Excuse me? Where do you get off claiming that the on-screen, canon evidence I've presented is "wrong" while you're spouting "from canon" as correct?
Starfleet uses actual Earth naval designations when referring to it's ships.
Do yourself a favor and look up what a Naval Dreadnought is. Go ahead.
Yes, I'm sure the U.S.S. Entente, which was called a Dreadnought, ON SCREEN, IN CANON, wasn't build for combat.
I mean, a Dreadnought in Starfleet means "Scientific Craft responsible for ferrying Botanists to alien worlds to study indigenous flora" doesn't it?
I have no doubts that a Klingon...you know, those guys that are at a state of near-perpetual warfare, and who are probably experts in combat craft, would call a ship a "Battle Cruiser" for no particular reason.
Just like I'm sure the alien from Conundrum couldn't have possibly looked at the Capital Ship sized weapons arrays and highly advanced torpedo launchers on the Galaxy class, and thought "By jove! This ship is for surveying solar flares and collecting gaseous samples!"
In short, you're an idiot. And you're even more of an idiot claiming that "(in the spirit of the OP): Yes tot he Typhoon, as a skin/console bundle option based on the Oddyssey" and you're still an idiot for ignoring the proof, figuratively sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming "LALALALALALA I'M NOT LISTENING"
You, fail. And you fail so hard, there are not a hundred-thousand Picard facepalms to demonstrate your extreme levels of failure.
I'm not saying you are wrong with the things you presented, but I believe that you are misinterpreting what has been stated.
The fact that other, more warlike people interpret Starfleet vessels as warships shows that all of their vessels are equipped with state-of-the-art weaponry. After all, sending ships to explore the unknown undergunned might come back to bite your tail later on. And it further shows that there is no need for more "battleships" since we already seem to have plenty of them, by your logic
Starfleet's mission always incorporated defense, yet the organization as a whole is not build around fighting. This is stated throughout every incarnation of the show and certainly trumps your interpretation of one spoken line of background dialogue about a ship we never saw on-screen.
I could comment on the rest you wrote, but I figure you're just grouchy and need to take a nap or something. I just wanted to repost my initial statement to not derail the thread any further and go back to the topic at hand. You should really relax a bit

Starfleet has always been gear to exploration and defense. thus why there ships are designed with a dual nature. a peace role and a combat role. Defiant is the ONLY example when they decide to go pure warship.

No, they haven't. In the 23rd Century, Starfleet was more "militarized". It's vessels had military designations, with ship/class names derived from warships of Earth's naval past. Many of the same naval (military) traditions were continued on in Starfleet.
At least, until Roddenberry went full-on moonbat by the time TNG came about, and decided to thumb his nose up at Paramount and Harve Bennett.
The events of Star Trek VI were meant to reconcile the two eras.

The degree of militarization is open for debate, but what never changed was that Starfleet's purpose first and foremost was to "seek out new life and new civilizations", even in TOS. The designations the ships carried are not designations earth naval vessels had. Star Trek is not our present day earth, no matter if we use ranks or designations that sound similiar, and Starfleet is not the bucking US Navy. In Trek terms, a "cruiser" is the term to describe a multi-mission starship. The Connie was a Heavy Cruiser in it's time, other people referred to it as a battle cruiser, yet Starfleet didn't (I think, if they did I'm wrong on that one, but I think it was always aliens referrig to battle cruisers and the on-screen display identifies the ship as a "Class I Heavy Cruiser").
Even the script for Star Trek VI said that Starfleet is and always was under civil control (the scene was actually not shown, but then again a lot of stuff was cut from the release).

