Well, there you go. That's why you don't understand. Your responsibility to the business stops at your employer's checkbook. When you have to run a business the ruleset is different. Especially in the service industries. You don't let a sale walk away unhappy. And I'm gonna tell you why. Because that person is then gonna tell everybody else they talk to about their experience. People pay more attention to the negative than they do the positive. Negative experiences, directly correlates to negative money, see? As a service worker, you don't really see this, unless you look for it, but I assure you, business owners are keenly aware of it. Next time you go to work walk up to your boss and tell them that you DON'T think the customer is always right, and see what happens. Even better, tell this to a potential employer in the service industry, and see if you get a call back. Don't forget to include the part about how you think people who ask for unorthodox requests, are mentally, unbalanced, nutjobs, and should be shown the door.

And please don't comeback with "Well, by your logic, asking your waiter to do your laundry is OK then?" We've already established that sort of thing as being patently, silly.

Actually I've been told flat out by my employers that the customer is NOT always right. And it frankly sounds like you live a pampered, rich brat lifestyle, because no restaurant I've worked for or ever gone to has made stuff that wasn't on their menu.

And yes, asking to be served bacon in a place that doesn't serve meat is just as silly as asking the waiter to do your laundry.

Well, I must live far away from you, then. I've been going to a four star Italian restaurant

This explains why the reality the rest of us "commoners" see daily completely evades your grasp time and time again. You don't live in the same world we, the 99%, live in.

Now, now, now. I eat at McDonalds all the time just like the 99%ers. :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

But do you demand that McDonalds serves you a Texas-style steak like our friend the Captain would?

Is that projection I sense? Because I'm pretty sure you're the one making stuff up.

You can ignore it all you want, but it is true. They might make something that is not on the menu if it sometimes is, or maybe if it it is part of or made of stuff they already have, but NEVER will a Normal restaurant or fast food place make something that has nothing to do with their menu. McDonalds will not make you a pizza, no matter how you ask.

I'd say the same, but for one little detail: you never had any credibility with me to begin with.

So only 1% of the population eats in quality restaurants. Give it up, kids, let it go.

I'm "responsible for the maintenance, and inspection of water based fire suppression systems." Yeah, I make sure fire sprinklers work. I cash my paychecks and use the money to fund my gold mine collection. I literally burn 100$ bills in my furnace to stay warm. Grow up.

So a cushy government job where the chance to be fired is almost nil, as TRIBBLE up only results in reassignment. You're clearly making enough money though if you can afford to go to a four star Italian restaurant that caters to all of your whims and the owners are "pleased to see you." More than likely they're just grinning and bearing it for your money despite your unreasonable requests, so you obviously spend a lot on their food--more than their average customer.

So, it's not a low-paying government job by any means.

Those of us with real-world lives understand perfectly well the truth of the words of that famed philosopher, Sir Michael Jagger, who said, "You can't always get what you want."
