I was impressed with the new episode. Art team really gone the mile with the sun and the Jenolan Sphere.
And hate to admit it, but the Dyson Ship performs admirably. Hate to say it, but seems all the old Science Ships are obsolete, except the Vesta.
Also, the ending with Captain Koren ranting about the Federation and Romulans having spheres, seems like it was poking fun at the KDF players, where they weren't getting all the toys.
Only issues I really had was that the sound really was buggy when you entered that first room, and during the battles you couldn't hear the dialogue. Even when Volume is maxed out and Music turned off. This is an old problem that Cryptic has yet to fix.
That and it's grueling punishment for having multiple characters. I don't have time to do my fleet mark grinding.
Dr. Cooper's vest was nice enough, but I got the impression he wet his pants several times during the mission, so a trip to Starfleet Laundry may be in order!;)
So I keep hearing about the pitch black spacewalk. I'm trying to get to the bottom of this issue. Please post any screenshots you may have of this as well as what graphical settings you are running at.
Its probably the exact same bug as the long standing graphical textures bug from the start of season 8. Once the textures arent being applied, they never are. Probably the same issue here. Textures not applying so it looks pitch black.

I was impressed with the episode, relatively speaking. Some quality issues with camera and cutscenes that make a ten year old game less immersion breaking than a Cryptic MMO. But we learn to overlook the obvious flaws like a character loading before the head and hair.
The better that this game gets, the more nostalgia I feel for playing the single player of Elite Force 1. Some great artwork and clunky mechanics of cutscenes and transitions. Still, a fun time for nostalgia. I feel like it's doing the best it can do, despite the things that are hard to overlook like a weird loading screen.
Granted, I run the game on a rather old and clunky pc. Still, sometimes it's like watching the flaws of the engine, not the home runs.
His face is what stood out to me. Kind of looked like his Undine didn't know how to impersonate a face that wasn't hideous
I know they have to push the sliders a bit when making distinctive faces, but Dr. Cooper looked to me like his mouth should've been moved up a tad so he looked more ... human.
Take a look at my Foundry missions! Conjoined, Re-emergence, and . . .

