculous. There is NO challenge left in this game for experienced players. In fact I *just* ran NWS, not even an hour ago, on a Dyson Destroyer, Sci Reman, with blue doffs, and it was laughably easy. The hardest End Game, "elite", content and our team rofflestomped it in under 8min. Maybe less, I wasn't really timing it. The most taxing thing I had to do was pick up my loot. -.-

Well, would you rather just have your tier 5 ships become obsolete? Personally, I'd rather do some R&D and/or pay something to keep using the ships I love.
I find it a little saddening that Cryptic's way to make cruisers and science vessels more competitive is to weight their bridge officer seating and console layout more to tactical.

Im not a rager or a moaner on basic principle usually, but as others have mentioned I am holding off of buying any more ships and high end gear and conserving resources until I have information on exactly how my shiny shinies will not become obsolete.
I saved for a couple of months to buy the kumara bundle recently, and I own a ton of fleet, lockbox, lobi and c-store ships including several bundles, and I may just have to replicate me a pitchfork if all my work has been for nought.
BUT, I am not jumping the gun just yet, I shall wait for information from the Team. The rest of the season 10 announcements have me very exited, provided this major worry is answered in short order.
Please take care of us as stated guys

True, but those who just rushed to Level 15 for crafting now facing that their new ultras will be obsolete in 2 months. :P
Just be glad that we'll be able to upgrade them all via R&D.
