What other explanation is there? It's not like something in our diet is turning our fur blue.
Actually diet could be a factor, if you are eating a meat with a high but inert cobalt level in it then that could turn you fur blue, and as this is Star Trek where everything is made up, who's to say that isn't the case?
Your team completed the analysis of the genetic samples, turning up several signs that show the Ferasan DNA has been genetically modified. The results indicate that Ferasan Nepeta Leaves were used as a psychotropic trigger during the modification process.
Your crew uncovers records of Caitian diaspora more than 800 years ago, finding evidence of a Ferasan eugenics program that led to a division of the species. Afterwards, the Caitians retreated to a planet outside Ferasan space.
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"

I support this 100%. In fact, I always use the closest to white that we currently have. I would love to go completely white.
And yes, I do use blue eyes, in spite of that signifying the cat carries the genetic defect that leads to deafness.
not always. Only a certain unusual shade of blue is like that. Most blue eyed individuals have normal hearing. Blue is actually a very common eye color, and the majority of cats with it are NOT deaf.

Just because the cat carries the defect does not mean it will develop. It simply means they they do have the defect. If and when it does develop, then it is usually going to be later in life.
Biologists label this gene as "Ww" on their charts. This development does so through gradual degeneration of the inner ear, most specifically the Organ of Corti and the connecting Spiral Ganglion. This process almost always begins during the first weeks after birth, but is typically slow enough that the atrophy is not obvious until years later.
Yes, but how did we see how it went? If it hasn't been resolved and all.
Considering the devs seem scared to even speak of the foundry, and considering the only updates we've gotten is a couple of costumes and the voth npcs, not much is really resolved.

Got link? I'm curious about what you're talking about, since the form of genetic deafness I'm familiar with in cats often shows up as early as kittenhood.
For the sake of not spamming the page, I will just post 3 pages where you can read a bit about this. Here, here, and here.
TLDR version: it's a specific gene causing the white coat that does it, this gene may or may not actually cause the cat to have blue eyes. Non-white cats with blue eyes are fine.
PWE shooting themselves in the foot if that was the case.
Maybe or individual teams hanging themselves if they did, if the company could get away with cutting down on the manpower in development by letting teams share assets I don't see that as a plus for the game.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.

The lore for this was buried in DOff assignments:

Any indications of it doing that are only found in fan stories.

We need manes, M'ress hair, more ear styles, more patterns, and more colors.
The Caitian and Ferasan species have IMo the greatest potential for customization. The array of options they could add is very large.

We asked for NW's foundry tech, we saw how that went.
When? D=

Foundry authors ask for that everyday XD. To add to that, Cryptic said we would be getting it well before we even asked :P.
