My game looks like this (off and on). It's like the map either loads or it doesn't load the textures.

    Smoke: http://starbaseugc.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Purity-VI005.jpg

The generic Cryptic made interior used in Foundryhttp://starbaseugc.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Purity-VI004.jpg

    Space docks:http://starbaseugc.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Purity-VI003.jpg

    Same Earth foundry map:http://starbaseugc.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Purity-VI002.jpg

    A popup: http://starbaseugc.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Purity-VI.jpg

    Post processing is on.

If posting a report, please include:

System and graphic card specs: Windows Vista, Intel Pentium Dual CPU, 1.8 Ghz, 4 gigs ram, ATI Radeon HD 4650, Direct X 9.0

It just happened at random while playing Purity VI. For example, the last and the second to the last map are the exact same map, but the first time looked like screens and the second time did not. Either the map loads and plays fine, or all the textures seem to be missing.

I also experience the crazy, what's the word, "spreading" of sector space like my mouse is applying jam.

Been happening to me since the 21st, as well. And my main gaming computer's GPU doesn't support postprocessing.

It's getting to a point where the game is damned near unplayable in many instances.

I don't know if my desktop's GPU supports postprocessing. But because of it's age, I'm a bit hesitant to download the latest patch onto that machine.

I am having the same issue with the graphics both in space and on away missions. I have a brand new C55-A that does not have any other graphic related issues when playing other games or the Toshiba Media Player or Windows Media Player.

So its obvious that since there is a wide range of GPU's being effected that the problem does not reside with the End User.

Try switching your video card option from DirectX9 to DirectX11 under the video tab in options. This fixed my graphics problems.

My guess is it was introduced when they went live with support for mac, breaking existing windows graphics modes, as I learned that Mac display values are much dimmer and therefore need brighter settings, but windows translates these changes into overbrightness, blinding out some images altogether.

Hm... would that explain why earth and esd look like this during a Foundry mission?

While I noticed a few others had also mentioned this, here is the fix to the weird Season 8 glitch that worked for me:

Options>Video>Video Card>If it says anything other than AUTO(very likely)change to AUTO.>then log completely out of game and sign back in>Fixed. Ingnore restart computer thing, not needed.

    Hope this helps more people.

there seem to be a lot of players effected by these graphics bugs, I had the one where all the textures were missing early on now I seem to get an effect like stop-frame photography where you get multiple overlapping images quite a lot.
lets hope they fix it soon.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Initially tried this myself, before checking the forums, and it didn't work....

Left it on Auto, totally quit out of the game again, checked the forums(this thread), went back in and enabled Post-Processing; problem solved, but I -have- noticed an ever so slight drop-off in performance...not enough to detract from play, mind you.... :)

Not just you. The Graphical & Sound Issues section of the forums, holds two major post-S8 threads on both categories of effects, described here.

Draconian's streaking stars (or stuttering, smearing, duplicating, etc; on object or camera move):
Graphics issues - post S8, 21st Nov patch
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=927251

Crashdragon's smurfs (assuming mention is describing missing body and/or face textures replaced with blue glow):
Missing icons & textures - post S8, launch
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=913941

As already noted, also see the 'postprocessing to on' bandaid suggestion from Cryptic at the top of this page (yellow text); works for some, for others it only provides temp relief if at all.

Like many, I don't have the option to toggle postprocessing. I have discovered however that I only see the error when the screen in not having things actively move around on it. In other words, on New Romulus, I don't have it. In combat I don't have it *provided I have enemies in front of me*. It does happen in sector space regardless. I've also noticed that scanning clears it up for the length of time it takes for the scanner to do it's thing. So I've been using 'V' a lot. I'm not going to adjust setting or anything; I'll wait for PWE to fix the problem.

If posting a report, please include:

    • System and graphic card specs
      Windows 7 home premium 32bit w/service pack 1/AMD Athlon 7550 dual core 2.50ghz processor/3gb ddr3 ram/NVidia GeForce gtx560 1gb gddr5 ram gpu/directx 9,10,11 compatible/all drivers up to date.
    • The map(s) you were on
Any map including log in screen.
    • Reproduction steps
Log into game and either continuously switch maps/characters/and in my case simply hanging out in the sphere ground battlezone for an hour or so and than leave to any other map.
      • Including:
        • How you made it occur
          Listed in reproduction steps.
        • How you made it stop occurring (if you did - make sure to see the yellow text at the top of the forum for a possible workaround)
Found no possible way to stop it from occurring other than to not ever change maps, or shutdown and restart game client.
        • And how you made it occur again
As described in reproduction steps w/o fail.

This thread provides an example on how to provide reproduction steps: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=925341

This would be very helpful. Thanks!

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=

I do think it might have something to do with using alt +tab to view a chat or forum during loading screens, maybe.

Has anyone else experienced constant display adaptor failures and even blue screens of death? I've been experiencing both since the 21st on days when I try to play sto.

This issue where back grounds in character dialog becomes white, item icons vanish from inventory, backgrounds to windows disappear, particle effects distorting, Bloom Effects going bonkers, when can we expect a fix to this? Cause its been around since the release of Season 8 which has been how many weeks so far?

It does happen in sector space regardless
Let me guess: Sirius, Regulus and Alpha sectors?

The postprocessing "fix" does not work either. Im getting pretty tired of this bug.

I really don't know how to overcome this issue...see picture

    http://thhynes.tumblr.com/image/68061865601

This all started with a patch on or about 11-22-2013

as a result I can now ONLY run the game in SAFE mode

    I have updated all DRIVERS
    I have REBOOTED the system
I have uninstalled STO online and ARC 7 times with a complete
    reinstall

I had tried to roll back the computer prior to the LAST patch

    but NOTHING is working

Internet connection is COX home with and up until now I have NEVER had this issue...

Suggestions on how to run the game out of safe mode and get rid of this annyoing issue so I can run the "episodes" would be greatly appreciated

also please note...answers need to be in layman terms because I have read and read and read all these fixes and I not being computer savy I really don't understand .....
