But most endgame NPCs are immune to science anyway, seems they really want to kill off pvp, this box has just set the precedent for something in the next box that will make pvp outside tournaments completely impossible and then they will remove pvp maps from private matches so we can't do that anymore, then when nobody pvps anymore they will take the function out of the game, well played Cryptic
they wont remove the private pvp ques.
they have yet to do anything that DIRECTLY involves pvp first and foremost.
what'll have is the ques will somehow get broken for both pve and pvp and theyll only fix the pve ones leaving the pvp ones broken, then another season will go by and theyll remove them claiming that noone uses them.
Sounds like yet another reason to fix the dwindling science skills that still don't do these things even tho their descriptions have said they do since launch, like TR, GW, VM. yep, nothing like making science feel even worse huh there Cryptic?
^^^ you said it. Science has to instead compete for DPS.
i cant wait for the new stuff, universal console ,torpedo and perhaps that bioneural console for my scim aswell, mix that with all superior rom boffs, and elite drone,s(may swap them for viral matrix one's) and i finally have a real killer, my 200 keys will come in handy
Hello STO'ers! Sorry it's taken me 'til past Page 10 to address some of the feedback that's come out so far. But let's get right down to it without further delay...
1) Crescent Disruptor Proc
What the dev blog doesn't tell you is that this proc comes with an inherent immunity period for the target that gets his shields pierced by it. For a short amount of time (I believe it's 5 seconds), no further shield ignore procs are possible on the target, once one shot has gone through.
As for the "portion of damage resistance" that is negated, it's a -50 Resistance Rating. Due to diminishing scales, this has a different end-result depending on what value the target started at. Targets with a high Resistance Rating will be impacted less than those with mid-range or low stats.
2) Subspace Integration Circuit
We didn't do a great job explaining how this power functions, so let me break it down to a mechanical level:
- An untargetable projectile is shot at the target. It tracks - it cannot be escaped.
- Once it impacts the intended target, it erupts into a hazard area that is 3.0k from the impact point in every direction (I think that distance is right - working from memory here)
- While within this hazard zone, your Flight Speed is reduced and your weapons and bridge officer abilities cannot be activated. Your Perception will also be limited to only being able to see your own ship.
- After a short time (6 seconds, I believe), the Rupture closes, dealing a moderate amount of Kinetic damage to anyone within the hazard area. It's about equivalent to a Quantum Torpedo - nothing massive.
Players in PvP that see an enemy using this ability can easily counter it:
- Keep an eye out for the distinctive projectile, and use any Maneuvering Buff while it is inbound (Evasive Maneuvers, AP:Omega, EPtEngines, Subspace Wake, etc). And keep your Throttle high.
- Fly with higher than 25 Engine Power, and invest in Inertial Dampers skill. We made sure, when tuning this power, that even a moderately-geared player can escape the hazard without a monumental effort, before it implodes.
3) New Traits
Keep in mind that all players only have a maximum of 9 Trait Slots. Sacrificing one of those slots for the boosts that can be obtained from these new unique Traits is a big give-and-take. Generally speaking, we try to make all of the new Traits we introduce just as effective as those you can gain by choosing a specific profession or species.
A few quick points:
The +25% Healing from Regenerative Tissue will not increase your average heal by exactly 25%. Much like Tactical damage consoles, this is a modifier that's applied to the 'base' value of your heal, and does not amplify the innate bonuses that players get for leveling up, or those applied by skills like Medic. It is a boost, just not quite as big as it sounds. And the more invested your player already is at amplifying their Healing potency, the less effect will be seen by this Trait.
Doubling the Rank Up rate of Hangar Pets may sound impressive, but Carrier captains will still have to contend with keeping their pets alive to reach the Rank 5 mark. Also keep in mind that the difference in performance between Rank 1 and Rank 5 is really rather small. The main benefit this will grant to Carriers is that the auto-heal that takes place at each Rank-Up will occur more frequently.
As for Inspirational Leader favoring an Aux2Battery build, I feel I must inform you that the proc rate has a small internal cooldown. Spamming abilities more quickly than our intended balance point will not net this build much more benefit than it will the average player. I'd also like to point out that each individual buff only lasts a short duration (15sec I believe), so getting multiple stacks within that small duration window is very unlikely. It's far more likely that players equipped with this Trait will frequently be flying with a +10 to all skills, in short bursts. But the actual benefit that skill boost gives you will only matter if you activate abilities that rely upon those skills.
---
I believe that addresses the majority of the balance concerns and questions that have arisen since the publishing of this dev blog. We'll do our best to keep an eye on the forums for any other major questions that may come up.
Ship stats should be released later today, as well as an FAQ.
hmm... nope. still bad for pvp.
i like how he says the torp cant be out run then proceeds to tell us to outrun it to counter it....
If you see it, pop your abilities just before it impacts. Vroom right out. But PVP is a chaotic mess with different abilities shooting off, easier said then done i guess. -shrug-
i like how he says the torp cant be out run then proceeds to tell us to outrun it to counter it....
seriously...
Agreed.
There's no mention on how long that Crescent Distruptor Proc lasts, right? Is it instant and then goes into cooldown? Or does it last 5 seconds and then the cooldown kicks in? Because 5 seconds with all guns blazing with complete shield bypass is nuts.
The SIC is ridiculous too. How much is "reduced"? Complete stop, or flying through Plasma/Theta radiation trails? 3km doesn't seem like much, but with no access to BOFF abilities, most of us are pretty screwed because there's just too much going on on the screen. Unless, Evasive Maneuvers isn't considered a BOFF ability (which it shouldn't be...it's a Captain ability).
The Leadership trait I'm okay with. I don't use all of the space traits, so I have some room to work with additional traits. But, at some point, there will be enough traits that people will have to give up some of their traits. I'll probably get that leadership trait when the price drops low enough. It'll probably be one of the first traits I swap out when something better comes along.
Ker'rat is going to be a miserable place to visit after this.
Ker'rat is the only reason i've continued to play this game. it's the only place where the action and surprises never end it's been a nightmare lately though, but new builds have come from it and we have overcome most of the cheese, or people just get shamed into not using it. lol
i do hope with the introduction of these new items, that there will be new builds and new fighting tactics, but from what i can see, combined with the new space trait tier 4 nukara and a couple recent doffs, it's gonna be just plain ridiculous.
we shall see...
Don't know why it says i'm an ARC user. i will never use that TRIBBLE Cryptic!

