Most escorts? I fly a Fleet K't'inga too and I've got to ask...which most escorts are you talking about?
Because (not counting Lockboxes) I can find precisely TWO Fleet-level escortish ships with more hull on the Fed side: The Fleet Heavy Escort Carrier and the Fleet Chimera.
Also you do realize the K't'inga does have better shields than those escorts right?
And even if I assume you're talking Fleet Raptors: those suffer in terms of shields for their bit more hull compared to their Fed countertparts.
Raptors = escorts. The free Tier4 mirror Qin has 33k hull. I had to pay 4 damned fleet modules for a CHAR-unlock, not even an account-unlock, and it only has 34K hull. The Non-retro version only has 31k!
The Fleet K'Tinga is a Vorcha Retrofit in all ways except hull rating. There's no reason for it. The fleet k'tinga has only 31K hull!! If they just wanted to make it a reskin I'd be FINE with that, but there's no reason to gimp it like they did. Look at the equally old Karamag which has 38K hull, almost as much as a fleet tork, and much more than a vorcha retro.
As for the age of it, you're not quite right there, either. The general design was so good it was used -- the GENERAL design -- and upgraded to remain lethal and modern for a very long time. At the time of DS9 (30 years back, according to the DS9 missions in STO) they were still seen alongside Vor'chas in frontline combat.
So it's only a 30 year old ship. meanwhile, we have ambassador class Enterprise-Cs that are at least 50 years old in design, and they are a very competitive ship.
The K'Tinga retro and Fleet K'Tinga retro got gimped, badly. Not sure why. There's no reason for it. It is the weakest of ALL battlecruisers, and not befitting a fleet level pricetag. Not to mention there's still NO customization of the ship appearance!

1.) If you mean Raptors write "Raptors" and not "escorts". Or at least write "Klingon escorts".
Otherwise you can just just as well write "small ships" or "tactical ships" or "bagles" and expect everyone to know what's going on.
2.) The Fleet K't'inga has a highest turnrate of all battlecruisers in the game (11), which is science vessel territory.
So of course it suffers a hull penalty compared to the Fleet Vor'cha. What did you expect?
Free turnrate, hull, console AND shield buff?
3.) As for age: how about you actually quote the person who brought that into the thread who was NOT ME.
4.)The Fleet Kamarag has the hull it has, more than the Fleet K't'inga and less the the Fleet Vor'cha, because its turnrate (10.5) is precisely between the 11 of the K't'inga and the 10 of the Fleet Vor'cha.
An increase in turnrate results in a decrease of hull points. Look at the Fleet DDSV and the Fleet RSV and you can see that very clearly.
The decision for me isn't whether or not I will buy it, but what will I name it. Went from the Magrathea (Fleet Tor'Kaht) to the Anathema (Elachi Battleship) and now blessedly back to a Klingon ship.
"I'm not big on telepaths myself. I'm not big on guns either. But if everyone else has them, I want to make sure I can get my hands on the biggest one I can."
Still torn on this one. I have been supporting KDF with various purchases and so considered doing the same this time also. But 2 things are holding me back:
1) Ship is Fugly in my opinion even with customization
2) I don't want to replace my Torkhat ... with Vor'cha skin it is pure awesome-sauce and by far my fav ship (sexy Orion toon included with batteries ).
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Yeah I was torn between getting it and not getting it.
On the one hand it's not what I consider nice looking, it's an avenger clone and it's just not all that spectacular to me.
On the other hand if this doesn't sell we'll we probably won't see another KDF ship for ages, not a ton of KDF cruiser type ships in the store and it's always nice to have a spare ship.
In the end I will get it in the hopes of other ships I want coming out later with this as a show of good faith...don't judge me on that statement though.
I will put it on my to-buy list and get it one day, mostly because the 50 inertia makes 5 forward DHCs feasible. I wont buy it today or next week though, its still mostly redundant to other ships I already own, and there are other toons with empty cells to fill first.

