So yeah, you're right ARC is using absolutely no resources what so ever

LOL then your computer is messed up as ARC doesn't use that much.

So...to get a shiny, I have to download arc?

Thats akin to walking through a contagious diseases ward just to get to the only candy machine in the hospital!

Sorry, I can live without a shiny - My computer is far more valuable to me and putting some bloated, useless, nagging, forced advertisment pushing spyware like arc will not do it any good

I play sto, nothing else intrests me so why should I have to download a bloated gateway program designed to push stuff I do not want into my face?

I'd rather be made to use arc by force than bow to a carrot - as the majority of us know will eventually be the result - its one thing to die by the sword - its another entirely to gleefully impale oneself upon it

    BRANFLAAAAAAKES!

...Actually, I was pretty ambivalent about ARC before (I didn't see the point in having a PWE-only Steam-clone when I already run Steam), but if it comes with extra freebies...

If it comes with freebies, yeah... I'll still say NO.

They say every man has his price.

Mine is a free lifetime sub, a Zen refund on all I have spent on the game so far, 50,000 zen on top, and the gift of all current C-Store items. Oh, and a 10,000 lobi gift box too.

In short, I don't want Arc. I would have gladly paid for 550 zen to get the uniform rather than install Arc, but hey, if PWE wants to lose out on my 5 bucks, that's their loss.
    "So my fun is wrong?"

No. Your fun makes everyone else's fun wrong by default.

The only bloatware is what you think. ARC is not bloatware. If you want bloatware go install Steam.

"Bloatware" is a piece of software that is not needed. Which sums up arc perfectly.

It's rather fitting that Arc is rewarding a Villain's uniform.

... that lures you into a trap of assuming one thing, and getting another...

    Nice comparison.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

I agree as far as I can tell. I am by no means a computer expert but when Arc is running i see no difference in how my computer works, either visually, or by looking the the CPU usage.

My web browser takes up more usage than Arc does.

To me this seems like an undercover blackmail, do you want this uniform, you must download this thing.

And so what if it is? I've done far more in STO for costume sets no where near as pimping. If all you do is simply install->unlock->uninstall, this is a pretty sweat deal but even if you decide to keep arc (it does look pretty nice now after all) this definite reward still outweighs whatever insubstantial cost associated with having another process running in the background.

Hmmmm nup, still not interested in installing Arc. Steam is the only platform i'll ever install and frankly, 1 is enough, I'm getting fed up with every company out there trying to add more and more to their software, especially when there isn't an option to either remove it or just not install it in the first place. For me, its all about efficiency! :)

Mobile apps are becoming just as bad

    Oh..................my..................god.

I have seen PW pull off some low stunts with nerfing, and broken promises, but this, THIS, not only does PW take the cake with this, they also went out and brought the ingredients, mixed them and baked it.

This is lower then the famous " $80 Monocle. " <--- ( coming soon to STO!!! :D )

    No. Way.

PW baking the cake? why do that when you have minions to do such menial work? :p

it would have given far better metrics if they had that as an option as well, so how far people will go to avoid ARC

I got an old wiped hard drive and installed a fresh WinXP on it, on a separate machine, got costume and unplugged the drive which is sitting in a draw now with a warning label on it. That's how much I don't want ARC.

Uhh, just add the game client (wherever it is installed) to Arc's library. Worked like a charm for me - assuming you have STO installed on the secondary.

Okay, maybe not. I don't know what it was, but I found a residual Arc process running around (started by the system itself) and killed it. What is the software world coming to when you can't even properly get rid of software developed by legitimate companies anymore...

I was wrong. First off, logging into an Andorian male after uninstalling displayed no mail (odd, as I usually get mail across all characters simultaneously) and no outfit.

Second, the process I noticed was in fact from a completely different piece of software, and simply had the name "Arc" in it. That one was my mistake.

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.p3OEBPD6HU3QI.jpg

Hmmmm, thats a really good idea. I have STO on an old laptop...I don't care if ARC is on that thing....

Well, im not sure about it, but personally, i did instal ARC... then uninstalled it.
(Unlocked the Uniforms too of course.... but its off-duty outfit, why they call it uniforms?)

The STO is running perfectly good with its own launcher, don't need any add-ons.

Now, when i read the posts... well im running adaware and other like programs
through my computer - toogether with other utilities it should keep my PC safe

    I hope...

Ugh. Arc. Such a pain. The outfit should up with a "I installed arc on my machine and all I got was this stupid T shirt" title along with it.

Yeah, until Bran gets this "account unlock" thing straightened out with the devs for us, the only way to unlock it is to log in on each character while Arc is running. I did that last night. Fortunately, you keep the costume even after uninstalling Arc.

You need to go to Head, then there is a drop down on the top right.

Thanks for the info; too bad the dev's didn't have the sense to put it under UNIFORMS, since it's not a HEAD...

It's weird. You have to go to your second (or third, if you're in a fleet) uniform slot, then click on either Modify or Create (depending on whether or not you've made a uniform in that slot yet). Select the "Head" tab, of all things; in the upper right corner of that section, you'll see a drop-down menu selector that defaults to "Uniform". Select "Off-Duty" from that, and then the Off-Duty selections will be available under the "Uniform" tab.

Edit: Ninja'd. Curse my urge to deliver complete information!

Did you try to modify your first outfit? - i maybe in error, but i think the first one is always uniform, only the next can be modify to off-duty or official....
