and thats why its the same old argument, you are just one of a few who threaten to quit or actually do, but the majority wont because PWE has put enough effort in that the community is happy with it. you can try fight the status quo, but in the end you will get left behind and no one will notice.

my point is that arguing for a pvp update is all well and good, but in the grand scheme of things if it doesnt sell well for the majority, there is not gonna be much profit in it for PWE.

Agreed, pvpers are the ultimate min/max and that drives a lot of sales. People trying to get the loot pvpers pay 100's of million ec for. A couple of players who generate thousands in real dollars in spending is worth more than a thousand casual players who generate almost nothing for PW.

how would you know it wouldn't sell well? It was never given the chance. And PvP thrives very well in other games just fine. You aren't supporting your argument very well.

    Revamped ESD? Again?

So yeah, did no one tell you folks at Cryptic that it's not the map that makes spending time on ESD nearly intolerable?
    mvp333 wrote: »
IIRC, D'Angelo said that they wouldn't do any more series, because it's not "repeatable content" (a.k.a. 'grind'... *facepalm*), and therefore apparently not worth it.

Why is not at all surprising to me that someone at Cryptic would say something so asinine?

The "repeatable content" that Cryptic has isn't any more or less repeatable than anything else. Seriously, what about the experience of doing it, in and of itself, makes running around New Romulus scanning random garbage worth repeating? What about that qualifies as griping, enthralling, worthwhile gameplay that people should be chomping at the bit to do over and over?

Here's the thing, all of Cryptic's "repeatable content" is complete and utter ****. People just keep doing it for Marks. Period. They lock quality gear into a store and force you to replay a tiny amount of simplistic, boring, onerous, repetitive, content that is appallingly terrible in order to earn the required currency (remember how we were getting rid of those? Huh... guess what) to buy from it.

Right now the only thing you get from playing story content are paltry sums of experience that are better earned elsewhere and gear that is generally lousy and can be obtained in one play through. Oh yeah, and any gear that might be worth obtaining from missions? Generally unique or is a single slot item (don't need more than one Impulse Engine, now do you?) so again, no need to replay, right? Hell, the missions themselves don't even reward energy credits.

So yeah, here's the thing Cryptic... want see your "times played" metrics increase when it comes to story-based content? Attach a worthwhile currency reward to it; Problem solved. This isn't rocket science you know, Hell, it's just 2+2... so why can't anyone in your office manage to put those two numbers together and come up with four?

Yes, my point exactly! ESD will never be a nice and wellcoming place for anyone sane until they finally hire a GM that will monitor the place and take care of the rubbish that is going on on a daily basis.

You ever see the movie "Weird Science"?

I played with some InstaClone, LTD software, hooked it up to government computers and used a self-portrait (pastels on paper) and a German book as a resistor. The resulting explosion left the self-portrait unharmed, blew up half the dorm, and created organicmanfred.

Once again, they need to do more than that in order to at least maintain a level of some quality in this game. Because I'm not into playing crappy games.

I'm talking about all the current KDF content that needs fixing and remaking if a peace treaty is in order. The Klingon faction has a lot of instances that are created and revolve around killing Feds, assuming that the two factions are in a state of war. And I'm not talking about storyline leveling missions, I'm talking about end-game stuff.
Having the Federation and Klingon Empire at peace, while I still can jump to Kahless expanse and slaughter a few thoulsand feds just for the fun of it at the same time is downright stupid.

They are trying for an expansion this year. An Expansion would be of sufficient size for a revamp to the KDF/FED missions for ending the gear and transforming the Alpha/Beta quadrants to new Blue vs Red configuation for continued PvP.

Hahaha, sry not trolling you, but this just made me lol. But it does make you wonder tho. Its actually what my thought are about most KDF and PvP only players lol

Anyway, on topic. Saw the new ESD on Trible and I have to say that will sure become players favorite area. It looks amazing, and Cryptic has every rights to feel proud about this.
Looking forward to the whole Undine content and really hope we can get our hands on some Undine Nicor Cruisers :D
And ending the war will probably turn out to be the best thing since LoR.

