I am now getting login to the server has timed out when changing toons and sto is the only game that has this problem on my system atm
edit : my brother just tried to login on my system and he does not have a problem changing toons etc but I do , is this another issue with the login servers ?
TOS, TAS, TNG, VOY, ENT all have something in common that's lacking with DS9.
It's like folks over in Star Wars land being fans of 4-6, but not 1-3. As bad as 1-3 were, they were still Star Wars.
Heck, even Lens Flare and Blinded By Lens Flare still share commonalities with TOS, TAS, TNG, VOY, ENT, and the other ST Films.
In a superficial way, sure. Until DS9's 3rd season anyway. But honestly I feel Lens Flare and Blinded By Lens Flare is the most un-Trek-like thing to ever try to call itself Trek.
Mmm...when my kdf char went to DS9 and going to change to fed char, the server login kicked me out, i can login again, but the characters section take a long time to load, till times out...Is DS9 base getting problems...too much tribbles?
I guess i go eat something to make me fat, and login later...lol.

I've been getting hammered (DC'd out the wahzoo) on Qo'noS...even the forums are beginning to drag. Can pop open YouTube and stream silly cat videos without issue...
I am now getting timed out when changing toons , asked my brother to try his account on my system and he has no probems but I still do . just now I cannot login at all so whats happening when I cannot but my brother can on the same system ?
I'm getting issues logging in here as well from the UK. Though it is intermittent, it is still affecting me. When the issue strikes, I can sometimes log in after closing the client down completely and restarting
I too just had this happen, and it has been happening at least once a week for the past month.
Shutting down my pc and rebooting my modem/router (off for at least a couple minutes) has worked each time.
I am playing online now and have switched characters (including to a Klingon) and all seems well.
Could it be some TRIBBLE getting left/built up in the modem/routers memory in relation to STO? And causing this problem between the modem/router and the game server, or between it and the pc?
Like another poster mentioned only seems to affect this game...
I'm inclined to say this is a non-topic, as I've been able to log in just fine (and yes, 1 person being able to log in means the servers aren't down).
Having said that, I *did* notice some map-weirdness earlier today (Bof telling me there's no longer anything on sensors, in the middle of the Sphere), and some unusual rubberbanding. So, wouldn't surprise me if they experienced some stealth network outage, after all.
Try shutting the game down and restarting. It's been a problem that has been ongoing now for the last few hours. You may need to do this every time you want to switch to a different toon.
i logged in earlier to do the pve races for pic for next year on multiple toons.. just in case. anyways, had no problems logging in or out or changing alts.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
I tried logging in and it timed me out so I just logged in a second time and was fine. I am guessing the snow over in America must be causing a few communications issues here then so a little persistence is required.

It seems that cogentco are messing around again, in Boston this time. The big issue though is on hop #7 where it just times out and hops 9, 10, 11, 15 , 16 and 17 where it's partially starred out.
There's also a relatively large latency spike from cogentco from Boston though.
Weird that the route is being sent via paris. Iirc, it normally goes from the UK straight to the US rather than going via France.

I think what ever crashed the server had an effect on the login servers which needs to be fixed.

Just had a time out while switching characters. Re-logged in and all seems well....

Perhaps they can't login to answer.
It is difficult to answer, when one does not understand the question.

Still waiting to be able to use forum titles

ETA: Yeah, whatever it was, it's apparently fixed now. I have no trouble switching characters.
