Not that I don't like the new stuff, but you are aware that there are still ships flying with the insignia upside down...? That there are uniforms missing rank insignia? That there are uniforms with upside down rank insignia? That there are bridges with lcars consoles backwards?
There's a TON of broken and badly made things in this game, how about fixing some of that before fixing things that aren't broken?
The ship exteriors are the job of a ship character artist, nor a ground character artist. Hired for different skills, assigned different tasks. Sometimes artists can crossover to help but it is a bit like complaining to the exterminator about the plumbing.
The bridges are the job of an environment artist and the LCARS consoles are, I believe, deliberately backwards because they need to save on usage and these aren't supposed to be examined closely. Heck, the Odyssey bridge has another artist's resume and job search cover letter on it. The LCARS aren't meant to seem functional, just to seem like a backdrop.
This is the first I've heard or seen of missing pips unless you're talking about them disappearing into your body when you use the bulk sliders, in which case the honest solution would probably be that the bulk sliders need to be more restricted. I'd never heard of an upside down rank insignia. Which rank insignia even look different upside down? I'm guessing something on a Klingon baldric?

Still need berets. For the French. And Yorkshiremen in France, I guess.
Berets in Yorkshire. We wouldn't be seen dead in 'em, it 't' flatcaps oop 'ear.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

crypticjoejing thanks for the good news. I really think these options will go a long way for many people, myself included. A quality update!
All we need now is for some hairstyles to have a quality pass too. Such as 'Shaved 01 Thicker' - which beams up faster than the player body during transport, leaving the player bald for a long time, and looking silly.
While you are at it, please be so kind and do something about the pre-created face and hair columns. It is always annoying to move the mouse on the screen and seeing how the previews are shown and on more than one occation I have done changes I didnt want to do.
I think that players are changing their uniforms more often than they change the face or hair.
crypticjoejing with these new complexions, will we finally get to have complexions work on the body as well or will our characters using the Infected complexion or any of the other race specific ones be stuck looking like a random head stuck on a different body.
Since we're addressing ethnic diversity, another frustrating feature is the lack of any larger noses - specifically arched or aquiline noses. Every nose in the CC is button, scooped or straight-ish. This makes it pretty impossible to construct a convincing looking Mediterranean or Middle-Eastern face. C'mon, Jews (and Italians and the rest of us) in space please?
Yeah, that's a good one to add down the road. Definitely hard to make a Picard right now ;P
So, here's the plan: get Kestrel to write an amazing Picard story. Find space in the budget for Sir Patrick Stewart. Then they'll tell you to make a Picard model. And then you can pass that model on to the character creator while you're at it.

I think it would a nice feature to be able to separately choose eye, nose, and mouth shapes rather than have them tied to the head shape and complexion. However, I'm not sure how easy this would be given the current character model.

It is easier with custom aliens as I've tried remaking a number of characters for fun.
A piece of feedback I'd repeat: lax up the head slider restrictions.
The cranial/forehead/etc. tend to make sense but I think nose, mouth, chin, etc. sliders could be relaxed to the alien level restrictions for most species. You certainly don't use human restrictions for most human NPCs.
Also unless I miss my guess, Hakeev's head is the Klingon type head, based on the nose shape. So you have a humanoid head with a Klingon nose somewhere in the game files.
In fact, several humanoid species, I believe, currently have unique head/nose shapes that could be shared with all humanoids... and could receive all humanoid head shapes as well.
An interesting observation I made some time ago is that Liberated Borg Humans, Humans, and Aliens are using three different heads because when I load my saved Shatner face in each, I get slightly different results, even between human and Liberated Borg human.
I wonder how well the new complexions work with some of the alien parts. At the minute some of the alien parts (like ear types) can be a little non-contiguous when it comes to complexion.

This would help. A couple other options would be nice if they were increased as well.
Maybe I'm just used to the old skin textures, but the new ones seem less detailed and look a little too plastic like at a distance, in particular Complexion 3.
I look forward to playing with the new options nonetheless .

That's a valid opinion, and hence one of the benefits of the variety in choices.
That said, many complained that none of the faces looked young, and in real life, very often, a younger face has notably fewer details than an older face.
Again though, glad the original textures are still desirable options.

On that note, would it be possible to get a version of the old complexions without stubble at some point?

Just checked with production and how STO's setup works - these heads *should* be available in UGC automatically
Let us know if that isn't the case when it hits Tribble.
Will definitely test that if/when they turn the Foundry back on. Perhaps you could ask someone when that might be?

Currently it seems only the Trill and Caitian seem to have complexions that match from head to toe.
Thanks!

Not complaining much, free stuff is free. But I know I'll never use those hairstyles on my female characters. Unless I want to make this character.
