STO is a game. A game is supposed to be fun. This is not fun.
I have been here since closed beta and have changed with every update since then. What this is about is that all your hard work getting three toons to the max level of crafting and having that ripped away from you just to start over from scratch and then less then a week later they snatch part of the ability to crawl your way back up the mountain via a path instead of a climb along the rocky, treacherous, near-vertical slope. Crytpic/PWE just didnt put up a sign on that path, they blew the TRIBBLE out of that side of the whole mountain.

This is so ridiculous - if I were more paranoid, I would think they're nerfing the R & D in order to drive focus away from all the other things they've broken. This is more of a trend than anything else - make it worse, change it back to horrible, then say that they listened to player feedback and refuse to listen to any other complaints about it.

No - but your quoted post does not seem to take into account multiple slots allowing you to progress more quickly than 10 xp per minute, which the XP curve assumes you will use. Slots 4 and 5 are actually totally bonus and were added in playtesting, and we didn't go back and scale XP around them. By my calculations, it will take 350 hours of R+D to hit level 15, almost all of which can be offline time assuming a large starting resource stockpile.
The system's supposed to be a long-term goal for level 15, and even more so for level 20. Not everyone will like that, but some people will like it very much.
"Is the amount of XP required...going to be looked at"? Maybe. The XP curve is structured the way it is because the system is designed for 4 different types of player - super casual, casual, midcore, and super hardcore. It's less of a curve and more of 4 different curves stuck together - thus the extreme breakpoint around level 3 that many players have noticed.
As you point out, the initial XP values are extremely low. Part of this is due to the tutorial that isn't in-game yet - we give you the components to make a Mark 2 item for free and walk you through the creation process. We wanted that creation to give you enough XP to hit level 1 - so 1 5-minute project had to be enough XP to ding. Another reason it's so low is because you start with only one R+D slot - when you unlock the 2nd and then the 3rd slot, the curves increase in steepness under the assumption you'll do projects in all available slots. (Worth noting that this does NOT occur for the 4th and 5th slots, making all projects you run in those slots "bonus time" from our perspective).
Of course we don't expect players to play 24 hours of the day 7 days a week. We know the patterns of play that most of our players follow, and the system is supposed to be a long-term but achieveable/attainable goal for these players.

I noticed that, too. Some I was grouping with had savior, vicious, and ironsides all on and they were practically unkillable.
As far as they R&D nerf...still sigh on that. I play often, but I am thinking about those who play maybe 2-4 times a week. It will take them FOREVER to cap a school now. I understand they want to make this revamp last more than a month, but this is pushing it pretty hard.
Someone in-game mentioned that they were probably doing this to "test the waters" to see how much of a nerf they could get away with. This may be right on. I think they may come back and say ok, we will allow you to run 2 research in the same school at a time, but not 3+. This is generally how it goes. They tried to meet players in the middle Until then though, still pulling my support.

I would also like to request that you pass on the feedback here about the R&D nerf, while i personally am enjoying the new system and can compensate for the nerf, not everyone can play 8 hours a day. while i dont mind it taking a long time to reach the end of a school, could you pass on a request for cryptic to consider adjusting the curves slightly? to further weight xp on the 15-20 curve (maybe make lvl 15 600k or so, and compensate accordingly)

Resolved an issue which was allowing players to run multiple Research Training projects from the same school simultaneously.

So you say it was an issue ? IMO we need to be able to run more than one bonus XP assignment. Players don't have enough time to do the R&D, REP, FLEET ,EC grinding . This game is more numbers than action and is starting to ware thin ! Give us back the multiply XP assignments. Im sure it not hard to see that you have pissed of the players STO.
Im just gonna say what my fleetmate says - and he works in retail - for one customer that has complained about something, theres about ten more who havent. If they ignore all of this negative feedback that has been posted here, and which I as well am supporting, that'll be a sign they dont know what they do.

The training projects are a great idea, you should feel good about adding them.
