See, in the P2P world you make an example of someone, and then their friends ready to mobilize and go all "Well, we'll show you who you're messing with" have to weigh what they're doing against what it's going to cost them in real money- lost accounts, and so on.
In a F2P environment, those same people can make throwaway accounts from now until doomsday. Sure, you can fantasize about things like hardware-identifier bans rather than IP and all that, but F2P still pretty much heavily favors the diehard griefer over the time-and-resource-limited developer.
Well, other companies have not only banned guilds but they have leveraged things like the DMCA and other legal claims to get the offending websites of these groups shut down.
I think it's a matter of time before the chans and places where some awful things get posted get the plug pulled. On that day, I will go out and buy a cake and a handle of vodka and throw a party.
What I want to know, is are there any in game GM's that do anything is this game? Why aren't these people disciplined? We've got people traipsing all over in swimwear, griefing Risa, and it's always a particular fleet that we cannot name.
Ban them!
And yes, the policy of "no naming and shaming" is antiquated. Your dealing with people who troll for the sake of trolling. Not for attention. I've watched this go on for over a year, at what point will something be done?
Requiring the general player base to not feed trolls works, on one condition.
That trolls are squashed by the responsible party.
It's rather like the idea that we should not take the law into our own hands.
Perfectly sensible if you have a working police force, virtually suicidal if the police don't exist or are ineffectual.
All perfectly sensible in the real world, where one has no choice but to live.
All a crock of manure when applied to a fun-time fantasyland one is not required to remain in but can leave when things become so intolerable. In that case, merely justification for continued yowling by those who refuse to exercise all available options.

Are there any developers in this game?
Ban them because they clearly not doing their job.
Can people use thei cover shield? Yes.
Should people be banned for using their powers? Yes if you ask random people on the forums.
Are sto players using their brains before posting ?No.
Btw GMs are busy banning people for telling gorn jokes and posting doffs.

That's all well and good, but what if you weren't the one being harassed, or even someone who is immune to said harassment tactics, but merely the friend of one or more players that was? Would you just tell your friends to leave? Or would you want to stand up for them?
Or what if you actually run the game? Would you want players to leave instead of staying and enjoying it so that they had the possibility of giving you money and/or encouraging others to do so?
It's in everyone's best interest to stop the trolling.
Besides it's not really a race when the fifth person across the line can be the one to get first place, it more of a mad dash to get to a point then hope you get lucky.
The race on Risa reminds me of a group of kids all running into the kitchen then fighting over the cookie jar to see who gets the first cookie and Cryptic is the uncle sitting in the other room laughing his TRIBBLE off because he only left three cookies in there!

If the trolls provided substantial revenue, banning them might not serve the financial interests of the company.

The revenue would at least have to outweigh the revenue lost when the troll victims stop purchasing cash shop items, subscribing, or just leaving altogether.

Ok... so the original point of this thread is to address some Trolls trying to ruin the race, and things blow up.
I personally haven't seen this behavior, but I do think something should be done about it. Blocking the flag (which is kind of a stupid mechanic for a race IMO) with a Cover Shield is basically a childish F U to those taking part in the race and an attempt to deprive them of their race reward. Kinda like sabotaging a STF with the goal to try and force people to RQ and take an hour penalty.
A serious lack of respect for other players. Trolling Zone Chat is one thing, and can be ignored. But physical obsticles blocking people from earning a reward just to say "TRIBBLE you" is really sad. Risa is supposed to be a fun summer paradise. Blocking flags wasn't allowed during the Winter Event. Why is it allowed in the Summer Event?
D-Day was celebrated just a few days ago .
Did that have any meaning for you , and those like you who protect the very ideologies that those who fought and died there on D-Day have fought to prevent .
Which is why it's far more likely it's being done by griefers whose only goal is to TRIBBLE people off rather than cheating.
And considering how childish people get in their forum flame wars I wouldn't be surprised if some of this griefing was being done to try to get people in certain fleets in trouble, just like that thread a week or so ago when some people tried arguing that the image of an eagle is a TRIBBLE symbol and the unpopular fleet using it should be punished.
1. that was me
2. the Symbol was used by the TRIBBLE, check if you don't believe. 2nd Symbol
3. i did not say they should be punished. I asked why it is allowed to use a symbol like this.
4. i would have made the thread anyway, no matter what Fleet it was.
Sorry that a Genocide of millions bothers me, and especially that someone puts a symbol used by a Killer regime as Fleet Trademark. If its okay I will use an Al-Quaida group picture where they are celebrating over 9/11, or something nice from the ku Klux Klan as banner?
So as long as certain fleets are allowed to do whatever they want and have their own protector at PWE, we are all f...ed up.
See, things like this are why I don't worry about griefing and such overmuch and just go about my business. The response to it always seems to be flooded with (often downright offensively) disproportionate and inaccurate comparisons...

I'm pretty sure they do it because people compared them to the TRIBBLE first and they just ran with it.

EDIT:

I never had any problem with this fleet. And all I asked is that they change their logo. There are dozens of other bird symbols, and I feel very sad that of all things, this specific symbol was used.
But it doesn't matter anymore, I learned my lesson here.
Not completely... Its still about people being unfair to other players. And although we shall report all infos about interruptions, trolling, trouble causing, some can do what they want because we shouldn't report to much infos. Or so..

The original topic was the cover shield griefing on Risa, and it spiraled out of control to forum rules and stuff like that.
Is there anyway to salvage this and get back to the topic of Cover Shield F U signs on the flags?

Better?
It's a shame that some people are so churlish as to resort to such behavior.
Report individuals if you directly observe it and keep our fingers crossed for a patch from cryptic.
Disco balls at the finish or start line are one thing. They don't truly interfere with anything.
But cover shields interfere with other players.
Dare I say - perhaps people should run for...cover???:P