Season 9 is not designated as an expansion. The suposed expansion may (or may not for what I know) come later down the year.

What I'm saying is - IF they arrange peace between the Fed & KDF as the season title indicates, they need to redo some KDF (as well as Fed on a smaller scale) ongoing content that revolves around killing each other, blowing each other's facilities and imprisoning officers of the oposing faction and selling them to slavery.
IF they want this game to resemble anything that has some quality and not half-bugged flash game.

"Necessity is the mother of invention" and in this case, the "New Accord" may very well be the necessity and realization that a coming invasion of the Alpha Quadrant by the Undine, orchestrated by the Iconians, is going to have to be fought by putting differences aside and forming an alliance between the FED, KDF, and ROM sides. With the gateway access being so close to the Mol'Rihan system, the Romulans may ask for the Accord. KDF may recognize the honor in the battles fought between them and the FED, and the FED will welcome peace between them and the Romulans, avoiding conflict that's been going on for hundreds of years (by 2409).

Mild spoiler for those who have not played the Step Between Stars mission:
The end of the mission shows a possible falling-out of the top captains of each faction. This may be the tie-in lead-up to this "New Accord" of which they speak. These three, along with Worf, Tuvok, and D'Tan may be the ones who sit down and create this accord. Whether it's at Khitomer or some other location, The impending threat may be more than one faction can handle alone.

What would be even cooler is if the Voth standing in the new ESD is a spoiler for a possible fourth faction joining the accord! I'm not talking about making the Voth a 4th playable faction. It's already been discussed that there will not be another 4th faction for quite some time. But having the Voth join the F/K/R/V alliance may be very interesting. Since several playable characters already have Voth ships they command, then we already may have this 4-way alliance as a possibility...

    Just my thoughts...

Unfortunately, that won't be the case. This Voth was always there on Tribble as soon as the Season 8 build was on.
He's only here to allow you to access and test the Dyson Sphere from ESD.

Perpetual didn't 'envision' anything, they basically took the ST III spacedock lounge set (the one where Rand was looking at the damaged Enterprise as it pulled in; and used it for that piece of concept art. Maybe if they'd DONE more than a few concept art sketches in the 4 years they had the STO IP, you could say something, but 4 years with just concept art and a few photoshopped marlups to show for that time leads me to believe if they ever had managed to implement something, it wouldn't have been all that different or better then what we have now from Cryptic, but in the end they squandered their opportunity and went bankrupt - so we'll never really know.

Nah, it's not even that good. From the current tribble notes, it looks like the Voth Zone is being converted into the Undine-occupied zone. So it's basically going to be the Contested Zone but with Undine in it instead. No ground battlezone.

    Aaand that's about it.

Seriously, if that's the "new" space adventure zone they mentioned in the Dev Blog, then I think someone needs to rename this to Season 8.75.

Yeah, not all that enticing to do. Especially if the new Rep is going back to the old way AND also looking like it not having any proper missions for leveling up. :(

i doubt this so much there is a better chance of all the stars exploding in one go and it was all the fault of a clumsy-klutz klingon who sat on the iconian "i win" button.

if there is to be an alliance, 3 + 1 then that last one i would assume is the cardassians or the hugh like borg/ axum and korok's renegades.

I can't see a Borg+ Fed alliance, ever... Unless some serious changes happened to the philosophical driving force of the Borg and they were near extinction... But even then... The Federation is all about freedom for all life, but if that freedom has no personal "identity" (as the Borg exist as a collective), then I can almost see the Fed sit by idly and watch what happens rather than lend a hand to the Borg...

Still, I see an alliance between the Fed, KDF, and Rom Republic being a definite maybe. The new Rom Republic seems to be very much willing to change the way things have been done, and D'Tan is willing to cooperate. If the Fed and KDF can get past their social differences (basically the only reason for the war), then the Accord would be a great benefit.

Is it possible that in a few seasons from now, the war through the Delta quadrant isn't successful and the Iconians/Undine decide to invade through the Gamma Quadrant? This is Season 10-11+ speculation, but it would still make sense to see Cardassians/Bajorans become a future playable species...
