If I go in to a store and I buy something that they've mislabeled as being cheaper they will honour that price as they recognise that they made the error.
How about you show a little bit of responsibility, Cryptic? Do the honourable thing. Accept that you erred and either leave out weapons alone or give me a refund.
I bought a full set of andorian weapons for my kumari pretty much just to have as blue phasers since they were competitive and flavorful.
Since "archoncryptic" sees fit to reduce nerf them after the fact I'd like a full refund of all the dilithium used to purchase them - I would have simply stuck to my mk XII phased polarons if blue andorian guns were outright inferior.
Happy for the andorian guns to be deleted out of my inventory by a customer service representative, but I don't want my space guns to be made into worthless junk without equivalent recompense. Not like I need mk XI guns for anything other than to be worse than everyone else.
lol... It is to laugh really. I am SO glad I went with my fleet guns instead of those blue phasers... I would have loved the color swap but I had a feeling they would never be worth it by comparison and I was soooo right.
Why bother offering special weapons for this ship, a ship that is supposed to be the be-all and end-all of DPS, and then make sure that those weapons are rather mediocre? Does not sound like you kept yourselves on message here.
Somehow I'm really happy I avoided this scam. I guess the proper way of correcting this error is just keeping them as they are and renaming them to Mk XII.
There are not that many reasons to go for them anyway. If you have a fleet, fleet phasers are better. Even without a fleet, Mk XII phasers from exchange are easier to get.
Spiral Wave disruptors are powerful beyond belief. Where are they bought from? Yes, that's right, the dilithium store. "But you need the Galor to buy them", you say. Yes, you also need the Andorian ship to buy the Andorian weapons.
Spirals also cost 43k dil.
The solution is obvious; leave the Andorian weapons with Mk XII stats, change their tooltip to show Mk XII, and increase their price accordingly. Nobody loses anything they've already purchased and the early adopters get to enjoy their discount.

Spirals are fleet level weapons with 4 modifiers. My first thought was the upgrade option would add a 4th modifier to the Andorian phasers. Ah well. Should have known better.
The Dilithium store isn't intended to carry the best equipment in the game. These items were priced as Mark XI items - similar to the other gear already available in the Dilithium store. The incorrect stats were a bug, and I apologize if people bought them based on that bug.
As a general rule, we try to keep our endgame equipment in endgame systems, such as the Fleet system and the various Reputation systems.
We'd like to have higher-end Andorian weapons available as well, and we're currently discussing the best way to make those available to players.
Cryptic this is theft.. i payed zen to finsh gearing out my ship.. now your going to blanket nerf them?
Leave them alone, buff the cost like others have said and rename them mk12's but you nerfing them becuase you screwed up weeks later.... shame on this company.. and if they do nerf not one more dime will you get from me.
Or grandfather the ones it people bought and then change them.. we payed for a service and we should get it.
These weapons are intended to be MK XI, the same as the other highest-end weapons in the Dilithium store. We'll be fixing the error that is giving these incorrect stats sometime soon. Sorry for the inconvenience to those of you who has already purchased these.
Andorian weapons are not listed in the same area on the dil store as regular Mk XI weapons, they're under "Special Items". So why the comparision to regular run-of-the-mill Mk XI weapons?? And why would anyone buy a 2500zen ship and equip it with inferior weapons, talk about a dumb.
The solution is obvious; leave the Andorian weapons with Mk XII stats, change their tooltip to show Mk XII, and increase their price accordingly. Nobody loses anything they've already purchased and the early adopters get to enjoy their discount.
I have been giving this a lot of thought on many levels.
1. the simplest answer, which isn't being done, STOP buying stuff, STOP opening lock boxes for any reason, STOP buying Zen, STOP buying dilithium.
2. DON'T touch the new Romulan faction. Money is the only thing that matters here and when you stop paying they will start listening... until then we are all just too stupid to be listened too.
Star Trek online is at a somewhat unique cross-road. It was a paying membership game that got regular updates within a mostly free gaming system inside membership. The EULA (end user licensing agreement) covered most of what we dealt with. They did their best but could and might change things as needed when they felt like it. It was considered a community driven process and we all pitched in to help keep things flowing. When changes or breaks or nerfs accorded we didn't gripe too much because it was... to a degree free.
Now Star Trek online has been sold to a Chinese company based in China. The format has been changed to a pay as you play format or as they sell it free-to-play. They believe that they are still covered under the EULA that they can do whatever they want. Also since they are in China they are not subject to American or EU laws. Most governments still see online gaming as a buyer beware activity and could care less about fraud, theft, or illegal gambling by minors that goes on day-to-day in these games.
Perfect World could care less about how you feel or what you want. They have a forumla of what gets you to spend money and you guys NEVER disappoint them. I still believe in the Cryptic development team but their Chinese Overlords now call the shots, they call the production schedule, they are allowing their really crappy Chinese coders to make updates that are poorly planned, poorly executed and are the ones messing up the entire process.
I think Cryptic goes back and tries to address these issues that are coming up and Perfect World is telling them to shut up or quit.
In the end of the day the only way this is going to change is if we stop paying for their junk and please don't race out and play or buy Neverwinter. It is going to be more of this.
These weapons are intended to be MK XI, the same as the other highest-end weapons in the Dilithium store.

