So people are not getting overpowered purple space bugs? Yay!
I had extra zen after buying the armitage, so I grabbed a doff pack thinking that I split them up between my alts who had weak doffs. I won the jem bug on the first one! It was also the only non faction ship I wanted. Its just pewing awesome! Thanks cryptic! I wasn't expecting to win it!

LOL.It is a true story. But face it, doff paks give you something usable upfront. Lockboxes can give you a dozi rotgut for your 1 USD and say HEY! YOU GOT YER Very rare item...so were cool,.....right? PWE..Cryptic...THANKS PEOPLE WHO TAKE MY MONEY! Better?:o
It might be well known to you, but not to me. I am a new player. Just started a few weeks ago.
Ah! In that case yeah, you just got hit with a case of wrong place/wrong time. In a few more weeks of play you'd become quite knowledgeable of whih of Cryptic's avenues of revenue generation are a good value and which are just throwing money into a fire.
But take heart, if you've only opened a little more than 15 packs and that's all it took to get you to become wise to Cryptic's ways then you're already doing better than a large number of players. There are stories of people opening hundreds of boxes and not getting anything useful in them.
Also, you're right about the sub. Really not worth it. Better to get other things like character/boff/ship slots and the expanded bank and then going silver.
Let me ask you this. What do you think the purpose is of PerfectWorld spamming us with System GameplayAnnounce messages that show so many people winning these types of ships? You know as well as I know that it's to give us a sense of false confidence in the odds of winning it ourselves.
There was a time when that was "bugged" and people's names would flash even if they hadn't opened a single box...... that was fixed though, right (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).

I actually feel bad - bought 3 packs - won a Jem Bug each time!
I actually feel bad - bought 3 packs - won a Jem Bug each time!
True story!
Don't feel bad, that was just their random algorithm acting up again. Its been speculated from observation (since actual controlled attempts would be prohibitively expensive) that if you open any random packs in rapid succession you will tend to get the same thing over and over. There is also some speculation about some accounts simply getting better odds among other things.
A lot of it sounds like upset people making up stuff, but Cryptic declining to publicly state the odds lends weight to the idea an extra layer of an algorithm is involved that skews things. If such an algorithm existed I'd imagine its not necessarily in place to lessen the odds of getting the big prize, but rather to normalize people winning it (and therefore ensure a steady drip of unboxing system announcements).
I believe Cryptic has stated there is no such algorithm, but since they are not bound by anything as paltry as published odds I do not discard anything.

Wasn't there a thread about this a few months back?I believe you, I think if I remember it, a few other forum posters even confirmed your claim.Congratulations! Seriously, with all the resource sinks in this game, its nice to hear someone got a sweet deal.

I have some beachfront property in the middle of the Sahara Desert to sell as well! cheap!
Saddly I am not that lucky. But there was a case of someone getting 2 ships within then first 10 boxes/pack - can't remember which one it was.
UGH. I swear someone posted that claim a few months back, I don't remember, who or when, and I dont feel like digging through necro posts for it either.Still, that jem bug is a sweet escort.

It was not 3 in a row - it was a guy who got 2 time ships within 10 boxes.

I am vouch for that claim. I saw it with my own eyes. The odds of that happening are unbelievable. I opened 5 DOFF packs and failed it obtain a ship as well. I really wonder what the drop rate is or how many people have been buying and opening these things. I know people have stated its 1/100, but there seems to be way too many people's names flying across the screen.
Personally, I think it is unethical and possibly illegal to sell these "lottery tickets" without disclosing the odds, but I also think consumers should use a bit of critical thinking.
Except lottery tickets, if you don't win, are worth nothing, just a junk piece of paper. Whereas here, they added a chance for a random prize to an existing product that people already were buying just for the doffs previously.
The extra stuff added on is simply that...extra stuff. When I go to my grocery story, they print out a code on the receipt I can put in on a website to maybe win a gift certificate or something (and sometimes, they have a promotion where they hand out these little scratch and win things for purchases over $20). You don't see people complaining that they they bought groceries 15 times, they didn't win the $500 prize. (Or maybe you do, and I missed it.)
I would like everyone to share their results of opening the Fleet Support Packs. How many did you open and when and if did you win the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship?
I am very curious to whether the drop rate has been increased or there is a insane number of people opening these things.
I opened 20 Boxes, Got mine on the 5th one. Decided to open the last 15 just to see the results, only misc stuff.

Here's my Jem'Hadar Attack Ship results: Opened Absolutely Nothing; Saved a bunch of ZEN, Dilithium, and RL money; Did Not Support Stupid Lockbox Lottery Scam
The only bugs I got were the ones that Cryptic has never fixed. #workingasintended
Delta Rising is the best expansion ever and the players love it! No, seriously! ...Why are you laughing so hard?
Yeah i really want one but its a joke, why cant they put it as a hard mission or like crafting where you have to collect components etc something to work towards, i was going to buy boxes tomorrow but for ?40 u get 23 boxes where i could get 40+ lockbox keys instead but still some smart guy didnt think that this dominion ship didnt beling in a DOMINION lockbox
A fleet member of mine got one after opening a 12 packs and also ended up with a Anti-Proton MXII Very Rare Console as well.
I am seeing people either get one within 10 or so boxes or basically never.
I didn't pay a penny for mine, I sold my Dkora on the exchange which in turn bought the packs on the exchange. I might have $20 invested in the Dkora. Most the keys I bought to get it was bought with Zen I bought off the exchange.
Im beginning to wonder if there is any at all, you see the lucky people go across the top but makes you wonder is it genuine?
It is 100% accurate - Brandon has confirmed that the scroll is not "faked"
They will tell you that with certainty - but unfortunately won't release the odds.
Thing is there are probably 200,000 packs sold today already - so if the odds are 1% - that's 2000 ships out today - or in the first 10 hours 200 per hour or 3 per minute every minute - but it come in spirts so it seems more - you don't notice the 2 min gap but you will notice the next min if you see 1 every 10 seconds or less.
But I bet it's double this 400k packs sold by the amount 1000's of players seem to be buying them
probably 100k players will buy an avg of 20 packs or 2 million plus packs sold+

My character Tsin'xing
7 purple doffs.
4 strange and 1 powered alien artifacts.
12 op asset boxes.
Countless embassy provisions (worthless to me as my fleet has finished its embassy).
No ship and no FSMs. I did get four FSMs out of a pack some time ago, though.
