Pretty sure that's how everyone found this thread.

This species has the most room for growth if they ever commit to it.

    Uhhh.... meow? :3

I do like the cute tuft hair though that the Caitians have. Really adorable on both male and females.

Speaking of hair... what IS the benefit of buying both Caitian and Ferasan? There is said to be some cosmetic unlock for both species?

Ferasans add a few bits to Caitians, like the ability to have a Mohawk, and some other stuff. It's not very elaborate.

Buying Ferasans will unlock Caitian facial patterns and the mohawk hair.

So apparently female Caitians (at least, not sure on males) got not-flat bare feet...without warning and without a way to change it back (because it looks bad because the max foot size is tiny).

Oh, and it only shows up when barefoot, and not in any kind of boot.

Change it back, Cryptic, or give us a way to turn it off. It looks terrible.

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

Except it's a change they should've done when it's 'finished', and not half-assed like they're doing now. It just looks so terrible. And some emote poses are just so bad looking.

Only way I know of is the "beach comber" off-duty outfit which was purchasable in the summer event or for 20-40 million EC on the exchange. If the change only applies to this: meh.

You can also get it from swimsuits. But the only way to wear it off Risa is if that outfit was made before the patch. I just so happen to have such a swimsuit that works off Risa, so I can show you sometime.

You get to use the Ferasan mohawk hairstyle on Caitians (which looks awesome on Caitians, btw, IMHO better than on Ferasans) and you get a few of the unique face patterns exclusive to one species to be shared and used by both if you own both species.

To be honest, I don't think the issue *is* an issue at all for Cryptic. I think none of this has any kind of priority whatsoever. They are probably too busy designing the next lockbox and next grabby-shiney that needs to outperform current T6 ships so people will buy. Fluff like better represetnation of feline people take twelve to twenty backseats, queuing behind federation computers on klingon ships, clipping issues in launch costumes, horrible ship interiors and a lot more.

I asked Taco about it last summer, and he specifically told me it is not even on the To-Do list. Kazon Lockbox is more important.

They can easily monetize a species which has the most expansion for customization. I'm sure we would all drop Zen on custom packs if they made them.

    Then they're idiots.

Like...that's not even an insult, more a statement of fact. Third largest active thread on the Feedback subforum dealing with issues of character appearance. First is the general screenshot thread, second is the general tailor and costume bugs thread.

THIRD IS THE THREAD EXPLICITLY GIVING NEGATIVE FEEDBACK ABOUT SIMPLE CHANGES TO CAITIANS PEOPLE PAID FOR.

The next time someone on the forums gives their melodramatic speech about how Cryptic listens to nothing on the forums....well....yeah. Link them to this thread in the actual subforum for feedback. They don't. They actively avoid it.

Sad truth is that we forumites often mistake large threads for having any meaning whatsoever. I think people that exclusively root for feline characters in star trek are a huge, huge minority, plus they already paid for the content. Look at the original Galaxy thread that was over a year (or two?) old and accumulated several hundred pages of feedback - they simply shut it down without ever commenting in it.

People on the forums are already the vast minority of STO players and certainly the least interesting from an economic standpoint. As a dev/publisher you want the faceless newbies that pick the game up for a week, discover their gear is too weak and they need to upgrade for month OR drop cash and then leave to make room for new newbies who pay. Not even the "whales" seem to be that profitable.