Edit: Removed off-topic information. This will be discussed elsewhere.
Wow, I almost bought these but decided to check the forum to see if people found them worth it.
Anyway, just to add my "forum vote" please keep/correct them as Mark 12 items, raise the cost, whatever. If I spent over 100k Dil on these and read this I would be fuming right now.
As it is I'm kinda annoyed that I spend 50 bucks on something and I can't even have it be the way I want (blue phasers). I look like a rainbow captain with my big blue wing cannon balls flying with my yellow phasers, and red cutting beam.
STO suffers from lack of updates, the game feels like a Beta version with a lack of content and fast leveling, also there isnt much in terms of items as most unique things were added with FE.
And we had 7 seasons ... thats 7 updates in the last 3 years, that is not "regular" since of these updates the last 3 were PW, that is 4 updates in 2 years without PW.
Is there a different attitude towards pay items? It seems to me but this isnt new either ... were the Atari years something none remember anymore because it doesnt serve their point?
Also game is Free to Pay, we dont need Andorian Escorts or any pay item to do it, we dont have content locked behind a pay wall as in LotRO ... now is Turbine a chinese company too? I thought that much.
I have been playing this since day one. In STO these 7 updates, are 7 seasons... they thought it would be cute to make 5 mini episodes that ran back to back for five weeks. They ran roughly an hour long each and are story line driven. Hence 7 seasons/episodes. They aren't actual updates.
The game was rough when it came out and they have revamped the gaming system several times. And before it was sold to PW, it had worked many things out. Since the sell it has gone back to a beta format. And several of the "updates" were already pre-completed Cryptic projects that went with the sale (I am completely guessing on this statement, but makes sense).
I am not talking about all pay content on all games, I am talking about Perfect World's attitude towards this game. A lot of game companies are doing this because players keep paying and then defending the practice.
I was in The DDO beta and in the beginning it was a membership, and everything in game was free. Then they went to a free-2-play format and many players stopped playing.

