I will say this. The new Dyson Ship (the romulan one) looks AWESOME. I cant wait to get one. It will be my fleet's flagship. Its too cool looking not to be.

I finally got off my butt and rolled a Romulan Science just for that. I like how they seem to be getting away from the super fat central hulls and going back toward the DD aesthetic as well.

I agree. The DDness is a goid direction. I am going to give the ship to my tom/tac. I have been thinking of rolling a new rom/sci though.... Im about dps so i think a rom/tac will be better. What i REALLY want to know is the energy type of the fixed cannons. Are they proton? (i hope not) are they polaron? What are they?! Im looking forward to learning everything. Either way, this will become my main ship i think.

Thirded, the Ha'Feh and Ha'nom look kinda plain in comparison to all the negative space ships.

Maybe they'll follow suit with the hybrid system and make a battlecruiser/carrier cross. Battlecruiser has a engineer leaning with a battlecloak, and the carrier has a science leaning with hangar bays and disabled cloak.

    It'd be different at least.

My most observed tng Romulan ideal has always been sneak sneak spy then decloak with huge vessel and ask what someone is doing. Therefore the the flagship should be a bit larger than the scim. And look at other flagships oddy is bigger than galaxy. Bort is bigger than neg. The trend right now is flagships getting bigger. look at ent-j. 2 miles!! And do you think the kdf and roms would sit by while that bucket of weapons could fly wherever they want and swat there ships like bugs? I bet in that time period romulans would have ships 4 miles long. id want a rom flag ship of about 3500 crew 2 hangers 5 for 2 aft.

    MOAR BIG!!!

    MOAR BIG!!!

.........Sounds like you want a big green cloaking super star destroyer.....

    which will be complained about....

...then people will call it OP....

...then people will want it nerfed.....

"X is OP, please nerf" .' jokes will ensue....

Then the feds will get a copy or a better ship so they will shut up.

The the KDF will get a carbon copy of what the Feds get, only with a cloak.

    Roms will complain again.....

    Ad nauseam

I vote for the Aves class to be written in as the new flag ship.....

They're Proton. A little reading goes a long way. It's all in the blogs, which have been posted for a few days now.

Well yeah, so far that sounds like a more forward heavy JHDC.

Anyway, proton might not be so bad, and might go well thematically with a Rom/Sci. You could get the full Dyson weapon set and have grav wells galore. The buff stripping + CSV would leave even the NPCs with EPTE stuck in it, and tac consoles would be cheap since you could stick some autotargeting modules on.

um, you do know the only reason why the ent-j was so big was becasue it had a city inside it? it was designed to hold a lot of civilians, like the SDF-1 ended up holding a city inside it. the romulans wouldn't stick their civilians on a massive ship like that, so they wouldnt have a big assed ship, no they would just make smaller ships that had a metric ****-ton of weapons on it hat could hold its own against the massive ship.

Wasn't it designed by the Romulans before clonepicard took over and used it as his flagship? Or am I wrong....

...Either way, it IS butt ugly. Rommie designs should look elegant and imperial!

I'd say the second one :P

The scimitar was Shinzon's baby (ouch!). It wasn't designed by the Romulan government. It was designed by Romulan rebels to overthrow the Senate and destroy Earth using technology forbidden by treaty.

So it's Romulan in that it was designed by Romulans and / or Remans. But it's not Romulan in the sense of being an official design.

    Agree 1000%.

I think it was meant to be butt ugly and the designers hit the mark. It's a villainous vessel after all.

But the D'deridex and the T'varo are both as sleek and sexy as sin. Whatever else you could say about the Romulans (eg. those green-blooded back-stabbing TRIBBLE) they employ serious style in their ship designs.

Except of course that you're wrong :P

"Romulan" doesn't just refer to a species. "Romulans" in STO refers to a faction, which includes Remans. That's the (entirely proper) sense in which twoblindmonks used it and I responded accordingly.

The bit where I specifically referred to Romulans / Remans as designers of the vessel should have clued you into that. But you missed it. Oh well....

    Sir.

A simple misunderstanding does not merit your sarcasm nor your condescending tone.

You could of simply said in saying "Romulan" you meant the faction not the race. In hindsight, perhaps you should of said "Romulan Republic" to prevent this misunderstanding. Semantics i know but youre the one being rude.

    Hello!
So, this is my first post in the forums, so I am a noob. However, I also would like a proper Romulan flagship that looks Romulan and everything everyone said they wanted in the posts above mine. So I found an old photo on my PC of a Romulan vessel, that I think it would be perfect as a Romulan Republic Flagship.
I must state I did not create the Romulan ship nor the other 2 ships that you will recognise in the photo. What I did, I tried to create some stats for this "new flagship".

I would have not bothered with this subject especially now before the Delta Rising release and the tier 6 ships that come with it. However, after seeing the stats on the ships, I realised Cryptic or Arc or whoever makes this game will again do to this ships what they did with the flagships, that being Fed and Kdf similar cruisers and the Rom ship different. I stated that I wouldn't have bothered because I was going to buy the Eclipse for my main Fed, the Qib for my Kdf and the Faeht for my Rom. I should mention that I don't care much about the design of the ships, whether they are pretty or anything else. I just wanted similar ships for all my 3 characters. I know, some of you will say that they are still balancing the stats and these stats will change. Maybe. But for me is clear that the Faeht will be similar to the tier 6 Fed escort.

So, I decided not to go tier 6. But then, what is left? My flagships. I have the Ody and the Borty. I don't own the Scimitar. While an excellent ship nonetheless, it's not for me, I don't like it just because it is not similar to the other 2.

I really don't want to upset anyone, this is just my opinion. So, I am left with only 2 choices. Either do something, talk to you, the community, share my thoughts, and maybe just maybe someone from the guys who design the game will listen or stop playing.

I hope the picture will upload.

Since you're a newb I will let you know right now it's against the rules to post in a thread that is more than a month old.

Second, if you don't know...Cryptic doesn't really use player designed models...they have only used 2 player designed models and that was from a contest 3 years ago.

Third, Romulan Cruisers don't get Cruiser Commands.

and Fourth, the stats are kinda questionable...it should be a little weaker shield and hull wise...plus only standard Romulan battle cloak.