Yeah I decided to point out to him all the different effects in PVP that are prevalent that will easily allow you to get impacted by that little Jewel of a weapon..
You think that your beta test was bad?

I asked in Kerrat zone chat whether people plan to get the Elachi goodies tomorrow, several replied they have their lobi ready.
However, there are so few Klingons in Kerrat these days that it seems as though they have gone extinct already...no Klingons to hunt.
the battleship is without a doubt the best tac cruiser in the game by far. its like the galor, only it can use DHCs, and has 4 tac consoles. its second only to the scimitar as far as cruiser like things go.
they're really are of their rocker with that escort. that ship will have incredible spike soak and regeneration, and if you got that nothing short of a nuk is any real threat to something with a 16 turn rate, can speed tank, and has access to APO. hull durability of the tvaro will be plenty. additional shield hitpoints have always been way more valuable for the amount of hull they tend to exchange for it. no escort should have greater then a 1.0 shield mod.
wow... that escort has a 1.3 shield mod and 2 lt universal stations?
-_-
I had to look at it a few times, but to be honest I don't think either of those ships are going to cause issues.
Yeah, 1.3 is a high shield mod.
But with only 28,500 base hull, no cloak, 2 Eng consoles and a standard Escort turn rate of 16 - I really don't think this ship is going to make any kind of impact in the current state of affairs.
It might be a nice/different option, but it's certainly not the poster child for pay to win that some people in the official thread are claiming.

Its a lot like the Fleet Tor'Kaht, as about 80% of it is identical to thats ship (Turn Rate, general movement, almost the same boff layout, almost the same hull and shield modifiers).
I'd say its Fleet Tor'Kaht that everyone has access to now

Add in a field gen or two.
Or maybe 4 Embassy consoles for +Pla damage.
Or just the silly pets and new console.
A single Dil Mine Neutronium console with the +Turn is enough to compensate for the low hull. Aux to SIF for extra safety.

The fleet tor'kaht boff setup is too tactical for a good aux2batt build where as this ships boff setup is perfect.

its basically a science ship without the subsystem targeting or SA.
lt cmdr sci, 2 lt uni's that can be used as sci, 4 sci console slots, AND is an escort.
i dont think even the time ship escort has this high a shield rating?
its a better prometheus.
dont forget, when it uses the sets it gets pets that can vm!

Hrmm, so the shield mod is 0.2 higher, the hull 4500 lower, and the imp mod 0.02 higher compared to what I had calculated out. Wonder if it was a change or if the calculations were that far off - checked on two toons comparing multiple ships. Oh well, but figured that the BOFF layout would potentially be like the Chel Grett.

it sort or reminds me of a vesta healer build. i think it could serve a similar role, but instead of CC, it could pull off a full on escort alpha every 30 seconds, or maybe you could just throw a bunch of beam arrays, FAW and APB3 on it. a LTC and LT sci has pretty powerful healer potential. trying to use it like a classic escort is proboly going about it all wrong

Wow. No point in building a Starbase, there is nothing even remotely similar among the fleet ships. One point three?
Should be .90
They'll probably nerf, after they bank the cash.
