You aren't alone. I am fine with the Q minigame. It's not too difficult and it's extremely fast, once you get in a groove.
Meh, I think the two-game system right now is pretty badly structured. The chase takes a couple of seconds, while the shell game drags on and on simply because at no point do you actually have to watch the boxes (just peak or wait for the last few turns to catch the last tell or two, keeping track from the beginning counts for nothing).
So every time you talk to a little Q you run the gambit of "do I get the good min-game or not?" whose payoff is simply a less tedious grind but whose payment is repeated disappointment after repeated disappointment as you hit festive speedbump after festive speedbumb. Stretch this over multiple characters, each having to fight for their turn at playing bad content, and however short this all takes compared to say, grinding Rep, Dilithium, or fleet marks it's FAR more agitating. AND it's the only way to pick up a fully kitted Dyson ship (C-store version plus necessary warp core) so if you want the full experience on any of those in future it's all but compulsory to put up with this.
All in all, its stupid. No sense of payoff, no sense of accomplishment, its just pointless tedium strung out like a virgin sacrifice at the bloody altar of Cryptic. The most you can look forward to is for it to simply end.
Happy 4th anniversary!

I mean, it's a cool ship and all, but is it worth 2 weeks of doing the same goofy almost-game over and over? You know they're gonna make a C-store version which is numerically superior, so if you actually WANT that kind of ship and plan to fly it, why wouldn't you just buy the better one instead? And if you don't plan to fly it, why bother having one?

I imagine obsessive set collectors are only interested in the warp core that comes with it, not the ship itself.
Not grinding for what should be free after only 1 run through the mission (how it was until now). Also there is absolutely no sense in grinding for a 9 console ship, not 1 month after grinding for a 10 console ship.
The whole set up is ludicrous and insulting, especially since they advertised that they were listening just to completely ignore us.
I like the mission a lot and I think the ships themselves have some neat mechanics and interesting appearances. That said, this is the first freebie in two years I'm NOT getting for all of my characters, only the science ones. I do like it, but the grind-plus-pay thing (I'm guessing a manager's dumb idea) has unfortunately added a sour note to an otherwise nice release.
I find 5 minutes a day rather fun. breaks up the monotony of RL in my day. And no I'm not going to fly this ship or the c-store ones, I have to finish getting my Aventine and DS9 pack first. THEN we'll see.
The only thing that i don't like is the daily timer on the mini q stuff >.>

The 8.5 update to me seems like things they wanted to through in with the original season 8 update but they didn't have the time and/or resources to do so.
Yeah, I could probably live without the Sci Destroyer. They're ugly as sin and I probably won't even unpack it when I get it. But, it's something to do. And, it's one of those things that maybe someday I'll change my mind on. So, best get it now and not kick myself later, even if it does just take up a bank slot.

I'll be perfectly honest, at first, during the mission, I thought that it could be worth something. But its really not all it was hyped up to be. The transformation is really lazy and unimpressive, it has such a weak hull that I can't imagine using it in a real fight, the proton cannon doesn't seem to do much of anything, and the whole bridge station switch is a joke. I took it for a test run using all the items I use on my primary ship, and I didn't do jack to anything. What we really need are some new tactical and science abilities to use with it, because, to be honest, I don't want to have to resort to gravity well and attack pattern omega for everything. I might as well grab up a Nebula class and use that, at least it can take the hits.
So it's not just me, then. I'm feeling a bit irritated at STO in general now that they've "fixed" (made completely worthless) the omega torpedo launcher.

This. The ship is weak as heck compared to pretty much everything else out there. I had lots of lobi so i got it fast, outfitted it with ubergear that buffed everything it had and went to work.
It was so meh I am having major buyers regret with my LOBI... i mean I knew the ship wasn't going to be the end all be all but I thought it might be worth something with it's gimmick... lol nope, without its gimmick its just a bad ship. With it, its a bad ship with a gimmick.
if you really really really want a science ship its ok. Not good. Certainly not great. Just ok.
None of my characters have any use for these ships. I still might get it for my one Science Captain, though. That secondary deflector looks nice for later use on my Vesta.