Good point on the inertia. That is about the only negative mark on the Torkhat. I don't even care about the 5th weapon slot as my engineer toon does very well DPS wise with the Torkhat.
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
So overall the KDF reaction seems favorable. I hope this shows that with a good design players will spend on their KDF toons.
The end of the Day can not get here quick enough!!!
I want to see the equivalent of this thread for a new raider or raptor ... or even better ... a Vesta like science vessel. I would be all over that one like a cheap suit.

Well for the latter we have the perfect cadidate:
the Qang class from the Gorkon novel series.

And yeah, I want that fixed...badly but it's a KDF-bug.
Oh don't give me that BS. 1 extra turn rate does NOT an escort make. Until the slight turn boost this last week it's been sluggish just like any other battlecruiser.
And saying the Karamag has more hull because it has .5 less turn rate is BS. False argument. 1 DPS doesn't change anything. You get much more variation from adjusting your engine power settings as little as 10% in-game.
DSSV? RSV? We're not talking fed ships. They're not the same. I was comparing it to escorts and battlecruisers of its own faction. I was comparing apples to apples, and you threw oranges and grapefruits into the mix.
There is no justified reason why this ship, which is the spiritual advancement of the vorcha retro and related to the fleet tork, has less hull BY FAR than both.
And it has no customization. You choose a few pre-made hulls, but you cannot swap out anything. Hull texture doesn't count. Look at the vorcha or most fed ships to see what customization is. This isn't it.
You are right about the LOD bug. Annoying as hell, also!
Yes it is. And it is a fuggin fed cruiser with some scrap metal fried on to it's hull to make it look Klingon.
Why do you say that? Because the Feds got theirs first? Don't let that fool you...the Avenger is really just a KDF battlecruiser that looks Feddy. We just had the Feds beta-test it for us.

No I say this because it has the perfect boff layout... for an aux2battery BFAW spammer. Excellent ship, prolly best layout for pve atm. But, I prefer to use cannons with my Klingon.
I consider myself lucky I couldn't buy it the first time we got to see it. Otherwise I would have wasted 4 perfectly good fsm.

I think it will work fine for a AtB cannon build or just a regular old cannon build.

Most of the super-DPS variants I parse use beam arrays and FAW. On the other hand, the few I see with DHCs do okay but noticably less DPS. I have a tac with beam arrays and faw, and an eng with DHCs and scatter volley, and my tac out DPSes my eng by a long shot, despite my tac not using A2Bat and my eng using A2Bat.
Don't know why, but it really does do better with beams.
Edit: speaking of the avenger, of course.... which is the same thing.
I wonder how well this is selling and if Cryptic is planning another ship. I thought they said there would be 1 more in January. Would be nice to get a teaser?
Branflakes ... you out there somewhere?
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Doesn't seem to be selling that well so far. Normally when a new ship comes out, the dil-to-zen exchange rate adjusts upwards as people trade in their dil to get the new ship. For the Avenger release, the rate jumped from 134 dil per zen to as high as 141. Today though, its been solid at 133 all day.

Could be that KDF just pays in cash. Or, more likely, the smaller player base KDF means a high percentage of players isn't as big as the dent, particularly when weighed against the amount of Dil needed for fleets leveling their Spires.
Wasn't the Avenger released during a lull in the Fleet holdings? There was nothing to push the Dil price the other way when it was released then.

Probably the smaller player base. Still, I was expecting it'd at least move 3, so this lack of movement is suprising. I don't recall anything else particular running when the Avenger released though, but there's always some dil-pit project available for starbases. Plus a lot of current bases, their cosmetic-upgrade slot is the 2013 ornament anyways, so won't be taking dil that way. Just makes one wonder if there are enough Klingon players for the Mogh to be profitable at all, even with maximum market saturation.

LMAO......well I guess I didn't just spend 25 bucks and buy it then. :P Must have been a dream. :P

The problem with the K't'inga is that the high- and low- res skins are reversed.
So the high-detailed ship is only visible at a really long distance.
