Aye, I'm really happy with the new D'deridex boff layout. :)

Unfortunately we will never see a Galaxy with a similar layout, due to the fact that many people already own a Galaxy. If they change the boff slots there will be people who had a specific super rare and expensive boff for their Galaxy that they suddenly can't slot anymore, or simply a build that they really like and can't use anymore, and they will rage.

Adding a second Galaxy version to the C-store with the different boff layout will cause people who already own a Galaxy but do want the changed boff layout to rage, as they will have to pay a second time for their Galaxy. There really is no way to win for the developers.

This isn't really about the Galaxy but as its often compared to the D'D I do agree something should be done for it. My suggestion to improve it without messing up current builds would be to release the long overdue Fleet Dreadnought with 4 tac consoles and give it Lt Cmdr tac, Lt Tac, Cmdr Eng, Lt Sci ensign universal boff layout, similar to how the Vorcha got a new boff layout when its Fleet version was made.

Then they should add the option to remove the third nacelle and cannons on top so it can return to the classic Galaxy skin. That way they can leave the Galaxy retro alone and use a ship that needs to come out anyway to make both dreadnought and regular Galaxy fans happy.

As a longtime Galaxy captain, I would definitely be upset if suddenly the ship's configuration changed after a patch, and my entire setup was suddenly invalid after years of mastering the ship.

I have been tempted now and again to get the Fleet Gal-X. However I love the classic Galaxy design, and the Gal-X still has model issues that make it look...off. (crooked phaser lance, off center bits of mesh, ect)

However, if they want to introduce a new Galaxy configuration, or new configurations for cruisers in general, what they could do is test the waters with "Prototype"/Mirror Galaxy/Cruisers in a future lockbox, which would give players a chance to provide valuable feedback on new configurations to make sure the changes are positive and don't cause the ships to lose what makes them unique and interesting.

Finally, while it may upset people to purchase the ship again, all currently active ships should be nonetheless grandfathered. This is so that people who love their ships and builds and have spent a great deal of time on them can continue to do so without worrying about all of their experience with said ships being rendered invalid over a single patch.

People who have already purchased said ships should be able, if they choose to switch to the new versions, to discharge and reclaim the ship from the C-Store for the new configuration.

It's not a perfect solution, mind you, but it's a more equitable scenario than most. If sweeping changes are in fact coming to cruisers, that is.

Personally, among the only changes to the Galaxy I really support are another tactical console slot. And maybe, *maybe*, taking the Ens engineering/Tactical on the Retro or Dread and either making it universal or adding it to another station to bump them up one rank. The reason being there aren't many great ens. level powers that don't put tons of other, more useful powers on cooldown.

As for the other big complaint: People always complained about the turnrate, but I've always been able to make the Woglinde dance. All that takes is practice. The improved Impulse Thrusters and Engine Performance turnrate buffs are just gravy. Cruiser captains should really be speccing those to the max anyways.

Got the big D today and played for a few levels. I found it to be a decent experience. If configured properly it is an excellent tank and the singularity powers boost it further. Add in bc for getaway, repositioning and sneak attack making it sweeter.

    My objections are withdrawn!