I really hate the new grinding especially since it's about 2 weeks after the Holliday grind.
But if you really want to get the full potential out of the cstore version you need the anniversary version too. Which kind if... Lame... After all that cstore version is 50 bugs, which is what we usually pay for an ENTIRE GAME.
The only reason i find the ship intriguing is the four tac, four sci console slot layout. Being one of the original Scimitar owners, i'm somewhat accustomed to ships behaving badly at first till the right types of builds are found, so this ship is nothing different. As presented in the FE, it is perhaps a science ship ( i'm a tac pilot so i wouldnt know ) but it seemed excruciatingly weak and was very difficult to manage in combat. I think, like the Risan Corvette, the free one will make a nice toy, but in combat, i think even a corvette can outperform it. I know mine can.. To be honest though, if it wasnt for this curiosity to just tinker a bit, the ship wouldnt be worth the time to even read the blog about it.
The ships are nice and this sci/escort hybrid thing will be fun to play with. Nobody forces you guys to participate but if you dont please dont make a huge cry for something else out of it which is senseless anyways as you well know.
And all this crying about having to play this stupid Q game 25 tines well yes its stupid but just buckle up and do it or leave it.
I'm only getting it on 3 of my charactrers. I just don't get what all the fuss is. I think they are outstanding ships.

It doesn't really interest me either. I'm getting the 400 quemendations, then I'll save them up for 2015 or 2016. The 2014 rewards don't interest me in the slightest.
So it's not just me then. I also am under the impression that this ship is weak. The cannons on it are a joke and have no oomph at all and it dies fast too...
Tyr shall give me strength! For the glory of Tempus! I am the hands of Shar! Flames of Kossuth, protect me! Oghma, grant me knowledge! Lolth commands, and I obey!
So is the free stuff giveaway done now then? I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't want to sound entitled or anything but is that all we're getting? A KDF ship, a Fed ship, a Horta, a uniform and a stupid grind for a future c-store ship? Is it done or will there be more?

I'm not THAT difficult to please, I just have a very low tolerance threshold for stupid BS! - George Carlin.
If everyone said stuff the grind - it would not happen again, alas, people are doing it, so Cryptic will feel justified next year to do it again to us as people are doing it this year
Eh, I'm not sure yet. The first time I flew it during the FE I was all "OHHHH SHINY" but then after a few times I wasn't as impressed. I realized that what I want is a science ship and not a science destroyer. I'd never use the tactical mode, so that pretty much guts the ship for me right there.
I also don't get the permanent protonic DHCs. It's like Cryptic is trying to put protonic weapons into the game without really putting protonic weapons into the game. No energy specific consoles for it and no other protonic DHCs/turrets so I can't match weapons types on it. That's another reason for not wanting to use the tac mode. "Have a 4 slot destroyer mode that you can't actually choose what's in the 4th slot!"
So in the end it's like a gimp tac ship with a sort-of-maybe-kinda science focus. I'll probably finish getting the free one once to give it a fair shakedown, but I suspect it isn't what I'm looking for.
Ship ain't half bad. I would like it to have a more sci heavy boff layout. Hopfully the cstore version will have anothe sci or a uni boff slot.
Had some extra lobi that i was never probably never going to use anyway so i used it to get the ship.
The grind is not all bad, it's quick and easy, but, several times I had people trying to distract me by standing within the boxes and dancing and doing other things will the little Q was hiding in the boxes
Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.
I hadn't done it yet. For one it don't interest me and I will do the new mission when I get to it. That way it will be in order. I have no Sci captains to make any use of it properly. That is why I'm not really wanting it. Next the event don't allow the weekend only players a chance to get it. So that already knocked me out of it.

If you log in on a regular basis anyways, it's free as opposed to 2500 Zen for the c-store one. So you can try it out, compare and see if you like the hybrid concept and it's implementation.
Also the secondary deflector and the singularity/warp core are exclusive to the anniversary ship. If you want the 4-pc set-bonus for your c-store ship (deflector) and/or the 4-pc set-bonus for the Solanea set from the episode (warp core), you need the anniversary version.
Last but not least there are the collectors. I know people who simply want to collect every available ship, which would inlcude all 4 versions of the Dyson destroyer.

sounds about right, im only getting it on my romulan
