I just don't see what the big want for Fed' Orions are in the first place. There's plenty of races to choose from on both sides. Heck why not merge the KDF faction completely since the war's over anyway (what with all these STFs and joint operations going on)... Besides if we're going off 'canon' I don't remember seeing Orions as anything but their own faction in the shows, giving dances and selling slaves...
The want is a roleplay and ability effect. I can make a green skinned guy/girl and say they are orion and the RP is fine. But without the race name and seduce traits you are still not playing an orion.
How about this a federation 'orion' and a kdf orion meet on Drozana. Any resentment? Any conflict over the different paths taken? No, because as the kdf orion will point out. You are not a real orion. And that is a disparity on a meta level.

I also think eventually doable. Right now liberated borg are limited to lifetime subscribers and the major race of each faction. If they sold the unlocks for other races in the C-store, and then made a lock box event include some refitted borg tech. Then possible. . .

I'm guessing they added the Trill because of the Curzon references. But Ferengi? Can you imagine Ferengi in the Empire? They put them in the Feds just because of Nog and that was stretching it.
Actually we have a few ferengi NPCs homeworld wise, in also in a one of the early missions we get to punch one out. No matter what you Starfleet types get, nothing is cooler than being able to punch out a Ferengi..