I think the Jupiter could actually look pretty nice with a bit of polishing. Maybe even make it that broadside cruiser they were talking about a while ago.
Quoting myself because I'm not sure what else to add to the conversation.
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
I definitely like to see the Typhoon and the Jupiter as playable spacecraft.
After the Dominion War, the decline of the Romulan Star Empire and the tensions with the Klingons, Starfleet was certainly totally disillusioned about it's role as the military of the Federation. Having our selection of ships reflect that through those raw and utilitarian looking Battleships and Dreadnoughts would be a welcome improvement of the immersion factor.
I think that these vessels can be made distinctive in gameplay through buffed Cruiser Commands (i.e. buffed weapons and engines for the Typhoon, and buffed shields and auxiliary for the Jupiter). That would set them apart nicely from other Federation cruisers since they would not depend on set bonuses from overspecialized consoles while still giving them their niche uses. Adding innate passive abilities to those vessels, like a reduced energy drain on beam weapons for the Typhoon, would also be viable way of setting these ships apart from the remaining bulk of the Federation fleet.
When it comes to the appearance of those two vessel I have to say that the current ingame meshes are not as bad as they are made out to be. Unlike many Klingon designs, used ship part are significantly altered (i.e. the Typhoon features doubled Cerberus nacelles, a Celestial hull that actually features discernible Phaser arrays or the beautifully simplified and elongated Majestic saucer, that does not only look less cluttered without it's original superstructure but also accentuates those two rows of primary Phaser arrays really nicely).
So the only real questions here is: Why are those spacecraft not already in the C-store?
C'mon Cryptic, the Typhoon Battleship is the most aggressive and badass looking ship in the entire Starfleet. How could it not be playable!?
And don't forget about the Jupiter and the Balaur and every other awesome NPC ship that absolutely deserves to be playable!
C'mon Cryptic, we know you can do it!

nothing more, nothing less [well, more would be ok, but its fine]
I was always curious why the odyssey was made instead of the typhoon. The typhoon should be a true assault ship with at least four tac consoles.
Think someone had a cool idea with it being unique ship design of having all weapons slots on its sides or 1 forward 1 back 3 on left 3 on right. Let it equip dual cannons and have special console that does move rain of fire. Kinda like a cannon scatter volley but fire all directions regardless of targets. Dunno if itd be effective but would look awesome.
I honestly think the Enterprise F should of been a Typhoon. But that's just me.

Innate - 2 Hangars, able to equip Callisto/Ganymede/Europa class Frigates (Whatever name, they're all names of Jupiters moons)
Special Console - Emergency Launch Bay. Carrier has emergency launch aircraft sitting on deck, ready to launch at all times. Allows a single extra squadron (6 Fighters, 4 Runabouts, 2 Frigates) to be launched and active for 2 minutes before being automatically recalled to the Carrier at the end of the 2min duration. 5min Cooldown.
The console is based on the modern Aircraft Carrier tactic of "Ready Five", where combat capable aircraft are sitting in the catapult, ready to launch within five minutes.
Hull Strength - 55,000
Shield Mod - 1.2
Turn - 5
Bonus Power - +5 Shields, +10 Aux
Console Layout - 4 Engi, 3 Sci, 3 Tac
BOff layout - Cmd Engi, LTC Tac, Lt Sci, Lt Sci, Ens Tac (Ens Uni for Fleet)
Weapons - 4/3, like other Combat oriented Carriers.
My idea for the Jupiter-specific Frigates, since they're Federation, I figure more of a Support boat with some damage thrown in would be acceptable.

I'd guess the overall support for both classes would be kind of low, considering they're both incredibly ugly designs - I mean truly, deeply, horribly, embarrassingly hideous. Quasimodo would look at them and say, "Wow. They're really ugly." The Elephant Man would look at them in disgust and horror.
That said though, they really are shining examples of the best Cryptic can manage with non-canon starship design.

JUPITER AND TYPHOON 2410!!
I'm sorry to people who I, in the past, insulted, annoyed, etc.
Last i heard was that if they ever became playable they would get a redesign so they won't be this ugly unless the ship designers TRIBBLE up again (Avenger i'm looking at you).
Well, I want the Typhoon to be like a version of the Apex/Bortas except with a better turn rate, but that's just me.
The Structural Integrity Destabilizer sounds cool but it sounds like something a Science Vessel would have. IMO the Typhoon should have something more, Cruiser like.
Only my opinion.
How about a overpowered console that gives some built-in boff abilities like beam overload torpedo high yieldengineering team and some others.
Or maybe something that gives passive buffs like all energy/projectile weapons have slightly longer range or larger firing arcs.