Thank you for that clarification .
If possible try to motivate the powers that be (or whoever's responsible) to update the stats on the weapons ASAP .
(with ASAP meaning the same haste Cyrptic has shown with fixing the initial problems with the Andorian ship)
p.s. Also thanks for posting on the forums . Please don't stop doing that , regardless of player reaction (which seems justified in my eyes in this instance)
This is the clearest case I have seen yet whereby a customer is effectively conned out of money, not deliberately, I accept it was a mistake, but you should allow customers to claim a refund if they so wish and the refund should be available as either Zen, Dilithium or CASH. Failure to offer this refund will violate many UK trading laws but worse will make this customer at least extremely wary about purchasing anything from Cryptic again, and so far that is around 500 GBP this year alone.
this I agree with 100% , refund please x5 as I purchased 5 of said weapons . I could have used it for my fleet instead (teir 3 shipyard) , but I expect it will be a "sorry no refunds" and I will not be here for the may bug release fest
What I find amusing is that when it was discovered that the Andorian consoles shared cooldowns with cannon BOff abilities Branflakes stated that that was deliberate as they like to be conservative and then increase power rather than make something too powerful at the beginning and then something that people paid for.
I bought something with cash which i understand is about to be made less powerful than I was led to believe when I entered the contract to purchase. I understand that as a consumer I have a right to demand a refund of my CASH, not my dilithium, if said items are subsequently reduced in effectiveness.
While I support your right to ask for a refund , I'd just like to point to a purchasable item (playable race) that was released in May 20012 .
To this 'purchasable item' , the Systems Team thought it was OK to introduce a shared cooldown to an ability -- 11 months after the said item was in game .
This would be one example of :
a) not having any insurances what so ever on your purchases (against nerfs)
b) an example of a change that did not happen in the initial month of release of an item (for balance reasons)
c) powers being released by the Systems Team without actually testing if they collided with any existing powers / traits ingame .
The response from Borticus was a shrug -- or in his terms : "To be frank, it probably won't change much, if anything." .
Sadly , all I could do was post my opinion on such a sad type of service to us , the customers .

Heh. I'd like to also point out that when I was playing this game as a subscriber, I bought the Ferengi, Rigellian and Pakled playable races.
They made all of them free with free to play. And never gave out any refunds.

yes but two wrongs don't make it right.
They should of learned thats not a honest way of doing business and all it will do is make people less willing to support your product.

Not quite the best analogy , as your gameplay was not effected by their choice to 'give away' playable races .
But I can see your intent and for what it's worth , I thought it was silly to give these away when they could have made a little more money on them .
I was contemplating buying Andorian phasers last night. Given their impending nerf, I'm so glad I didn't.
If Cryptic does go forward with nerfing Andorian weapons down to Mk XI stats, then they must provide a refund mechanism in-game so that anyone who bought them for their current stats not be subjected to bait-and-switch practices. Such activity is criminal in the real world -- there is no reason why it should be tolerated here. Even if STO's EULA provides blanket immunity to Cryptic, such bad faith practices reflect poorly on both the Cryptic Brand and the individual developers making these decisions.
I still remember how SWG was the #1 MMO until Sony Online Entertainment decided to impose a blanket nerf that rendered many hard-earned armor/equipment unusable by those who invested many months farming the required materials to create them. An online petition was sent to SOE requesting that this change be undone or else its users would cancel their SWG subscriptions. SOE stuck to its guns "for the good of their game." The result: SWG lost 50% of its user base within the next two days, and WoW became the #1 MMO ever since.

I understand the disappointment that some people are feeling at the stats being decreased. To be clear, we were certainly not intentionally misleading anyone. I detailed the intent behind these weapons in a previous post (http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=8322161&postcount=98). The stats on these weapons were a bug, plain and simple.
These items were intended to be for fun and flavor purposes. While some of the posters have noted that Spiral Wave Disruptors are a similar case, those weapons are significantly more expensive and only a specific weapon type (Beam Array) is available. Making all weapon types at that level of power available on the Dilithium store would represent a significant change to our game's loot progression.
For those of you who are interested in more powerful Andorian Phasers, I will be adding Advanced Fleet Andorian Phasers to the fleet store. These are statistically identical to other Advanced Fleet Phasers and require an Andorian Escort to purchase. The only difference between these and standard Advanced Fleet Phasers is cosmetic.

Refund.
You offered a bunch of weapons with published stats. I read the stats. I bought the weapons. You are changing the stats. I no longer want the weapons.

Is that a prelude to fleet versions of other c-store ship-specific weapons (Quads, wide angle torps, etc.)?

Two Turrets x 22,620
135,720 Dilithium spent on what we now know is going to be garbage.
This is completely unacceptable.
I could have personally cleared two fleet projects with that and WAITED until the USEFUL Andorian weapons for my $50 shipset.
Cryptic, this is *&#%^@* Clownshoes horseflop and needs to be remedied.

or
Simply bind them to just any Andorian ship as the Spiral Wave Disruptors are only equipable on the Galor.
I have to wonder, if the Andorian ship were cross-factional, would Cryptic bother nerfing the phasers?
