The STO Ship Team shares details about the process behind designing the upcoming Avenger Class Battle Cruiser in this entry of the Legacy of Romulus News Dev Blog series.
I must be blind because unless the torpedo bays are those things left and right of the deflector I can't see it....(including the back of the vessel)....

Seen the images already due to your leaky computer Bran, but it's nice to get a full-size view. And an interesting read to boot. Stats tomorrow, but it's definetly not coming out on Thursday, after the weekly maintainance, right? :P

You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
the last red shirt patch did all the work for this weeks blogs lol. a look at the actual model no picture can match, and all its stats except inertia. thats an impotent bit of information, i dont know why its never documented.
The ship definitely looks like a scrapper, but I do agree with the opinion of other people in that it has a lot of other non-flattering features. That is, of course, a matter of opinion.
What I do particularily like of her are her phaser arrays. They are very well done and I encourage future vessels sporting them in similar detail - I wish we'd get arrays this good on past favorites.
I'm baffled by the statement of torpedo launchers being more proemminous when I see none on all three pictures.
A pet-peeve of mine is that I'm annoyed that the bridge style presented by the Odyssey/Thunderchild is not being more adhered to. In the TOS era, most bridges drew heavily from the Constitution class; same for the TMP-era (Enterprise vs. Reliant). The very same with TNG (Galaxy-class/Nebula-class). There was a certain commonality that, right now, ship artists seem to have a poor time sticking to.
Did i get something wrong or was there a Special Console mentioned in the text? I thought the Cloaking Device would be the universal console... anyways, i'm excited for the tomorrow's Dev Blog that hopefully reveals some stats
Really love the designed Weapon Hardpoints by the way
As I had said in the screenshot thread, this is the reason why the KDF has a lower playerbase. Because devs keep taking ideas from the KDF and not giving anything in return. Until Cryptic gets their head on straight and gives the KDF its long (over 2.5 year) overdue ship overhaul, the game will be "Federation Online: No Klingons Allowed" within the next 4 months.

The cloaking device comes with the tactical escort retrofit and Galaxy-X, but it can be fitted on the battle cruiser.
The Battle Cruiser comes with some sort of NPC console.

It has the ability to equip a cloaking device just like the Gal-X. The special console is the torpedo thing.
very nice job. cant wait to read about that stats. I hope that the ship has different hull, sauser, pillons and nacelle options. I am also hopping for 5 forward weapons and 3 rear to keep up with the scimitar. good work STO cant wait to read the stats on it. the only thing is why do you have to keep me waiting for a awesome ship like this.... teese...
The ideas are nice, but the resulting ship doesn't look good.
Ship appearances are subjective. The things you like others hate and vice-versa. That's why there's so many different styles of everything from cars, to houses, to shoes. One thing is not perfect for everyone. Subjectivity.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Unless I'm mistaken those are *7* visible cannons on the front? That would make it capable of using Dual Beam Banks (2), Turrets/Cannons (+1), Dual Cannons (+2) and Dual Heavy Cannons (+2), no? Would make sense, I guess the turn rate will determine how it is flown.
I'm not a huge fan of the look myself but I would say she doesn't look as bad as the Vengeance and would consider it a insult to compare them!
Removed the hole in the middle, added a few inches all around... It's the Vengance, and a way to silence the people who have been spamming the forums these past few months with "We ignore the licencerights and want the Vengance in STO" posts.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

The Turn Rate is 9, at least so far in testing. I don't know it can use DHC or only DC.

I didn?t know the federation was losing this badly
I win every STF I'm in.

It is one I would get, but it will depend on the Stats really...
I love the Vet Destroyer, and have been playing with it for more than a year now and none of the other ships I have can replace it...
It matches my play style very much.
As for the Avenger, all the talk about the Weapons hardpoints and all that is actually irrelevant really, the system will still have a 4,4 or a 5,3 configuration (or maybe even a 4,3), and no matter how many torpedo bays the model may have if you equip none or only one it will only have that...
What really matters in the end is Turn Rate and BO stations and Console spots..
Since this is a battle Cruiser I am expecting good mixture of tactical/engineering BO distribution, and good tactical/engineering console capabilities.

Anything that can use DC can use DHC, and Quads as well. Turn rate 9? That sounds decent enough, until you throw some Enhanced RCS Mk XIIs on it :P I might end up flying a Escort Cruiser

The specs for the Fleet version can be found HERE.

After looking at it again, despite its name, I am liking it. Honestly, they should have named it the Hood or the Repulse class to really give it that battlecruiser feel.

The ship is just ugly.

All that remains to be seen now is Turn Rate.

They aren't. They just wanted to show they could build a warship that did not fit in one's pocket.
