Honestly they're okay enough, but they don't look very "Romulan" to me. In fact they look like slightly redone winter jackets.
I do hope we'll get other options, such as the TOS uniforms, and the Nemesis uniforms (about the only good thing to come out of that crime against humanity).
They're the only ones shown in the trailer and character creation screen.
I just hope that they're not the only ones overall. I would love the female Romulan commander's outfit from TOS for instance.
I don't hate them. They certainly look like the kind of goofy outfit you'd see in Star Trek. With a recolor, they could look kinda slick. Besides, I doubt that's the only costume option we'll get. I guarantee you'll have at least one or two other options that will probably be a little more retro-inspired.
I'm not fond of the super pointy shoulder look, but I think they should all be options.
Even the weird TOS/TNG hybrid from their first TNG appearance. Hopefully not for zen either -_-
I'm not a romulan expert, and I don't want to spend time looking for every conceivable uniform but...
I'm fairly sure that is the "default" uniform for these new, romulans of the republic.
However, if Cryptic/CBS/PWE (and who ever else's pockets get filled from STO) I can't see them not cashing in on this with various outfits that *should* already be included.
Actually come to think of it when was the last outfit release in STO?
Could do with a few more, DS9 (all of ST really) alone has so many off-duty ones that spring to mind that I would like to use on occasion, let alone actual uniforms or NEW stuff that the artist can come up with.
Bikinis anyone? (to whoever remembers that thread many years ago lol)

The new uniform is alright, im sure it would look nicer in a dark gray and black scheme. However I still want the Nemesis uniforms, and the pointy shouldered ones the NPCs currently have.
The last few outfit releases were in the lobi store, which annoys me no end that I had to pay over the odds for the Wells uniform because PWE found a new way to bilk us out of our cash.
If they end up putting Romulan uniforms up for lobi I will RAGE.
Given that Cryptic is (used to be?) known for their great customization of player characters, I think it would be crazy of them not to include all the Romulan uniforms we've ever seen. Not to mention that people are going to want them.
The description on the site does have the players going "undercover" so hopefully those are just the civilian clothes we wear while "undercover".

Ah, well discounting lobi, which is a backdoor through to our wallets...
when was the last C-store 100% you get what you pay for uniform?
I can see most things getting lock-boxed/lobi'd and the C-store ending up being like what it is in every other PWE game, gimmicky items that are either needed for in game quests/content and fairly dire visual items.

You can have any color you like. As long as it is green!
I'm sure the uniforms can be recolored, beyond the shades of the green rainbow. It's after all how they (Cryptic) roll.
Even new creations should reflect upon the past to assure continuity. That's not how it works though. But it is a nice dream... That previously suggested retro option to bypass that thought, would also do wonders.

That's not true, a lot of the clothing items I have only allow certain colours.
which is stupid IMO, plus if you actually look at the colours we get given it's not that many.
eye colours for instance are all murky and dark, even when you pick the lightest shade.

they did the same with the korath uniform, despite klingons lacking uniforms severely in comparison to feds, so its not a case of if, but of when.

Yeah and since lobi are character bound meaning a Romulan would have to spend more money to get more, I can hear Perfect Ferengi counting their gold now. >_<

Roughly 523.79M.
That's a lot of counting... :P

the funny/sad thing is, it could be much worse, i have played some kMMOs/chinese MMOs that make STO seems wonderful in terms of monetization, at least its possible to play STO truly for free(yet), and hopefully it will continue to stay like that.
my only real gripe with cryptic/PW is their bad customer support and their awful bug handling, other than that, its okay... most of the time.
also you could always buy the inevitable lobi romulan uniforms from the exchange lol.

You put far more into "beyond the shades of the green rainbow", than me. Heh. When I use the canon guidelines on my Fed uniforms, deviation is very possible. Not talking about freedom to do anything here.

That's basically what I thought they were till I saw the video, like I've said in other thread(s?) I hope to see a TNG Romulan uniform as a option. I don't mind the new coats but I've always had a thing for the grey and black TNG uniforms.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
Not liking the Romulan uniform found here, specifically in the lower left. I prefer the uniforms shown throughout the ST movies and shows. Even in the Legacy of Romulus page, Sela's uniform is more traditional, which I like (from what we can see). Even the Tal Shiar's is alright. The New Romulans are dressed like bums.
Probably not. But would like that for the Romulans. Guess you have converted me into wishing for something more, instead of being content with what is not there. Well done!

Well apparently Dev posts have stated that both the TNG Romulan uniforms and TOS era Romulan uniforms are silly looking and hint that they won't be available.
Looking at the past three years of, shall we say MINIMAL development attention? Yeah, minimal development attention given to the KDF's uniform capabilities ... I certainly wouldn't hold my breath for a wide variety of customization.
Question: What happens when this is the only choice? Will there be a complaint?

They've not included the Duras Sisters' uniforms for female Klingons, or Gowron's General's Overcoat. And KDF players have been asking for both of those for three years. Why would they start offering added customization now?
Designers of all people, need to look to the past before rushing into the future. If the past is riddled with all these horrible creations, the future probably holds even more of them, for you can only repeat the pattern, by following the same trend that made everything that came before.
Not like there is any point of repeating this, for it has been said before, forgotten before, and tomorrow it's the same thing all over. :P

You sir/mam restore faith that people actually see what happens, thank you.

And the klingon skirts as well.
The korath uniform I can understand, though I don't agree with it, but the skirts should have been a free option.

Seriosely though, after 3 years you finally get your faction and are already complaining about the uniforms 2 months before it's actually released?!?