That was a great episode. Nice light effects, nice riddles, lots of accolades, different paths, Undines showing you don't mess with them.
Really, my only regret is you don't get an accolade when the Undine is revealed for choosing the "are you a spy, Cooper?" options before the space walk, like a "Told you!", "My Undine-sense WAS tingling!", "Undine detector", or something similar.
On 3rd play through, that side opened. Dunno what I did differrent if anything.
There seems to be a lot of differences as you go through this thing. Two times I've been greeted by the abandoned mech, and 1 time by the assassin, then the suits are different of course, and now the hallways are different.
I played it a second time this evening (and got about 2/3 of the way through before the server crash), and it played out quite differently for me too.
The first time, I had to deal with a cloaked Voth sniper and a room with failing shields, where I had to stand behind consoles to avoid being fried by the sun. The second time, I didn't get either of those things, but I did have to fight off a Voth in a battlesuit instead.
I'm not sure what's triggering these differences in how the mission plays out, but since I was playing with the same toon both times, it definitely isn't your toon's faction or career track. It may be just a random thing. In any case, I now like this mission more than ever because of it. It can apparently be played multiple times and play out differently each time, so it keeps you on your toes and doesn't feel so grindy.
I'm sure SOMEONE mentioned it, but I am too lazy to search and I have to do this mission 4 or 5 more times today but...
Say... isn't that the Captain's Vest variant of the Wrath of Khan Uniform Dr Cooper is wearing?
Can I haz?
Have to go back, but seemed to be the Mercinary outfit.
But what caught my attention more was his headset. It looks to be similar to the cameraman headset we see on the Bridge of the Enterprise-B at the beginning of Generation.
I have a fair share of experiences in the episode and want to relay my comments questions and concerns thus far.
My observations first.
On elite is it easy. Too easy.
The puzzle is not really a puzzle......it is 0 challenge.
The story line is ok. A little too predictable.
Tuvok looks like Tuvok..kudos...nothing like Mr. Scott years ago in some other episode.
The rewards for this are long and drawn out for no real logical reason beyond there is very little to do in the game and this was an attempt to add grindage.
NOONE likes to grind save a few select who, like myself love to craft in eq1 or other games, in a casual MMO.
I DID LOVE the animosity at the end if you chose to take possession of the sphere between the trio. The Romulans have balls to try and claim this sphere too..they are a doomed culture and a defeated enemy fighting amongst themselves and the KDF is a faction of pirates and were only biding their time until they would show their fangs and strike. I BEG YOU DEVS play on this......The Romulans are no friend of the Federation nor are the KDF.
Your ship needs shields to be near the sun.....yet you summon photonic ships and a ship when you have low hp's and they require no shields...I know it is trivial but I like immersion....I picked up on that one almost immediately
The big baddy VOTH, hands down, the most difficult ship to destroy in the game is the victim of a one shot?
The Undine taunt Tuvok? Since when is keeping comm channels open during a fight standard procedure? If Tuvok is in command of the ship why are you flying it? and why the hades is the chief engineer flapping at the gums during the fight? More to the flavor of ST would be comments like Captain..shields are down......damage control.....etc etc...
Overall the score out of 10 for me is a 7.
I am generous because I enjoyed the animosity of the KDF/FED/Rom at the end.........
Today we fight the GAULS......monstrous and HAIRY beyond reason.
If you watch closely, the Voth ship wasn't the target of the Undine blast. The Undine were blasting the hatch open and the Voth just happened to be in the line of fire. This is the same sort of energy blast the Undine used to bust cubes in Scorpion. I wouldn't want to get hit by it... :P
Overall, Tuvok voiceover was nice, the ability to go different paths, too, but its yet another episode without our Boffs and without our ship. More of an interactive cutscene with a few dialogues.
You did see the distance too......well over 10km away.........since the Voth ship was tractoring you it was fairly close and parallel to you...
Yet when the undine come in they are over 14 KM away so I dare say the weapon has a range of beyond 15km.....
I also understand that I nit pick but lets be real here....the door would have taken the brunt of the energy and also the range...yet it was able to one shot the Voth deadnaught who had shields up and weapons primed.......
Voth dreadnaughts have some massive shields and HP........
Yes I am tedious to take to movies because I analyze everything....
Today we fight the GAULS......monstrous and HAIRY beyond reason.
The blast that destroys the voth ship is actually a very powerful concentrated beam from when a couple of undine ships group together and channel their energy beams through a ship that acts as a magnifying glass of sorts.
Although you could argue that there wasn't enough undine ships there to perform the focused beam attack in the first place, I thought it required a minimum amount of certain vessels.
Wow- - awesome job on the new episode. I'm definitely going to repeat the mission for the Dyson set, and may do more than a few toons for the full ship. Although knowing I can buy a better version later on, I may just wait on earning a ship for each toon.
First - the quality of the atmosphere, the writing and staging was way above par for what we've seen in the past. The level of finish and polish was excellent.
The flying suits took more than a little effort for me to use. Personally I disliked the Risa ship, so I never worked out how to fly the damned jet-packs, so this mission was more difficult than I expected. Patience one out - and if I had any advice for those who have trouble - slow the Frack down.
The 'surprise' villains at the end - very cool and a nice tie-in. Can't wait to see how this will build.
Now as to the ship.
I went from moments of holy-TRIBBLE to WTF? There were simply too many things to try and too little time to wrap my noggin around what to use that gameplay was difficult. When I started randomly clicking things, the battle finally started to turn my way.
What the experience left me with was the urge to do it again immediately. The SCI destroyer - while I doubt it will ever by a DPS monster, it will be a fun ship to play.
Have to go back, but seemed to be the Mercinary outfit.

I loved this and the Obelisk one, when i first got control of the Obelisk I got all giddy after realising it had amazing modules and was essentially a giant win button.

Yes, there's one that can be bought with dilithium and fleet credit from a T3 spire your fleet owns, or that you're invited to.
I'm pretty sure that is what the Dyson's crew were wearing.

I was just surprised to see a "Dr. Richard Cooper". I thought he got squished by a big rock in "Sphere of Influence"?
Lol, maybe he did, and Tuvok never thought to ask 'Cooper' how he got out.
