a few people has said this box is meh in the blog thread, and i think i see why. this box seems VERY pvp reliant. is this and the official 'pvp is on the schedual ' our reward for keeping the faith all this time?

Well on the plues side if the Pve kids have little interest... it means we shouldn't have to deal with as much price fixing... scratch that... if they aren't opening these boxes its going to be easier to price fix. lol
We'll have to see either this stuff will stay low enough that anyone wants can get it with out anything to crazy... or the rarity of the ships will lead to 400mil bulwark style pricing on the ship.

Well foundry is behind it on priority, the shuttle cross faction arena is probably a testing ground before ships get it

the bulwark makes me lol. its a plus 1 ody, and to do what you do with ships like that, you dont even need a fleet level ship, as much as you do with fragile damage dealers. well, it might be that people want BC on their palisade.

Yep that is all it is... I don't think the PvE players could care less about the bulwark... and the PvP players that have one in most cases haven't even flown it. lol Take the console off forget about.
I mentioned it because I think the new escort may end up the same way... PvE and PvP people barely flying it... but the poor PvP guys that want to buy it to pull the console off. Might be funny.
They haven't even mentioned the Hirogen doff bonuses. Who knows, the next Marion could be in there.
this is what im most excited to find out about, them doffs. excitement may change to horror very quickly though

i donno, i just have a bad creep feeling with these for some reason
That lure console - given that it seems to act like a mine, and resets all boff cooldowns - could give some weird issues with balance. It'll be lethal in Kerrat.
I don't like the Torp trait either. EBC T'varos are going to be even tougher to catch.
I hope the doffs aren't going to be too horrible.....
When I read that article, first thing that came to mine was:
"Well.. what do you know.. a PVP lockbox.."
Almost everything in there just screams power creep for a "Wallet Warrior".
One thing I found EXTREMELY interesting was:
The Long-Range Destabilized Tetryon Heavy Cannon is a single cannon with a 180-degree firing arc. Unlike a standard single cannon, this heavy variant fires half as rapidly with much heavier damage inflicted per pulse. This weapon?s special energy discharge capacitors allow it to fire on targets up to 12.0km away and never suffers a drop-off in damage output as a result of range.
First weapon to actually have a longer useful range then beams.. And Its a CAnnon, so it can be rapid fired and spread more then likely. Though I guess if it were possible to use more then just the one, it might really be crazy.
Add in also the Sniper shot power you can also use at 12.0km when using the 3 peice Lobi set bonus how ever..
All of this just makes me ask, one again, why bother flying anything but a Tac officer any more?
You think that your beta test was bad?
Think about this: American Football has been in open beta for 144 years. ~Kotaku
How about saving the speculation about what's useful, what's op'd, and what's useless until we've actually had a chance to use it? There's potential in everything to be useful in both pve and pvp, provided you take the time to actually look for it and are willing to put aside this mindset of "if it doesn't increase dps, I don't want it". Personally, I find the long range weapons rather appealing, but we'll see how it really works in a combat scenario. Although I am seeing potential for carriers to gain a bit more tactical ability and stay a little farther out from the fight, provided they can use them.

Sci is still the king of PvP. We are about to get some even more shiny stuff for them right away. Sci will be even more king of PvP no doubt.
Engi is in a good place as well... but not for running out and doing dmg in pugs.
I would say any premade team right now is pretty much going to want one good engi around in preferably a cruiser with a traited engi fleet to combat FAW+DEM / GW / Grav Torp spread dmg that is all over the place lately. One engi fleet will keep a team alive though that sci overload spamslaught that is pretty much the start of every match these days.
Instead of a standard cooldown, this Console automatically regains one charge every 60 seconds, and can store a maximum of 3 charges.
**As an added bonus not usually seen on Lock Box Ship consoles, the Enhanced Inertial Damper Field console can be equipped on any Escort, Raptor or Raider, in addition to fitting on any Hirogen vessel.
Bonus! Equipping both of the Hirogen consoles will increase the bonuses received when initiating the sudden reversal maneuver allowed by the Enhanced Inertial Damper Field. Bonuses to damage output and defense will both double in intensity with both systems installed.
Your torpedo hits have a chance to render your target Confused for a short duration.
Could we please get a S1.2 queue? Or Geko's resignation? Something that actually benefits PVP and doesn't add more and more stupid powers just to fill Cryptic's wallet?
I am... confused by this lockbox. Besides the Trash Hauler Space Vessels, I am not exactly sure why it seemed a good idea. Most of the stuff seems to either break more balance rules or add more placate, confuses and/or visual spam. I predict the game engine will be in for some rough weather, if people add more fancy visual attacks to an already high-spam field of play.

This could be annoying, goodbye traditional dogfights.
It doesn't say it will break gravity well or tractor beams.
In the immortal words of Captain Sisko: "It may not be what you believe, but that doesn't make it wrong."
Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.
Hirogen technology frequently focuses on trapping and defeating their prey. But sometimes, in order to do so, one must take the risk of using your own ship as the bait. The Alpha Deception Field universal console (the ?salvaged console? for this lock box) takes this philosophy to the extreme, creating a clever ruse out of a series of holographic generators and well-placed detonations. Activating this complicated set of subsystems causes your ship to appear to explode, leaving behind valuable salvage. In actuality, the salvage is a powerful trap that will ensnare enemies that stray too close, while simultaneously emitting a powerful sensor mask on its owner. Any enemy that attempts to retrieve the salvage will find their ship disabled and damaged, while the owner of the Lure will benefit from ambush bonuses and a complete reset of the cooldown on all bridge officer abilities. These cunning subsystems are all self-contained to the console?s programming, and can thus be fitted on any starship.
Hey. Just vaped Janeway, lets reset and vape Picard
Lol. catch a whole fedball with gravimetric torp spread 3, grav well + aftershock, viral matrix + spread, scramble, .... and do it again after 3 seconds...
Finally a reason to dust off my fleet armitage! Scramble torps for everyone! SNB plus your wingmans cloaked sniper shot. Neato! Enhanced dogfighting console to spice up the escort corkscrew spiral match. New tetryon weapons (oh thank God).
Seriously, it is like cryptic built a lockbox right out of my brain. I think that situationally, this box will give a lot of spice to tactics and strategies. Presuming After the balance passes and OP stuff (which always happens) gets toned down.
I just want to know what on Earth made Cryptic think that what we needed were more placates/confuses/placate-confuses. It's already impossible to target some players for more than a second or two.

Adding all those new ways to confuse or placate someone is just about enough to negate any positive points Cryptic earned when Geko said they were redirecting resources to PvP, finally. There's already enough of them out there to make fighting placate/confuse heavy builds extremely frustrating. This will just exacerbate the situation. Maybe more than I am willing to deal with, but we'll see after we test it all I suppose.
HHHHMMMMmmmm......looks like season 8.5 hirogen lockboxes is gonna be ALL TACTICAL,,,,yes!! yes!! yes!! yes!! yes!!,,,,hey wait a minute, is Daniel Bryan here?
